Now it's beginning to smack of 1984 with PATRIOT II in the works (which states that anybody caught by the government...citizen or not...for protesting the government "maliciously" or trying to "influence or coerce a government" will be deported for the US) HOW IS THAT FOR VAGUE WORDING TO BE ABUSED? The War on Terror...please tell me how killing everybody who hates us is going to make us safer. I personally think we'll all be safer when people aren't starving and we don't have places paying people piss poor wages so we can buy cheap running shoes. Having economic stability for people etc. is how to make our homeland secure...not some crazy missile defense system that Raytheon and Bush are planning. (Exactly how will tactical nuclear missiles from outer space stop planes from flying into buildings, car bombs, and other terrorist activities anyways?) and b/c of 9/11, we are said that we are afraid of losing people for a purpose or idea. it is b/c of 9/11 that we need to step up and if that means being the world police then so be it. yes we got screwed by people who we have helped. but i wouldn't have have helped them. but lets look at who was dong this, the biggest crooks to ever been president and vice pres.

Or how about a lot of Russia or China hate since they were against the war as well? (Iraq owes Russia $10 billion) i have travelled to and visited the following countries in europe, france, engalnd, germany, italy, and spain. all i have to say is that i was really welcome in all except in france where i face open anger.

When a terrorist attacks Champaign Urbana, then I know they have run out of targets. This war is just planting the seeds for more anti-America hate. It's piss poor foreign policy. no matter what happens after this, the resentment will be there. if after 5 yr later, and iraq does a 360 improvement in everything, there will be resentment. this war is not to get rid of a man of government, but to get rid of someone who may rival hilter. if we could have stop hilter in the later part of the 30's, would you have done so?

Saddam is a prick. However, I think there were better non-war substitutes for getting rid of his ass and toppling his power. On March 7, Blix stated that they were getting compliance and that lethal weapons were being destroyed, but Bush seems hellbent on going to war (I mean 10 million people on 2/15 protesting...the largest protest occurs in British history, that might just tell you something about how wrong it is) It saddens me that Bush kept going on his push to war ::chants "Support our troops / Send them home":: (nearly lost my voice chanting that yesterday during the march) but the pro-war people I encountered in the past weeks and especially recently are all like "This war is perfect for toppling Saddam!" to which I ask, "If you believe in it so much, then go serve" and they all turn tail and hide in their little posh lifestyle. Why the hypocricy? I think we all concur that we support the troops but I for one am against the piss poor diplomacy used by our "President" which caused the deployment of my brothers and sisters to go kill my dark skinned brothers and sisters over 1 guy being an asshat and some f***ing oil. (Exactly how did our oil get under their sand anyway?) That is why I protest the war. I have seen enough death and destruction in the 20 years I have been on the planet already and don't need to see more especially when there are peaceful solutions to the problem. I don't want to see Iraqi or American lives shattered, families grieving, and all the other horrible s*** that goes on with warfare. If Bush had such a tight case then why was Powell's speech plagiarized and filled with lies, why can't the CIA connect Saddam to bin Laden, et al.? protester are protesting for somthing that they really understand. 1. the iraqi have used and chemical weapons. 2. they are not adverse in using them against anyone. 3. if we don't deal with them now, then who will they use it on. ref to the protester.. find protest but why stop traffic, costing the cities in using money which could be used for better use. stoping the idea of cops and others in doing there duty.

i was in france about 8 yrs ago. i went to visit my brother who was studying bakery in france. we went out with the class to paris. there we all went in and was told to wait. this was about 10+ students talking all english. my sister started taking to us in spanish and a waitress heard us and escprted us to a table. at the table she mention that she was sorry for making us wait and thought we were part of the american jerks. i was reallly upset and told her off and left. the other students heard what i said and also left. my question is what did we ever do to offend them? my response to them is :fyou to the country of france and their people.

i am not a jr basher and in fact i have been a jr backer. (poetic i like that) i have defended him in the past as many here will tell you. what i have been critical of him is that he has been blind to those he supports. in ref to money, i think he will come up with the money if the people tell him. the prob now is that following and supporting the wrong people has put the sox behind the 8 ball. but he needs to come up with a little more now to take advantage of the situation. we are in the a perfect situation to win now.

Get real. The Sox drew 1,675,591 in 2002. Putting money into this team was not realistic. They did what they did (signed Frank, acquired Koch, signed Gordon, signed Daubach, and traded for Bartolo Colon), and did so without increasing payroll significantly. That's amazing, and there is no denying that. Second...so we have 3 question marks -- and? There aren't many teams in baseball that have fewer. You aren't going to go from being a .500 team to having 0 question marks. This team has the potential...POTENTIAL...to score 1000 runs and have 2 20-game winners, as well as 2 15+-game winners. True, that could all fall apart. Time will tell. Kent? You willing to not get Bartolo to sign him? I'm not. I-Rod? You willing to not sign Frank in order to get him? I certainly wasn't. Cruz? Please. So, unless you can name me an impact player that we could have signed without the need to break the bank, this Sox team absolutely did great this off-season considering the financial restrictions we had in place. you need to put money in a team that needs help, so what you are saying that this team don't need a influx of talent in not realistic? maybe there weren't any good fa that would have help, but there were some 2 nd level fa's that was interesting.

the bottom line is that the season ticket is up as oppose to last yr. yeah the all star prob had a lot to do with it. so lets take advantage of it and put a winning team on the field and if we do go to the playoff, so much the better for the team and fans. then they, the sox can build on that. but if they don't take advantage of this, then they are stupid. that is what i think posters like yansy, cubkilla and myself are saying.

Yeah, really...I'd attribute the 20% increase (I too didn't know that...definitely good news) to fans seeing that the Sox want to win with the Bartolo acquisition. I remember when I heard about that trade. I couldn't believe it. Definitely gave me high hopes for '03. i think the point yansy is trying to make is if the sox goes out and gets the talent to win, the fans will come and i agree with the assessment. but if he doesn't resign colon and the sox stay pat, the success they had with the fans coming out will be short live.

I swore he was a college closer or something and was a closer for most of his time in the Blue Jays minor league system. For some reason I remember a game he pitched against us when he first came up and they said he was one of the rare guys groomed to be a closer straight out of college, but maybe they were wrong. I believe they were wrong. I believe I have read that Koch was atleast starting Koch in the minor leagues in Toronto, but that he threw out his arm and needed Tommy John surgery. Since then, he has been used only as a reliever, or to be more specific, a closer. I may be wrong as well though....maybe a minor league guru like Cerb or Hudler or someone like that might now. there are many more option than using koch. that would mean our whole staff blew up. i don't even want to think about that.
