  1. I wish there was an easy way to check this but I wonder if Bob ever even reported the Vizquel story initially two years ago, or if he completely avoided it for his buddy Jerry.
  2. Nice to know Bob works under the direction of Jerry Reinsdorf.
  3. It all goes back to one man. He is to blame for everything. The GM’s he hires, managers he chooses for his GM’s, the stupid allocation of money (i.e., ticket sales vs. data analytics), the free agent spending strategy (quantity over quality), etc., etc. The guy probably has zero clue what a bad owner he is cuz he lucked into Jordan and won a WS in 2005 after an offseason of moves that all magically hit. He got extremely lucky once so he thinks he can do it again. Nothing changes until he is “gone” unfortunately. How many owners have boasted that a 2nd place is great cuz the fans keep coming back due to hope that the team improves, rather than saying anything less than the playoffs ever year is a disappointment? What a pathetic loser of an owner to allow such a stupid quote to escape from his mouth.
  4. Losing is a strategy, isn’t it? Oh wait, the draft order changes completely screwed that strategy over. So now we just have to hope the Sox actually draft well without having more obvious top 3 to 5 overall picks to select from. I’m sure the Sox won’t mess this up…
  5. Righty versus lefty may not matter to Sports Guy but it damn sure matters to MLB GM’s. I realize Andrew Vaughn is heading toward mediocre/bust territory but I remember everyone saying he was the best pure hitter in the draft but knocking him for unfortunately being a right-handed hitter.
  6. This is a good point. If Mayo can’t stick at 3B and is just a righty power hitting 1B, is he still worth a ton? It does look like his power is legit, unlike Andrew Vaughn.
  7. No, he’s actually very busy dumpster diving for crappy players.
  8. @T R U was right. This never ends well. ?
  9. You’ll be back when Jerry finally opens up the purse strings for a top free agent like Hahn promised!
  10. You want a 29 year old arbitration eligible starter with 4 years of control, for THIS current Sox team? Thankfully, you will never be a GM, my friend.
  11. This is great to see.
  12. There’s no way Getz wants a 29 year old starter who is already arbitration eligible, or a headlining 2B prospect with a questionable glove, as the top return in a Cease trade.
  13. I don’t buy this at all.
  14. I don’t think any team starting both Madrigal (3B) and Lopez (2B) would be a team in competition, with the importance of offense in the modern game. Losing that much power at a power position like 3B would be rough. The team would have to be stacked at many other positions.
  15. Is there any way to quantify $17 million in cash to the top 100 rating of a of prospect? Say the Braves sent all prospects and no cash for Sale and his $27 million dollar contract. Just curious to see what one year of $27 million dollar Sale would be worth? Grissom + ???
  16. I don’t see Getz taking on the risk of injury to Cease for the first half of 2024. Hahn had three big trade chips for his rebuild in Eaton, Sale, and Quintana. Getz only has two obvious ones in Cease and Robert right now.
  17. Very happy Cease isn’t going to the Braves. Getting back a no power, weak glove 2B that might end up in LF would’ve been disappointing.
  18. Very nice trade for the Braves. Didn’t give up much, but I’m not a fan of Grissom. Also got cash back to pay toward Sale’s contracts. Of course there is the massive injury risk with Sale…
  19. Excellent point. Getz is wasting money on one year garbage talent when the guys he is cutting loose could be better options, with years of control. The Sox are having a losing season with these crappy vets or the young players. Pointless signings. Stupid.
  20. Orioles fans telling Sox fans what prospects they are not receiving, as if they were the GM. Orioles fans thinking that there are plenty of other starting pitching options than Cease that they can acquire, even though their only acquisition this offseason has been Kimbrel for $10 million and their owner is notoriously cheap.
  21. Only 2,781 more hits to go! What a ?. https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/sox-rib-nick-madrigal-with-mr-3000-t-shirts/168271/?amp=1
  22. Getz is still likely asking for the moon. But is it shocking that there is no trade market for our oft-injured no glove expensive DH? The Sox need to throw away all of his outfielder gloves, tell him he’s a full-time DH whether he likes it or not, see if he can hit 20 homers by the deadline without tearing his ACL and MCL running to first base, and deal him as quickly as possible before he inevitable hits the injured list.
  23. Man, I remember desperately trying to obtain that card when I was a kid.
