  1. Torres and Woodruff are relevant for draft as club would have received comp pick after 1st round pushing Sox 2nd pick backwards. As it stands only Dbacks (Gallen) will get comp pick after 1st. Then Cubs (Tucker) and Astros (Valdez) will get comp picks after 2nd round; all the rest that rejected were luxury tax payers so comp picks after the 4th?
  2. If protect all 6 and get to 40, assume 4 spots will open up at start of season (Thorpe, Berroa, Bush, Adams on 60 day IL). Plus 2 more are out of options: Korey Lee (traded?) and Ramos (he can probably be DFA'd in spring and retained off of 40 man); so lots of spots will open up but not until end of spring training so guessing most free agent activity will be of minor contract variety and require earning a spot. Gus Varland is included but haven't seen him pitch this year, not sure what is going on there injury wise.
  3. Starting with the 38 they have now on active roster: 4 are free agents (Rojas, Taylor, Civale, Alexander) 3 get added back on from 60 day IL (Thorpe, Bush, Berroa) 3 seem like obvious drops (Noda, White, Shuster) of which later 2 are out of minor league options anyway That gets you to 34 in offseason and the 6 spots for rule 5 protection
  4. Schweitzer has had a rough go of it in Charlotte so can't imagine he will require rule 5 protection, however the other pitcher they got back from Rays (Peoples) will so 6 feels about right
  5. Tobias Meyers cycled through the Orioles, Rays, Giants and Indians systems before he pitched 13 innings in Charlotte with a 15.92 ERA and 3.3 WHIP. Feel like that is more of a hat tip to Brewer's system than slight to Sox.
  6. Alejandro Cruz heads White Sox 2025 international signings It's at the bottom
  7. Merkin's article quotes the signing bonus of Alan Escobar and Jefrank Sivla at $350k each. If that's the case I think they've spent $5.6m of their budget and only have roughly $600k left for the year.
  8. So if yobal signed in December then they were able to use that extra $700k after all?
  9. Did I miss something or are we still waiting on Dominican signings? If so really like to drag this out, huh?
  10. Mena trade got me thinking what the AAA rotation would look like then just moved along all the way down the farm system. As recently as last year there were only 2-3 guys per level I was interested in looking at the box score from starting pitching side. This year, I would say most levels have guys I'm at least interested in checking box score every night and some levels have more than 5 legit SP candidates. Thoughts? I assume Woodford, Vera, Simas, Gosswein, Kelley, etc are bullpen only options. Guessing on promotions vs. repeating to try to make numbers even per level. AAA SP1: Nick Nastrini SP2: Jared Shuster SP3: Sean Burke (if he's healthy?) SP4: Johan Dominguez SP5: Josimar Cousin (given age and recent 40 man status promotion) SP6: Chad Kuhl SP7: Berroa or Crochet (if trying to stretch out?) IR: Davis Martin AA SP1: Jake Eder (hopeful but make him earn promotion) SP2: Jonathan Cannon SP3: Matthew Thompson (young enough to repeat AA to start) SP4: Ky Bush (make him earn promotion) SP5: Juan Carela SP6: Mason Adams A+ SP1: Noah Schultz SP2: Peyton Pallette SP3: Tanner McDougal SP4: Tyler Schweitzer SP5: Shane Murphy SP6: Connor McCullough A SP1: Grant Taylor SP2: Seth Keener SP3: Aldrin Batista SP4: Lucas Gordon SP5: Jake Peppers Rookie: SP1: Christian Oppor SP2: Maximo Martinez SP3: Mathia LaCombe SP4: Luis Reyes SP5: Jeremy Gonzalez SP6: Denny Lima
  11. Anderson has a fair amount of RF on his fielding stats but does give you flexibility if Colas pushes his way back up or get RF back from Cease now or during season and/or Moncada gets hurt early in season before Ramos ready. 221 games played in RF vs. 402 played at third. 14. I'm with WestEddy; I at least see positive signs to watch/root for. If they keep Cease and sign a respectable RF then I'm not laying any cash down on it but who knows in a bad division. Eloy/Yoan know they are playing for their next payday so feel good that we will see their most motivated performances in some time. Otherwise have hope that Bannister can produce some useful pitching assets for the deadline out of all the projects he's inherited and then watch some of the young kids come up at the end of the year.
