  1. No real prospects in AAA, or even AA (position player wise), so help will be a few years away. Here is who I think has a shot to contribute: Aaron Miles (fringe) Ed Almonte (fringe) Jon Rauch (semi-fringe) Felix Diaz (Legit) Arnie Munoz (...8 ERA?) Scott Bikowski (OBP machine, fringe) Royce Ring (legit) Neal Cotts (eh....) Enemencio Pacheco (Seems to be legit, only 23) Daylan Holt (fringe) Jeremy Reed (legit) Ruddy Yan (eh..promote him to AA) Frank Francisco (Fringe) Kris Honel (Legit) Ryan Wing (Legit) Ryan Meaux (fringe) Anthony Webster (Legit) Thomas Brice (In-between) Then you have Schnurstein, Haigwood, Rodriguez, etc.
  2. Our players can't hit? ....Duh. No prospects? Dead wrong.
  3. Bring up Brumbaugh, C Lee's .308 OBP could be easily reproduced.
  4. Alomar - .296 Olivo - .300 Konerko - .292 Jimenez - .382 Valentin - .296 Crede - .259 Lee - .308 Ordonez - .347 Thomas - .407 Rios - .275 Graffanino - .388 Daubach - .322 Average - .318 All the stats listed above are on-base percentage. All players listed in bold have OBP's are, in my mind, acceptable. If you're not getting on-base, you're making outs. And people wonder why I'd tear this team apart if I was GM. Also, if you want a reason to trade Crede, which for f***s sake should happen right now, Crede's OBP last year was... .311 He hit .285, his OBP was .3 f***ing 11? Human out machine right there.
  5. Lee has a .308 OBP. Thank God you're not the manager.

    burns baby

Yeah, because we know how better off we would have been with Dan Evans running the show....
  7. You want prospects, huh??? HUH??? Well, just wait, Jason, Mark, and I have whipped up our Top 50 Prospect list, and should be up tomorrow if all goes well.
  8. Makes me want to watch the game tonight, WEWT!!!!!

    YoFu

    He's 29, try again.

    Koch

Probably the best outing I've seen out of Koch so far this year. All of his pitches were in the vicinity of wher he wanted them to be, and if they missed, they missed where the hitter could not capitalize on them. Was hitting up 96 on the gun, and looked very good tonight.
  11. Have a commercial with Willie freestyling or something, I might laugh.
  12. Then explain to me how Billy Beane wins in Oakland, with Steve Schott as the owner. His payroll is around 50 million, but he wins.
  13. There is a big difference in what the Sox had in 2000, and what, say the Oakland Athletics have. The entire Sox organization mostly bases their prospects on what a prospect is defined to be: "What we can make him right now" rather than "What he already is right now." The A's spend draft picks and free agents not on potential, but on what their stats display to the organization. If no one klnows about Jeremy Brown, read up on him: A's scouts said that he was too fat, and shouldn't even be drafted. This was a guy who was the all-time leader in hits and OBP for Alabama, as a catcher. yet, he is still referred to as a non-prospect. Why? Plate discipline and hitting is almost impossible to teach successfully, more often that not a hitter will revert back to his old form of baseball, which is usually detremental to him being successful. Anyone who already possesses these qualities is already one step ahead of the raw 5 tool guys.
  14. The Sox enforce a soft pitch limit of about a 100 throughout every minor league team. So, as Cotts approaches 100, he will get yanked.
  15. The White Flag trade got the Sox a massive four-five prospects. With the trading and comp picks that Mark Shapiro got, he got at least a DOZEN players that will help him eventually.
  16. Look what Cleveland has done, and look at their position for the future. That's what you have to do.
  17. My own opinion, but I probably have a better grasp of what to do than K-Dub: First, fire Manuel. Self explanatory. Trade Konerko. Too slow, one dimensional. Trade for position players. Have Daubach as your 1B for he time being. Trade Thomas. For pitchers who don't light up the damn gun. Get pitchers who have great stats. Keep C Lee, let him leave as a FA. Get your Type A compensation, laugh your way to the bank. Give Crede until the A-S break to get out of his funk. If he struggles, trade him; more position players. If White is a Type A or B player keep him, if he isn't trade him for a PTBNL of little value to the opposing organization. Ditto with Gordon. Call up Almonte, Ring to replace them. Trade Jon Garland for an outfielder to replace C Lee. J.D. Drew would be nice, won't happen. Get speed, somehow some way. See if Loaiza continues his success throughout the year, if he does, pick up his option. Nothing to lose. Try to resign Colon, when he asks for 10+ million, laugh and get your comp picks. Let Jose Valentin go, get your comp picks. Spend saved money on an outfielder/1B and a good shortstop. Draft s***load of players with your umpteen thousand picks in the first round. Follow stats, take minimal risks on high hyped players. Plan your future rotation WITHOUT Buehrle: Rauch? Cotts? Wing? Honel? Wright? etc etc. One of them WILL pan out, and you have Buehrle 'til 2006. Good fallback plan. Anoint Anthony Webster as God and as new Pope; Reed as pseudo-God. Fire your current scouts, they are most likely morons. Throw JR down a flight of stairs.
  18. I nominate myself as the next Sox GM. But, to be honest, I'd pick Mark DePodesta. He is a huge believer in Sabermetrics, as am I.
  19. Have to send ya those Minor League dealies.
  20. Heh, birthday turned out better than expected. I received the book Moneyball, which is really great so far. Also received the following: Every episode of Beavis and Butthead on DVD (OMG yes!) Bull Durham on DVD Super Troopers on DVD Memento Special Edition DVD (Wewt!) I didn't get Baseball Prospectus or the Family Guy DVD set, but that's fine.
  21. Going to call up anyone to give us a fourth outfielder, or are we going to be fine with 24 players for the time being?
  22. Seperated shoulder is what I heard. I feel bad for Willie, hope he gets better. Miles will NOT be called up. If anyone will be called up, it's going to be Borchard or Rowand.
  23. Yes, he is related to Tim. I'm not too high on Rick, only because he's coming out of College and was put in Low-A ball. If you want someone to look at, try Josh Rupe.
