  2. Sox take, 18th round pick, Cory Haggerty 2B - New York State @ Cortland That's it guys, I'm done. I have a haircut at 6 PM (it's 5:50 in Valparaiso, IN), and I have a final to study for. When I get home I'll dig up some info on the 19th and 20th round picks. So far, looks like a very solid draft.
  3. Sox take, 17th round pick, Guillermo Martinez - SS, Miami Coral Park HS (FL) COMMENT: Body type sim to Roberto Alomar. Upright stance, feet shoulder width. Quick bat.
  4. Yeah, I want to say Chris Smith.
  5. Sox take, 16th round pick, Cody Dickens - RHP, Surry Community College
  6. Sox take, 15th round pick, Greg Moviel - LHP, Saint Ignatius HS (Cleveland, OF) COMMENT: Similar build to Mark Mulder. Full windup, 3/4 delivery. Sound mechanics. Most fastballs 90 with tail, run, occasional sink when down in zone. Occasionally cuts fastball. 3/4 rotation curveball, sharp break, tight rotation, slurve action. Change shows promise. Control will need time. He's 6'6 220.
  7. Sox take, 14th round pick, Ricardo Nanita - CF, Florida International Info: COMMENT: Strong body. Bat speed through zone, ball jumps off bat. Solid power to all fields, especially gaps. Runs better underway. Solid glove, good defensive actions. Arm strength with accuracy. Profiles in LF. Aggressive hitter. Swings well with wood.
  8. Sox take, 13th round pick, Wes Hodges - SS, Baylor Schools HS (TN) Info on Hodges: COMMENT: Big, strong. Gets bat through zone. Attacks his pitch, can smoke it, especially pull. Does not have to get it all to drive it in. Easy throws, good carry. Fairly soft hands. Power potential with all around game. WTF who gets drafted from the New York Institute of Technology!!?? Someond did, apparently.
  9. Sox take, 12th round pick, Donald Veal - LHP, Buena HS Arizona Info on Veal: COMMENT: Arm and delivery work very good. Loose, free and easy arm action with downhill plane. Natural tailing fastball with occasional late riding life. Fair feel for curveball, tight, fair depth, occasional bite. Good projection of body with room for added strength. Projectable stuff with feel for pitching. Needs to focus on throwing changeup.
  10. Omg, the A's just drafted a Russian guy from Indiana University. Vassili something, go Russkies who play baseball!
  11. Sox take, 11th round pick, Richard Brooks - RHP, North Tonawanda HS Info on Brooks: COMMENT: Thin athletic body. Mariano Rivera clone. Excellent athletic agility. Live, quick, free arm action. Has the arm, athletic body and make-up. Tight curve, potential Major League out pitch. Nice Spanish guy with the announcement of Pittsburgh's pick. Puerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrto Rrrrrico. Laff.
  12. The guys from MLB Radio said that Fraser struggled through injuries, and his Dad died, so I would defintely throw this year out. He seems to be a power lefty, and a value at 10.
  13. Dizard's info: http://usctrojans.ocsn.com/sports/m-basebl...d_fraser00.html Bad stats this year, 6 ERA.
  14. Sox take, 10th round pick, Fraser Dizard - USC, LHP Info: COMMENT: Solid, athletic build. Evenly proportioned. Body similar to Randy Wolf. Fluid, easy arm action and delivery. Occasional life with lefty bore movement. Solid, average fastball, mostly 89-90 mph. Occasional sharp, late, downer curveball. Confidence in abilities. Crafty, can find hitters' weaknesses. Cook's stats (9th): .345-15-61 33 BB 40 SO .428 OBP .599 SLG% http://muredhawks.ocsn.com/sports/m-basebl...ok_david00.html
  15. Round 9, OMFG IT'S MADNESS, MADNESS I SAY. The players are flying off the board, seriously. Sox take, 8th round, John Russ - Frank Phillips College, RHP MLB says: COMMENT: Medium-large frame. Similar to Ryan Franklin. Quick arm, proper action. Fastball with average velocity with sink when down. Knuckleball with tight rotation, 3/4 bite at times. Starting to throw a change, should improve. Will develop as a Major League pitcher. Sox take, 9th round selection, David Cook - Miami (OH), CF
  16. The Sox just selected someone in the 8th Round, I'm after 'em! Haven't found him yet, but listening to Tommy Lasorda struggle through names and announce them is great.
  17. Chris Kelly's stats: .337 (83/246) 23 2B 15 HR 55 RBI .622 SLG % 13 BB 43 SO (ick) .373 OBP
  18. Ah, found 'em! 6th round selection: Chris Kelly, 1B, Pepperdine University 7th round selection: James Casey, RHP, Hazel
  19. Ok, something is wrong here. TeamOneBaseball reports that the Sox have selected James Casey, RHP, from Hazel. Odd thing is, they say 7th round. I could have sworn the draft was in the 6th.
  20. The Sox selected....umm somebody. TeamOne skipped a ton of teams in the 6th round for some reason.
  21. Actually, I played a ton of sports when I was younger. I have played basketball since I was 3 or so, and would have made the middle-school team both years if not for injuries. Almost broke my wrist one year, then broke my finger in the other. I made the Golf team Freshman year in High School, and quit Sophomore year to get a job. I don't play many sports now, but I play basketball for fun. Unfortunately, I'm a 6'2 kid with no vertical at all
  22. Going with a friend of mine, should be fun. Going to enjoy the softball game, too, especially with Adam Carolla and Jimmy Kimmel playing.
  23. 6th round just started back up, I gave up listening to the radio. I have a feeling I might just have to bomb my Foreign Policy test tomorrow to find some info on these guys. Five finals down, one to go. So far, A, A-, B, A, and not sure of the other one. 4.0 GPA here I come.
