    With or Without

If Rowand hits .280/15/70, I'll piss myself with joy. But I don't see it happening. Hell, I'd be happy with .250/15/50. My fear is he'll hit .235 with an OBP of .292, or something horrid like that. It was bad enough when Singleton was putting up those kind of numbers (albeit with less power) but he was much better defensively than Rowand. Then again, I don't think the numbers you suggested are entirely out of reach. I just doubt he'll be that good. I don't think there are more than a handful of CFs in the AL that put up numbers that good last year. 15 hrs????????? i really doubt that.

    Another Chi Rpt

i think that they should still groom him as a starter and if anything, trade him for a prospect.
  3. i heard that tx is really suffering for signing whoreRod. (this was from ba and other mags during the baseball contract talk) so my opinion on that is GOOD.

    Barcelo

i will agree with that. i agree too....thinking back on all of KW's blunders...that one could very well top the list...how can he say that about a guy thats had 4 operations???...is it any wonder we lead the league in torn labrums?? We can thank Nardi for that. No way can you thank a Gm for something like that. Oh ya, Barcelo was afraid to throw the ball. I know he had injuries but all the mri's that came back said he was healthy, but he refused to throw it. He was simply afraid. I can't blame him, but I also can't blame KW for being upset. I think he knows how good Lorenzo could be. Some guys arms just can't handle it though. but does mri really show all injuries? he was complaining that there was something wrong with his shoulder at the time. later it was found that he did have an injury. that is how i remembered the story. now i may be wrong on this part but that is how i remembered the story. you are right, his arm and joints can not handle the stress that his body puts on them.

i think that there is hole and i think that there may be several more and with the strong pitching, we need to look into getting help.
  6. ahhh it is just a way for me to constantly bring up the subject of ray when i took a beating by posters who thinks that adkins was a hof pitcher that kw just stumble into.
  7. nope he just played baseball. he started in the of and then was put behind the plate towards the end where he flourished. jay moxox who went to lsu as well did not fair as well as zeringue.
  8. Koch. Ring will be ready for the ML's before Koch's new contract runs out. Converting RR to a starter is really the only option for the Sox..... unless they let him toil down in the minors until Koch's contract runs out/traded or deal RR. unless they bring him up and gradually work him in by working in the pen.
  9. did you know that oak is getting a draft choice for losing durham........... now who is going to tell me we didn't get screwed on this trade???????????
  10. then how bout this, who has the better stuff?

i am going to say is that the sox goes to the world series. if the sox sign rogers, then you have to realize that faith is on our side. why you ask? b/c i would never have had imagine any of boras clients signing with the sox and again if rogers signs, then you know there must be a baseball god and he must be on the sox side this season.
  18. i truly think that the sox will try munoz at as a starting pitcher.
  19. damn i wish they had sign him. i thought, according to what i read a good prospect in the making at ss.

    Barcelo

welcome aboard, jim. i see that you get the BA prospect book as well. i been a big follower of sager when they drafted him. he had a rough outing last yr and that may have affected the outlook for some of the sox org. i still think he is a good prospect and i hope he develops. ref to barcelo i been a huge fan of him since he came over in the white flag trade. barcelo was one of the key in the trade that shcu wanted. i just hope he come thru.
  21. The Sox were encouraged by Felix Diaz’ winter. The righthander acquired from San Francisco in the Kenny Lofton deal was 2-4, 3.50 in 44 innings for Licey in the Dominican. He not only was healthy, making up innings lost because of an ankle injury in 2002, but also showed improved command and low- to mid-90s velocity. Though Antonio Osuna and Rocky Biddle were lost in the Colon trade, it will be tough for a rookie reliever to crack the White Sox bullpen in spring training. The Sox followed that deal by signing free agents Tom Gordon and Rick White. That leaves righthander Matt Ginter and lefty Mike Porzio on the bubble, with rookies Edwin Almonte, David Sanders and winter sensation Arnie Munoz likely to start in Charlotte.

Now, He’s Just Insurance CHICAGO–Jorge Nunez has left behind his days as a ranked prospect but could play a role as a utility infielder for the White Sox. Acquired in the three-team, seven-player deal that brought Bartolo Colon to Chicago, Nunez must first earn playing time in a crowded Triple-A Charlotte infield. He has much to prove after a disappointing 2002 season, which began with him being rated as the No. 10 prospect in the Dodgers organization. But then it was one bad thing after another. He aged three years overnight in the crackdown on Dominican birthdates, going from 24 to 27. He was traded to the Expos along with reliever Matt Herges. Nunez landed in Triple-A but couldn’t hang on to the job at shortstop, instead shuttling back and forth between short and second base. He hit .290-0-20 with just a .322 on-base percentage and didn’t receive a big league callup. White Sox scouts nevertheless saw a useful commodity in Nunez’s speed. He was 27-for-34 in stolen base attempts, giving him 176 steals over the last four seasons. "Nunez is a slick-fielding middle infielder who can run," Sox general manager Ken Williams said. "He projects for us insurance at a utility spot in the big leagues. Unless we carry an extra utility infielder, he more than likely will end up at Triple-A." Nunez is considered a good fielder, largely because of his plus arm. Originally signed by the Blue Jays, Nunez is a career .279 hitter as a pro but has become a high-strikeout, low-walk hitter. He hit .306 for Escogido in the Dominican League but had 17 strikeouts and no walks in 72 at-bats.
