  1. great job and alot of info. i think, i may be wrong, but Fulmer is this yr triple crown pitcher. also he has a young arm, considering that he was used mostly as a reliever, so working as a sp and with the pitching coaches of the sox org, he will not only get stronger, but become a better pitcher. this was the BPA without a doubt.
  2. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 06:10 AM) The FA hitters are expensive and the bust rate is high. Chu and Ellsbury got outrageous contracts. Who's the big dog this year? Heyward (not a particularly good hitter) and Upton (a very good hitter) Both will have crazy prices. and that is my point, the sox will have to find ways to address the lack of hitters in the system. also remember the hitter we do have, have a limited contract.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 05:58 AM) Sale: Ace Rodon: Ace potential Elite #2 Samardzjia: Elite #2 Jose Quintana: Elite #2 That's the starting four... Fulmer: Ace potential Elite #2 Adams: Ace potential Danish: Elite #2 potential solid #3 Montas: Elite #2 potential jury still out You simply need one of those four to be a good #5 for an elite rotation. Anything more and suddenly you've got some exciting and very valuable trade chips. interesting post. i may not agree with your ranking, but then again, everyone will have a different opinion.
  4. Does anyone knows who's Fulmer agent is or i should say his adviser is?
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 03:37 AM) Chances Matuella makes it to the fourth? If so, do you take him? no, now it is time to start drafting some overlook college seniors and jr, hitters.
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 03:52 AM) Oh that sucks. I remember LDF talking highly about Dewees. dang it..... i really hate this.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 04:02 AM) Something's up with Matuella. BA had Matuella ranked 23 and were now 73 picks into the draft and there he sits? it is that rare illness/injury that he has.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:34 AM) No, but the term rushed is overblown IMO. i totally agree on overblown. it is a term that matches well as "damn if you, damn if you don't" in the hindsight game of looking at the past, rushing players is really not working. just recently i can think of 2 players that it didn't help the club, but in realty hurt the prospect. Eric Johnson, and Hawkins. pushing the players from A thru AA, ok, i can see it, now can you pls explain to me, why do it??? wouldn't it be better to fully develop a player?? how many times has it hurt, or better yet, lets say in the last 15 yrs, beside Sale, who else has it helped? pls don't include Rodon in that group b/c he is really not ready. he is still learning his craft.
  9. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 04:22 AM) Samardzija has a good chance of bringing a comp pick and a more valuable one that Type B was. Sure it was an idiotic move...Sox make a lot of those. The trade to dump Jackson was poor as well. Basically did a favor to Toronto. But other teams make them as well...let them make one with us. i'm thinking they need to move another pitcher as well. They keep passing on college hitters to draft these pitchers, well you have to get your hitters from somewhere. And KW fav declining 30 year olds and utility talent isn't working. nice, i really have no clue how the sox will address the lack of hitters, esp if they can't do it via FA.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 02:32 AM) No clue what you are saying. After being an assistant in Tampa for many years , Martinez did not get chosen to be his replacement. The choice was not Maddon versus Martinez it was Martinez versus Kevin Cash. come on, you can't be this ....... fill in the bland. post #13 of this thread. it is all there, if you still are a hard time figuring this out, leave me alone, you are hopeless.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:25 AM) Just to note - Samardzija is performing significantly worse than Edwin Jackson was when he was traded. The return in the Edwin Jackson deal was "someone absorbed Teahen's contract", Jason Frasor, and Zach Stewart. The Blue Jays then got the "Cardinals desperate to move him" Colby Rasmus. as far as i know the sox are not desperate to move him, or no rumors to trade him either. that is the difference.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:22 AM) When Himes drafted McDowell, Ventura, Thomas, and Fernandez, no one complaned they were rushed. to tell you the truth, i can't remember much from that era. but again, look at the talent level, how can you compare those guys to a Jared Mitchel, Josh Phegley, Aaron Poreda, Gordon Beckham.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:40 AM) I don't know why a contending team would give up 2-3 prospects for him. no way 3 prospects, may a 1 solid and 1 a high teen top 20, and that is if that trade was done sometime before the ASG
  14. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:18 AM) There's no reason to rush him up into a bullpen. That's such a waste of an asset. welcome to the world of the sox FO.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:17 AM) Fulmer says he wants to be a starter, would do whatever to help team though. now that is what i want to hear..... someone who is team first. any word on his agent???
  16. i will say this, i was not for Fulmer, but now that he is a sox, i want him to fully develop. i really think he needs arm strength. it is going to be interesting. i also hopes he stays and develop as a sp.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:36 AM) HUH???? Your confused. Once the Cubs chose Maddon, Tampa did not hire Martinez to replace him. They hired cash instead. i am not confused. you said --- no where is Tampa mention and i didn't mention Tampa. all i said is if i had to choose between Maddon and Martinez, i too would chose Maddon. see

QUOTE (Brian26 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:53 PM) How on earth does one read the original post and not know the entire point revolves around Skinner? there is a little amber arrow next to the time. click it and it takes it back to the org.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:53 PM) I thought Dave Martinez should have been the choice when the Sox chose RV. Having said that, Martinez has been up for several jobs since and been passed over. When he didn't get chosen to replace Maddon, I thought maybe he is not considered as highly as a manager replacement. if it was me and the choice would be Martinez or Maddon, i too would have chosen Maddon. btw, isn't Martinez still with Maddon in chi?
  20. if the sox take a positional player, i wouldn't mind that. with Hahn redoing some of the coaches, and Hahn looking over the entire system, i would trust him.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 05:43 PM) Honestly, I wanted nothing to do with Samardzija even before the trade so,yes, I would have the same opinion. I didn't like giving up prospects for a one year of a pitcher that has consistently said he will test the FA market after the 2015 season. Would have preferred those prospects used on a pitcher that came with more years of control. In fact, I remember saying that when the thread was made last November. Another thing I didn't like was the idea of a multi year contract to a pitcher that will be 31 by the start of ST 2016. To me, none of it added up to being the right move. there were a hand full of poster who rather objected, i was 1 and i know or 2 more, but i don't remember you posting. my bad. either way, Shark is on the team, and i want the best to happen.
  22. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) He just got DFA'd by the Astros. Sox have the 2nd priority in the waiver wire. If Oakland does not claim him, if I'm Hahn, I would be all over this just for depth purposes and create more competition. ahhhh no! here is a nice article on him. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2015/2/13...os-bad-baseball

while the idea of Skinner is nice, and he is internal. i am wondering if the sox should go outside the org for a replacement manager. i am still thinking of several former players who has major league experiences. i can't exactly remember the previous list i made, i know i am missing one more name. but i still like these candidates. and these are in my order of preference. 1. Mike Maddu - pitching coach atl. 2. Dave Martinez as i said there were a couple more, but i can't remember who??
  24. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 04:18 PM) With the way Samardzija has pitched, I would have no problem with giving Drabek, Beck or Johnson a shot next year and spend the 16M elsewhere. There are still holes at 3B, C and 2B that money could help with. Don't get me wrong, I would rather the Sox had better choices than Samardzija, Beck, Drabek and Johnson but that's what they have for now. The Sox really need to learn not to trade with Oakland. would you have had the same opinion if the sox, Shark would have been doing better???
  25. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) There's nobody on the major league team to trade. Ramirez and Samardzija would be about it. hmmm Sale, Q, Rodon, Jose A, and i am sure someone will look to Avi,
