Lowder was the #7 pick this year so he hasn’t pitched (no change), Arroyo is a SS with a .757 OPS this year (maybe he will move a few slots ), Phillips is 22 had a 3.58 ERA at AA, 4.69 At AAA , and 6.+ in the majors, he was clearly rushed. Is there really a reason to devalue him ? If so they shouldn’t sell low and he should start his year at AA imo. Petty had an ERA under 2 this season in 18 starts and has 2 grade 60 pitches and 50 control. My guess is he’s a riser….Does he make the top 100….I have no idea. If Getz was devaluing Phillips why was he asking for him. This plus a lottery ticket is a gigantic return. You guys are dreaming over Schulz but who was drafted a year earlier and 19 slots later than Lowder and only pitched 27 innings this year. So I’m guessing you’d rate him extremely high if he was a White Sox prospect.

MLB has Lowder #41, Arroyo #57, Phillips #68, Petty , and a lottery ticket for the sake of argument. There #2, #3, #4, and #6 prospects graded (55,55, 55, and 50). Let’s do this another way, if you were a Reds fan would you think this is a reasonable offer? If you say yes you’re just not being objective about it. If I’m a Reds fans it’s a hell to the no and quickly. I don’t blame the Reds for moving on. Cease would be a good addition to almost any team. He’s got a really reasonable contract, has 2 years of control, and has potential to give you ace production. But, the ask is so high that they can’t find a buyer.

So IMO, Basallo, Mayo , and Kjerstad are all bat 1st 1B, DH, RF types. Big slow guys, there is hope Mayo’s defense will play at 3B because of his arm. How many of that type of players do the Orioles need?

That would be our #5, #7, #11, and Urias. (Per MLB). Why do you guys think this would Piss anyone off? Wouldn’t be upset about this deal. Basallo would be the part that hurts a bit. The deal has to hurt a bit on both sides to be fair.

I guess it’s possible…I can’t say I know a lot about the Reds front office relationship with their fans. But, if Elias misses out on Cease and he feels the price was too much he wouldn’t have to have a MASN reporter lie about the asking price. It just seems like a wishy washy theory. Why wouldn’t the Reds GM just say we tried but didn’t want to meet the price?

So …The Yankees are projected about $40 million over the luxury tax with estimated arb numbers. They can’t go for both unless they completely blow up their cap number. So I’m not sure Snell is even on the table for them. Cease makes sense with his contract but they have to be willing to take a significant hit to the top of their farm.

But here is what the Yankees people are saying The asking price is the problem. Again, it will be good for you guys if someone buys. But most of what’s being leaked is say8ng similar things.

What does that tell you ? That tells me the asking price as extremely high.

I guess Elias assumed he could get a better upgrade. We will see if he’s able to do that. He claimed to be after a #1 when the offseason started. Because Bradish was in the Cy Young conversation, Grayson Rodriguez had an awesome 2nd half, and Kremer had a very good year after a horrid April. I assume he would’ve started the next game if we managed to win one. I don’t care about his stats before he was an Oriole. Same with Lyles the year before who over performed here. They didn’t try to resign him, as I said Elias was/is aiming higher. The Cardinals struck fast or they might have circled back. The Orioles are by standards a small market team since baseball owners forced the expose into the area.

So there #2, #3, #4, #6 , and another piece is absurd. Per MLB.com’s “dated list” that’s #41, #57, and #63 plus Petty and another prospect. I mean Lowder and Petty and not much else is probably pretty close imo.
