QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 13, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) She would have gotten that first B a looooong time ago. She is heading to the International Baccalaureate programnext year, so I hope she learns to adjust her thinking on grades. I didn't learn to get used to B's until graduate school.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 08:03 AM) Because clouds move at differing speeds and on my earth, the rotation is constant, I must say the clouds move. However, there is also some effect from the earth's rotation. circle the parking lot to get close or take the first spot you find? First spot I find Prince Charles or Queen Elizabeth II

I agree with pretty much everything people have been saying. Although between Pickler (what's on paper?) and Paris' outfits I was kind of wondering if it was dominatrix night. And was it just me or did Pickler look a little Stevie Nixed out? Hearing the pretty awful covers really made me appreciate the real Queen a lot more. I think the best performance of the night was Taylor and the worst was probably Ace. Most of them were dull. Bottom 3: Ace, Bucky and Chris (I think his one trick pony of nu-metal, which I am soooo over is wearing thin). I think Ace will go home.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) All of a sudden towels are a one use thing around my casa. I think it is excessive. I agree, you only use them to dry off when you're already clean so why wash them everyday?

Nice story Teacher donating kidney to pupil The Associated Press Published April 10, 2006, 6:52 AM CDT A 10-year-old boy from the Will County town of New Lenox is suffering from polycystic kidney disease, and is now scheduled to receive a new kidney next month. And the donor who is giving young Brandon Shafer a kidney is none other than Patricia Donohue, his 4th-grade teacher at Oster-Oakview School. The 25-year-old Donohue is a New Lenox native who recently began teaching in her home town after a tour in the Peace Corps. School officials say she volunteered to be tested as a potential organ donor after she learned that Brandon's mother, Nandy Shafer, proved not to be a close enough match. Donohue proved to be a perfect match. She said she is glad to be donating the organ because her own father, who suffered from leukemia, owes his life to a bone marrow transplant several years ago.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 11:06 AM) This story ruined my morning. They played a portion of the phone call on the news this morning. The boy sounded confused and afraid. http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=n...orld&id=4065514 I hope they charge that operator with criminal negligence and anything else they can think of.

QUOTE(vandy125 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 01:52 PM) I too like that the Gnostic Gospels are out there. IMO, it gives more validity to the texts that were written close to when Jesus lives because IIRC, the Gnostic Gospels were written a couple hundreds years after the original gospels. That is right around the time that you would expect to see documents like that come out. By that time, any eye witnesses had died, and I would think that people would start asking "Is that how it really happened?", or they would say "I think that it is more likely that it happened this way because I just cannot believe that." IIRC, the council that decided on the canon of the NT came about as a result of things like the Gnostic Gospels that started appearing, and they wanted to get things set before they were overrun with all kinds of documents proclaiming to the "the Word of God." Although, the earliest Gospel (Mark) didn't come out until around the fall of the second temple (around 66 or 70 AD) so it's doubtful many of the people that wrote that were eyewitnesses. I understand the time componant, but I guess I'm more willing to accept the traditions of the early church as an important aspect of Christianity. In my opinion John has more in common with the gnostics than with the synoptics. I wish I had seen the special, SS, but no cable. Sad. If anyone did tape it I would gladly pay copy costs and postage for a copy.

I actually watched most of the front nine and a little of the back nine today. For some unknowable reason I'm finding golf interesting lately. It looked like a very tough course (combined with some bad nerves). I don't know much about golf, but I do like Phil Mickelson and was glad to see him win. I was kind of hoping that Fred Couples would pull out, but whatever. I was also glad that Vijay Singh didn't win, for some reason I really don't like him.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 06:46 PM) I went to the Steppenwolf Theater's 30th anniversary bash last night and got to meet Gary Sinise. It was kind of an awkward moment because I couldn't think even ONE film he's done, so I couldn't use the 'hey, I really liked you in _____" line. Luckily I remembered that he's a huge Cub fan, so we shot the bull about baseball for a while. He's really down to earth and a solid bass player. His band was the entertainment for the night. Ok, so what films has he been in? Forrest Gump Of Mice and Men Albino Alligator Snake Eyes The Green Mile (?) (that's all I can get, but I'm sure there's more)

My favorite idol re-capper. Decent read and recap of the week's show. To be honest, the last couple of weeks I've been looking forward to this guy's reviews more than the actual show.
