QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 05:03 PM) Actually he did get more money then anyone else in the draft. Even if Aiken would have signed for his originally agreed to $6.5 million, Rodon got $6.582 million. you are right, i was thinking something totally different. my bad. good catch.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) Phil Jackson rode his players hard, and they practiced very hard. If Thibs is Collins and Hoiberg is Phil, now all we need is Michael and Scottie. Yes, he's a little more Zen-like, a lot more unconventional. Taj Gibson, one guy they are trying to pin all his injuries on Thibs, loved him. Rose loved him. I read something where Phil used to pick on Horace Grant on purpose because he was very popular with his teammates and they would rally around him. Horace hated it, but apparently it worked. There was no need for the JR press release. There was no need for GarPax to say anything more than they appreciate what Thibs did, it was time to move on. To me there are 2 factors. Obviously both sides hated each other. The second factor is, they can't beat LeBron. They won't be able to really shake up their core for a year or 2, so Hoiberg is their way to try something else. There is no need to leak the offense was horrible, because it wasn't. There was no need to leak the players wanted Thibs out. Cowley got a player BEFORE that came out and the player said GarPax spent the exit interview slamming Thibs. It will be interesting to see how Hoiberg transistions to the NBA. I do know one thing, if this is basically the roster, they won't beat Cleveland next year either. what a low class so and so, garpax is for doing this. really classless act. btw, nice find.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) I'm assuming he means he doesn't have Cameron going in the top 30 picks, not that he isn't a top 30 talent....signability affects your draft status, not your prospect status. no not that, it is the feelers that the what the results are really for, for Cameron and his camp.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) I disagree. What's wrong with having 2 aces and a #2? All 3 of which are bargains for next 6 seasons. I'm not trading Q unless I get a ton in return. many options..... this is what is present for next yr. the problems with all this enthusiasm is first, lets Rodon fully develop and then lets see what the sox have in him. also lets the sox see what is needed next offseson. re Q, on the other hand, what we think his value is, and then what the rest of the baseball world thinks will be different.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) The Sox should have left him at 3B. His defense is great and he was very good at 2B also. I see criticism of his past offense but maybe you should be praising a player who took steps to improve himself. my main point then and which leads to today's stats, he was never, imo, fully developed as a hitter. a season or 2 could in the minors could have done wonders for him. oh well, that is the price of rushing a prospect to the majors.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:04 PM) Fulmer will sign. Law doesn't have Daz Cameron in his top 30 mock though. He says that Cameron (Boras) is asking for too much money and may drop. and he is not even drafted yet. jeez.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) If the Sox were able to sign Rodon, they'll be able to sign Fulmer or any other Boras clients. yeah, and last yr, the sox over spent on his salary and over the slot suggested. Rodon and agent wanted more money than the #1 pick, which he didn't get. but the sox spent the rest of the entire money allotted for salary and even the cushion money. so no one is going to know what the entire conversation is going to like. hell fulmer may not even be there.

QUOTE (LDF @ May 29, 2015 -> 11:14 PM) Chickens are not allowed to cross the road > Georgia You can be arrested or fined for harassing Bigfoot > Wash st. so far no one had ever been arrested for violating this laws, which are still in effect, but with ref to these laws.... can you imaging the huge traffic jam that will happen, all those poor chickens getting killerd. then the poultry industry will go down the tubes. the poor farmers who will go bankrupt. no money for their family, and then those drivers who killed the chickens, they might even start spewing. they might be traumatize and will stop eating meat all together. now you will have the poor cattle farmers and pig farmers going bankrupt. re in wash st. the poor poor creature, this law was est in the 60's or 70's. can you imagine now, this creature will be this old pathetic, arthritic creature who prob has a hard time getting around, just b/c some young whipper snapper wants to terrorize this creature and take pictures. remember this creature prob doesn't have senior citizen medical coverage.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) Agreed. Signability just really isn't that big of a concern anymore for non-HS players. You will still have occasional guys like Appel not sign but it is going to be very rare and Fulmer isn't a guy who will be able to go #1 overall next year like Appel was able to do. this is me, the whole Scott B presence has be jumpy, that is if he is Fulmer advisor and / or of Fulmer is there at #8
-
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) He wasn't drafted until the 15th round of high school when he didn't sign. There won't be issues signing him. no one really knows that, esp if his advisor is Scott B.
-
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:40 PM) No. LDF specifically mentioned HS guys that may fall. White Sox won't have overspending later (rounds 4-10) as an option this year unless they go way under in round 1 which I don't see them doing. thanks. that first pick#8, they the hawks oops the sox will prob swing for the fence. but that is what i am saying, who??? i am just overly excited. the unknown.

QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) Keith Law's latest mock has Tyler Jay and Carson Fulmer on the board for the Sox and they select..... Carson Fulmer. Zzzzzzzzz "Analysis: I've heard Fulmer and Jay placed here the most, with James Kaprielian and Missouri State right-handed pitcher Jon Harris also on their short list." while Fulmer has a nice sets of tools. but his past signing venture has to come into my mind. he was selected before, somewhere in the teens. he wanted more money than the team who selected was offering. now with the slot allotted money, will that be ok?? who is his advisor???

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) They are incredible numbers. Roughly translated that means about 1 in 3 televisions in the Chicago market was tuned to the Hawks game. really freaking nice!!!!!
-
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:25 PM) I will say that he should have never have been moved from third base. He would be what hawk thought he was as a fielder at 3rd base and make up for some of his hitting shortfalls. i totally agree, when the sox was thinking of moving him to 2nb, the sox org laid out all this hype and i think, for a young man, everything was too much. in other words, rushing him thru the system. i ranted on this a long freaking time ago. but then again, i am a fan, so what in hades do i know.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:24 PM) Nobody that they can realistically afford if they go slot at #8. Losing 2nd and 3rd round picks really hurts the draft allotment quite a bit. I'd start studying up on college seniors. but the key is #8 pick. this is a top 10 pick and therefore that player should be an impact type player whether it is a college or hs'er. ref hs'er he needs to ooze potential to warrant a top 10 pick. then comes in the strategy picks for some team looking toward the future growth. just my opinion.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) Jeff Nuich @JeffNuich 41m41 minutes ago TV RATINGS: #Blackhawks #StanleyCup Gm 1 - 28.0 avg in the Chicago mrkt...36.2 "peak" rtg = 1.26M homes tuning in. can you help me out, are these good numbers???

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) Enjoyed the camera angle behind teuvo seeing what he saw as he launched the puck. Incredible goal. the growth of the use of the camera has been outstanding. i can't think of some other teams having a better crew. then again i am a chi fan. the worst for me is Wash, Buf and 2 yrs ago one of the Canadian teams.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) Anyone with insider that can send me the Keith Law mock? My insider ran out on Monday and I haven't gotten a chance to renew it yet. not I, wish i could help.

ok sox fans, i got this big rush of adrenaline fron today's game thread ...... the draft countdown is starting and i feel as this will be an unknown pick. the major pitchers may be gone. so who will the sox pick at #8? which players are going to drop to the 4 round and later. i see several injured prospects that is flying under the radar. which prep will be avail??

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) www.fangraphs.com/scoutboard.aspx This is also a very handy tool...Cornelius Randolph has shot up all the way to the 10-15 spot. Haven't heard much about him. 3B. HS kid. the biggest question is whether his defense will continue to be good enuf to stay at short. great bat and many mock people still hopes his hit tools will continue to grow. he might wind up at 3b. and he has plus defense if he moves to 3b.

QUOTE (DashFan @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) Don't stop believin', hold on to that (offseason) feeeelin'! EXCELLENT 2 post. what a way to get me geared up to today's game. i am not B/S'ing either. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) It will be interesting to see if these guys get healthy, whose spots they take. We are pretty deep in righties in the pen. you know, yesterday someone made a post about how long they been away. with that, they may do well and go to the minors for the rest of the season to build up arm strength and endurance. but i am sure the FO has a game plan set up.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 02:32 PM) Sometimes, especially when he's hitting well, Avi looks really good in RF. But usually, he looks like the fans they used to have trying to catch balls shot out of a little canon for Comiskey Cash and United tickets on Friday nights. now that will be a classic description.

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 12:37 PM) I think Q is the key. I agree w LDF that Danks will only bring salary relief. Shark brings a return but he is a short term rental and as such might bring 1 player back in return. I think Q can bring a couple of players back that could hopefully fill some holes. But that opens a rotation spot and if you don't sign shark it means 2 next year. I was hoping the Sox could offer Q to Boston since they needed a lefty starter and always have a bunch of prospects available. But they called up a young lefty who has thrown 2 straight wins so I think they need to find another trade partner. there is other options that can be used to get the sox players, but i rather keep the parent club intact. i am still holding out for a rebound this season. not sure how good of a rebound it will be. there are team now that needs help, Hou, Mil, Cincy, Col, Arz. even Tor. now how valid of an offer they will they present to entice the sox org, now that is a different story.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 02:11 PM) We don't know. Some combination of fate and the collective that runs the White Sox. The good news is that it's only important to us if we insist on having a scapegoat to blame. It really doesn't matter at all. I understand why we, as fans, all WANT to have enough information and insight to make hiring/firing decisions for our favorite team, but the fact is that we just don't and we never will. and this QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) It could be other teams were asking too much for their players. It could be guys they wanted to sign chose other teams. It could be they ran out of budget to fill holes. The It's either a team that should lead the division by 20 games by the end of May or should be rebuilding, is a figment of the chronic whiners' around here collective imaginations. Add the fire someone to show accountability crap, yet they don't want to hold the players, the people most accountable, accountable. are both excellent posts.
