  1. Yikes heyman also mentions showalter. Michael Scott yelling No gif
  2. the full text: People keep asking me about this, so here are my thoughts: My dad’s dream has always been to own a baseball team. For him, it’s bigger than just business—it’s about proving that Black ownership in baseball is possible. The world is changing, the game is evolving, & ownership needs to reflect the same diversity as the players on the field. Whether in Nashville or Chicago, if he pulls this off, he’d make history as the first Black majority owner in MLB. I don’t see him moving the White Sox—he just experienced the same loss we all did with the A’s leaving Oakland. But that’s well above my pay grade. What I do know is that he has the support, the financial backing, & literal decades of experience. It’s time.
  3. So.. there were two spots. This leaves one- so Schumaker would be Chicago or sit out a year basically? Who else could get fired? Oli Marmol has new paper rn
  4. where did Kiley McDaniel rank him?
  5. Sure there is a chance Jose Rodriguez becomes a 2 WAR guy or better. There's a chance of anything happening with roster constraints and all teams face those constraints. Thats why you get Adam Eatons and Carlos Quentins falling in your lap. We have had those realities benefit us before and hurt us before. All teams struggle with that. The things to be mad about are situations where we misevaluate ourselves under no pressures otherwise (Semien). Or having disagreement on a super young guy (someone really valued Tatis and someone didnt, apparently)
  6. Not sure if meaningful. Adam Jones isnt up early.. he lives in Barcelona
  7. Robert Murray says in his pod that Merrifield is not near signing anywhere.
  8. "new cease suitor" teased here https://twitter.com/ByRobertMurray/status/1752429867516514474
  9. Ok. An actual MLB player, and it's fine. Rarity this offseason really.
  10. Maybe not in these proposed ways, but i could see the Orioles trading Santander. they dont like to pay that last big arb year, i'm sure. that's how they operate. Even though theyre win now i can see them weaseling out of it and selling it to the fanbase somehow if it involves a pitcher coming in
  11. i kinda felt the opposite, like the Sox are the ones messaging through all these writers saying no-trade-likely. thats the last threat left-- that we'd take cease into the season.
  12. What's more likely is they just dont choose that prospect of the ones offered. If they were really in love with a bat-only prospect though... then they would take him without a concern for 2024 (which is probably Eloy's last year with the Sox). Prospects should be acquired based on quality instead of fit. Because you will invariably trade some or change what they have to fit around (over time)
  13. Getz has gotten his job on promising people in the right positions. So sure on another team he can pass for a position he cant play. But not here. And the league is not trending that way anyway so if his bat is very good it's not going to be an issue and he's going to take a team's 1b or dh
  14. isnt there a difference with Glasnow though? it was baked in that he would sign an extension (not a Boras guy gives him value in that sense). The terms of the trade were determined by his already existing willingness to complete the extension immediately
  15. Hey guys i came to the site for some Cease talk. am i in the right place? was this thread something else before but mistakenly renamed at some point?
  16. Most humans have 2 or more arms. True statement.
  17. i'm actually going into this thing asking for less than the moon. Cease may be 2-year control and has a good past, but last year had iffy walks and the most recent thing you gave is what people remember. i think Baltimore will give us the two guys who are well thought of and some extra pieces. we've also talked with Dodgers and Yankees which does not surprise me- Sox will do this deal with a well entrenched front office. Trading Cease for two Top 100s and then lets say the next two years he's worse than he was in 2023: thats the kind of thing a GM gets fired for. You'll trade him to a teflon FO if you are getting back a strong haul. Lets be honest we would be saying these same things if we were buy-now. Right before we got Shields, Fangraphs wrote a piece about how he had gotten a little worse than he had been. Now, Samardzjia came here after a good year...true. We didnt have to give up any Top 100 pieces for him (communal groan...) *and for purposes of this exercise i do consider westburg like a top 100
  18. It all just revolves around whats down lower in [CHICAGO ACCENT:] da package
  19. Jim Duquette on XM Radio (2:15pm yesterday): Orioles have made an offer on Cease, it's a good one, but Elias' has been very disciplined on offers he has been putting out there, and it doesnt need to go up. Then Bowden agreed: "Yeah, it doesnt need to go up" Maybe interesting if for nothing else just to see the messaging that gets put out there (by a show literally called "Front Office" that routinely pokes at Boras and hardline agents all the time, so it's very friendly to teams putting out messaging perhaps)
