  1. One argues with the rankings and the other with magic.?
  2. 27 ….boy your pulling it out of your A$$ Talk about a double standard…. Ortiz is better than any prospect in your system but Montgomery…..But he’s 26 (really 25) , But hes a glove first player, But he’s not a headliner, but your players would slot #9 or higher even though they should be rated with players with a similar grade., See what I just did ?
  3. It’s not my place to say…l don’t understand why some of you are taking this personal. You clearly have to give up something to get something. We will see what GM gets Cease and what he had to give up. If it’s not the Orioles we can then debate endlessly what might or might not have been better. If it’s the Orioles we can debate who won or lost or if the deal was fair. Pretty sure we probably won’t agree on that either. It’s just a discussion let’s try to keep it fun, know I am!
  4. They just adjusted this list this fall. Bradfield hit .290, .800 OPS and is a CF. They were 2 slots apart. At this point it’s safe to say the value is comparable. “We’re” ? I’m not missing anything. Your interests have no more impact on Getz than mine with Elias. That’s a number between 0 and 0.
  5. Agreed and they are talking about Holiday at 2B, Mayo at 1B.
  6. What the heck does his bat have to do with it? A good manager would put his best defender at SS, the next guy would move to 3B or SS. It would make your defense better which the White Sox need. There are folks on the Orioles site arguing Gunner Henderson should stay at SS. The reality is the same, if Ortiz isn’t traded he should start at SS and push Henderson back to 3B…..period.
  7. But, per MLB Ortiz would clearly be #2. Bradfield and Gonzalez were both 2023 1st rounders within a few picks of one another. So what pedigree….. I can’t wait to hear. You can build up your prospects…. I suppose we all do.
  8. Ortiz is a 55 based on MLB.com. I’d prefer to use their ranking system to a guy arguing the side of a trade. I mean if we just make it about these conversations will really get ridiculous. After all we aren’t professionals, just guys talking on a fan site right? BTW, the Top 100 has Montgomery at #17 and Schultz at #61. So in their opinion Ortiz would be the #2 prospect in your system. Noby needs a position which is why they are trying him in LF. Most prospect sites agree that his bat will play in the majors.
  9. Noted …. BTW, Ortiz is 25 so it’s interesting that we’re rounding up to try to lessen the value.
  10. LOL ….. you’re funny. Ortiz would be 2,3, or 4 as your 2 and 3 are also graded 55. Norby, Bradfield, and Beavers all grad 50 as do Gonzalez, Eder, and Nastrini (#4-#6). Everyone else in your system is graded 45 or lower. So obviously they could fall in anywhere from 4 to 7 as Ramos is the next tier.
  11. The problem is ….. You guys talked about the Yankees earlier in this thread. They don’t have a Top 50 prospect in their system. They have 73-75 and 95 ….. but in your eyes the #50 prospect is a nonstarter? I guess the Yankees are out then?
  12. In addition to Ortiz 55, all of Norby, Bradfield, and Beavers are all graded 50 by MLB. So they could possibly slot in your top 5. There is no sense debating Gonzalez and Eder versus them. You guys underrate Ortiz because he’s a glove first guy (that Getz supposedly is focused on) and underrate Norby be a he’s a bat first player. For me …..Ortiz really didn’t get a shot to play when he was here this year, Norby hasn’t gotten a shot. And all I’ve said about Povich is that there isn’t a hell of a lot of difference IMO between Hampton and Warren vs McDermott and Povich.
  13. I’m not trading anyone and neither are you. I mentioned earlier that I’d send Cowser as a headliner. I said I don’t believe Elias has any of those guys on the table. I’m not telling you to be content with anything. What you expect and what actually happens might be two very different things. Ortiz glove is plus plus and his batting average and OPS have increased 40 points and 100+ respectively. He’d be extremely valuable if his OPS is .725-.750 in the majors. But, no one is telling you who to like or not. Sucked? He played sporadically but I don’t expect you to know that.
  14. A stupid contract by any measure….but they are one of a few teams that can piss money away
  15. Agreed and they have an endless supply of money. Many clubs can’t afford to make a error on a contract like that or to take a hit for 3-4 prospects and be wrong.
  16. Who is “We’re” …..Are you a mouse in Getz pocket? Regardless to what you or I think has nothing to do with what happens. Being a troll doesn’t get you anywhere. Our lower tier prospects as you call them would be in the top 5 in most systems. They only aren’t because the farm is so deep. You guys have talked about a Yankees deal. They don’t have a prospect rated within 20 slots of Ortiz. Depending on the rating venue Norby is just outside the top 100. Bradfield is another really good prospect. McDermott and Povich are close to the Yankees pitchers mentioned in this thread. Hampton is the only ranked by mlb.com at 95.
  17. Let me ask an honest question…. Do you think there are red flags to potential buyers on Cease?
  18. What does this even mean? Who said Mayo is more valuable? You’re just making crap up! I don’t believe Elias is interested in trading Mayo, Cowser, Holiday, Kjerstad, or Basallo. The two have nothing to do to each other. Elias isn’t likely to extend Cease because of Angelos. So what he’s willing to gamble on a two year return is limited.
  19. I understand…. Most on the Orioles boards were unhappy when the team paid Davis over Machado and then hung on to him until the deadline. The return that was eventually agreed upon was disappointing to most. I’m not saying it will happen but it certainly could. It will be interesting…. I hope for you guys that you get what you feel is a fleecing. I just don’t want it to be from the Orioles.
