All I know is I'm glad we'll have him in our pen this season cause without him, our pen wouldn't be as good as I think it is. I think we have one of the best in the majors, if not the best, but without marte, we'd have more questionmarks and I'd have it as one of the better ones, not one of the best or the best. minn, oak and arz have a better starters imo but overall as a pen i think that maybe nyy is there with us and yes oak.

phil rogers has said in a discussion with kw that rauch can use another season in the minors. but if he does extremely well, he might start in the pen.

this one may not have been kw fault. he is a monster in size and if you can imgine just too strong for pitching. he just put too much stress on his joints. he had some huge hands, when he held a ball, it look as it was a golf ball.

why is everyone saying that rauch is heading to the minors. how bout another pitcher not making the cut, like porzio with rauch starting in the pen.

bags, you may be right but ummmm what a moron kw is. barcelo had what 4 surgeries on his pitching arm and kw said he does not know what pain is. this guy when we first got him, had a fastball close to 99 mph.

i am still unsure of this trade. marte did great at times, howevers i hate it when there were runner in scoring postion. guerrier will turn out to be a very good middle of the rotation starter. now if marte can do as well when there is runners on, but as someone said we have a lot of arms and it might have been a good sacrifice to get a really good rp.

welcome aboard and i hope to see a lot of your post, esp when the bham season starts. so the point is, are we to judge bham by its win/lose record? which i think will be very good. are we to judge them by if them make the playoff or anything like that? for me, i wish i was there b/c i will be judging them with the development of the players who will be there and i do think they will do good. I think you have to judge a Minor League team somewhere in between wins and losses and player development. The primary goal of the Major League club is player improvement and advancement. However, teaching players to win and play into the team concept when it comes to winning is important as well. I think Jerry Manual referred to this when talking about Frank and I am paraphrasing... He said that if players play well and buy into the team concept, then everyone wins and demand for that player increases. He was talking about what Frank's approach should be this year to maximize his market value for next year, should he decide to take free agency after this season. Everybody looks better when the team succeeds. I know in 1998 the Barons had Carlos Lee, Jeff Liefer, Chad Bradford, Mark Johnson, Kevin Bierne and Brian Ward - all at least had some time in the Bigs. But that team sucked and it was a miserable season. I have noticed just from talking to players around the park that aside from individual personalities, players tend to be happier and in a better mood when they are winning. That tells me that winning means something to them and that getting promoted isn't the only thing that matters. man i am enjoying everything you write and i can't find fault in. can you keep us updated when the season starts and how our players are doing. it great to read your stuff. many thanks.,

I completely agree. Almomar will not be the most productive unit of offense, and true he may not be healthy enough to put a decent contibution on the field, but he does have value off the field. He knows his position and when he was in prime, played it fairly well too. I would take him on the bench helping to guide new catchers any day, compared to the likes of Paul. welcome and i agree with you as i think most will.

Munoz is ready, but since he threw so much the Sox would be best off working him slowly this year. i will respect your opinion, however i might not agree with it. i think all could use at least another yr in the minors. eso sanders and munoz.
