  1. Bob did his classic thing where he didnt say definitive stuff ('oh hur dee dur He's just buying up minority shares'), but shaded things in a way that allowed grey area. If you want to corner Bob and follow up and say "did the Sox go to him" i wonder what he'd say. but it's not an interrogation.
  2. I dont think the Sox will move any time soon, especially if Ishbia is the next owner. That said, never rule out a move completely. If they were starting an MLB tomorrow, there's no way Chicago would have two teams. It's just not where we're at
  3. holding out hope that if all our OFs get injured that somehow means we cannot have a regular season team
  4. if we just went with anticipation and buzz, Elko is top ten. interesting to see here though kind of a stiff jolt of realism w/ him
  5. a billionaire is following what i do online. Film at 10
  6. im sure ishbia was promised something really good but there's no evidence that it's something immediate. jerry wants to make the team good before he sells it. thats at least what is in his mind (and in his public comments, folks) even if we dont think thats likely to happen. when you sell something at the pawn shop dont you want to sell it in best possible condition, if you can? his dream scenario is he spends nothing but getz builds a cheap winner, then at that point he would sell. as a team on the rise and if none of that starts coming to fruition, his waiting/doing nothing thing has the fallback benefit of still keeping him in charge of a baseball team (technically, a team) plus side for us, he could pass away and then everything speeds up
  7. It could be four years til official total takeover of this thing. It will be interesting to see if this same thread is still going strong at that point. The team's onfield offerings might make that possible
  8. i spoke to someone placed highly in the offices at 35th & Shields. long ago Jon Rauch put him up there on a high shelf and ever since no one has ever been able to reach high enough to bring him back down.
  9. the white sox being moved to winnetka will coincide with getting starbucks latte logo as a uniform patch
  10. article says the people who sold shares around 2021 were selling for half of what Ishbia wants to pay now. they must really feel screwed over. The team was good then; it's bad now, but shares are worth double. Ishbia=motivated buyer.
  11. just a quick killjoy comment here but Kroenke was from Missouri but moved the Rams out. so him living here isnt necessarily a guarantee we stay. but for Jerry to be potentially out, and selling to someone who spends big...... is enough for me to sleep happily tonight
  12. To me the easiest explanation is she is extremely pissed at him and went public because she could contain it no longer (and wanted to inspire others who have had to bottle s%*# up). At first he wasnt paying child support, so she decided to reveal all the stuff he had been doing. The mention of him throwing chewing tobacco at their kid is a really specific gross detail. If you have a kid and you keep quiet about abuse youve faced, you maybe give your kid a chance at staying out of therapy on it, and being blissfully unaware as they go thru life. By going public she puts their kid through a lot, it's all Googleable later in life. So i guess we can read that here two ways, that she's evil, or she wanted the world to know all this stuff he's been doing. To me, that is a lot to put the kid through unnecessarily (ruining their image of their father) so I believe her. As stated before, you just lose money by ruining the MLB-husband's reputation. You cause your kid pain. There's no gain to it.
  13. the investigation sent him to anger management. and he went willingly. so after all the interviews there were findings; it wasnt exoneration. here's basically how Bauer and Clevinger differ: neither was proven to have done something that would take you to jail, but Clevinger kept his mouth shut. Bauer was too stupid and too proud of his youtubing to stay quiet, so he talked about the legal sordid s%*# he DID do, and no team ever wanted him after that. Cost himself a ton of money.
  14. How is she a gold digger? Filing this complaint decreased his salary greatly over the next years, he became totally unwanted (arm issue notwithstanding, we were the only reported team in on him). And she has his kid so she is paid off his salary. Why would she want his salary lower?
  15. clevinger is back. no wonder an amber alert awoke me at 2am
  16. More accessible than Soldier Field at least. The parking would somehow be figured out. Admittedly i come at things from a CTA oriented view.
  17. It's just a dynamic that seems to follow all portions of our player acquisition. Jacob Gonzalez and Keenyn Walker rumor has it were results of the higher up contramanding the department that is supposed to make these decisions. These were guys the MLB community had lower, but we took them and had no one fighting us for them at all.
  18. we dont sign the players we need, we sign the players we can. and there ends up being a reason for that.. no one is fighting us for them. the draft and trades could similarly be interpreted that way as well
  19. Last time we spent we got Benin10D. these two would be Benin11D and Benin12D
  20. was Bannister with SF when the put Manaea on a part time relief role? that seems to have actually benefitted his career since..
  21. the piece also stresses Colson is a starting OD candidate at SS. I could see the team kind of using Merk here to really play up that AFL stint (though he wasnt a SS in that!)
  22. Sean Burke a breakout candidate for 2025 White Sox Merk is incredibly well connected of course and had the Venable thing before anyone else. At the link he mentions the Sox plan for Schultz and Smith may be to bring them up to MLB later in 2025 but use them out of the pen. Bringing back the Chris Sale philosophy i guess. Any thoughts? Is this smart? I guess it could be Iriarte also debuted as a MLB reliever but now going into 2025 is probably back to starter in MILB (not that i know that)
