QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:31 PM) Freddy shuts 'em down after we score. That's good to see. No kidding, Garcia has been shaky this season after getting the lead. -

Even though our streak was broken a long time ago and it really doesn't matter, anyone know how many games the sox have led this season? -

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) That's true. Freddy needs to do a better job of holding guys on, especially after he walks them. Now here's where Scotty calls Figgens and raises him one stolen base. -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) 1) Hoffman is in the last year of his deal and is making $5 mill. 2) .248 4 23 .665 VS .282 3 18 .830. Guess who is who 3) If by bad luck you are referring to him not getting wins in his past 2 starts when he could have gotten wins, you are correct. That is not unlucky, because wins mean very little, if anything at all. We have won those past 2 games that he has pitched in, and that's all that matters to me, quite frankly. Matter of fact, the Sox are 9-2 in Buehrle starts this year. I will take that any day of the week. That is really not unlucky whatsoever. 4) While McCarthy is looked at right now as the future ace of the rotation, I would honestly not be surprised to see Anderson in a different uniform by the end of the year. I realize odds of this are small, but with both Rowand and Podsednik looking very solid for the Sox, and both being relatively young(Rowand is 27, 28 in August; Podsednik turned 29 in March), with Sweeney, Young, and Owens coming up, it would not be out of reason to think that KW could look to get a stud hitter at the deadline (an Abreu-type hitter). Given, he could also not look to giving up 2-3 very solid prospects, including Anderson, to try and get a stud, while keeping Anderson and having a solid OFer come up within the system. I think the question in everyones mind right now is if there was to be a trade for a big hitter and the other team wanted either Sweeney or Anderson which one would be best to part with?

QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ May 31, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) I would love to see Buehrle Vs Peavy match up when we play SD in a few weeks I wouldn't with our latest offensive woes, we couldn't rock a rocky Washburn what will we do with Peavy. :banghead

The Mariners have designated Wilson Valdez for assignment and recalled Mike Morse. http://seattle.mariners.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=sea

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 30, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) It was the rocket arm that made everyone fall in love with him. Also his demeaner, just the way he looked on the field it was hard to dislike the guy. Plus the way he came and left with the White Sox im sure had something to do with it. Homered vs Pettite in first AB and homered vs the scrubs in last, will always remember that.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:44 PM) Reed looks good but I still laugh when I remember how pissed people were when we traded Olivo. He can't hit and he can't call a game. He has a good arm but that's about it. I was one of them, I thought Olivo was gonna be great. Still miss him though even though he did suck. Good luck to him.

Last week when we played the Angels in that four game set I was out visiting some family and while I was there I went to a sox game, my first game away from the Cell. It felt really weird being in the minority group as a sox fan but I wasn't treated bad. It was overall a cool experience too bad we lost that one with Lackey vs. Count. The park is cool and I had some decent seats, I acutally got to meet Jon Garland and took a picture with him but sad to say the person who took the picture of us accidently washed and dryed the camera with his clothes . We had plently of times to score in that game but we didn't. I am hoping to go to the Cell during this Angel series at home, since I was gone I wasn't able to keep up with my sox like I usually do can anyone recap? One thing I do know is that the O hasn't been getting it done and our pitching is not only falling back to earth but also going under. Todays win was great but horrible, how bad has our team really been playing the past 7 or so games. Any one else who is willing to share their first game away from home is welcome I would like to hear everyone elses experiences.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ May 30, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) I'd take Koch over Shingo. At least he gets beat throwing fastballs rather than frisbees that hang forever and get crushed. :headshake -
AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

Iguchi has been an mvp candidate for this team no doubt about it. -
Chavez is a great 3B but he is not worth McCarthy, Bmac is an ace in the making you just don't trade him away for a 3B when you have a top propect playing that position. Sure he can switch positions but the issue is parting ways with Bmac which is a no no.

QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ May 24, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Put me down for Definitely wanting this deal to happen (though I know it never will). To get Eric Chavez would be amazing. I am a huge Joe Crede fan (unlike most of you), and I am excited by the thoughts of BMac in the rotation... but to add a guy like Chavez would be top notch. A Left Handed Heart of the Order Hitter who is the best defensive 3rd baseman in the AL. Bring On This Trade!!! I know its never gonna happen. I don't think so, Bmac will not become the A's 20 game winner in the future he needs to stay here.

Interesting Outside the Lines on right now

QUOTE(shagar69 @ May 23, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) i actually think that hes right. I mean think about it. A lot of the Cubs "fans" right now are just casual sports fans, who go to a few games, but dont get too much into the teams. Both the cubs and sox have their hardcore fans, who know everything about the team, go to a lot of games, and would never switch sides, but the reason the cubs are bigger is cuz of the general sports fan, we have none of those. If we won the WS i would guarantee that these casual fans and some other baseball fans would immediatley jump on the sox bandwagon. If you look closely some of them already have. I see a lot more Sox logos around town right about now. -
Lol, after a tough loss like this I can't look at soxtalk and watch everyone b**** because it gets me more upset so I don't come back until the next day but today I had to talk about it. Hopefully tomorrow Buehrle can keep his streak of atleast 6 innings pitched and also lower that ERA a little so he can get some good consideration for the AS game.

5/23/2005 Sox @ Halos Game Thread

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 23, 2005 -> 11:05 PM) Cuz Everett was a hot mofo early in the season and Iguchi was getting on base twice a game. Now he looks horrible at the plate. Timo can go swim with the sharks. He is awful. It looked like Timo was scared to get hit by a fly ball he caught with his signature one handed catch. One thing I am not sure about though is how did Garland get charged all of those runs if they were on errors? -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 23, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) On one random sidenote, I am no longer a supporter of Joe Crede. It has nothing to do with dropping that ball today (he's a good defensive player) but I'm sick and tired of his long ass swing. Problem is as of now the Sox have no other options, but you can bet your ass Crede is going to be dealt at the deadline and that the Sox will have a new 3rd baseman (which will definately help out this offense). I supported Crede for years, but today that support ends. He hasn't adjusted s*** to his swing and its long and ugly and good lord does he have slow hands. I know exactly what you mean, I am one of the last supporters in every player you guys hate and I too am getting tired of Crede. Another persons swing im gettin tired of fast is Uribe, its so ugly, he looks like Ken Harvey with his knees almost hitting the ground. I love his defense but damn he needs to do something about that swing. -
QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ May 23, 2005 -> 10:49 PM) Anyone remember the 2003 trip with 4 in Anaheim and 3 in Texas? They went 1-6. Why is it that this team cannot win out west? They absolutely need to split this series. The thing I don't understand is that half this f***in team is new and still the same old problems. Matchup against a rookie = shutout, west coast trips = f***ed.

So if Viz-meatball wouldn't had served up his normal meal and all the defense plays were played right then that means that we would be tied and this game wouldnt be over??
