I definitley see a lot more sox hats and gear being worn around but I don't care as long as they go to games. You guys do have to remember sometimes bandwagon jumpers become real fans. Right now there isn't much of a difference in attendance but once the season starts coming to a close it will be electric.

While I do hope he can be good for us I am starting to think...what about Baj? Do you think he will be replacing Viz or Shingo at anytime during this season? Or what if Jenks doesn't work out? Do you think he will be the replacement?
-
Schmidt is a really big risk. Not only has he been roughed up but he also lost a little of his fastball. For a guy whose lost some of his fastball, coming to the AL would not be complimentary. I've read a few articles that say he does get up to 94 but rarely.
-
The best thing about Jenks is that he can throw 99. We have a few guys who can top out at 95 in Count and Garcia and in the pen we have Pollitte, Marte and maybe Viz. No one is upper 90's, that could be HUGE. Imagine Buehrle out there throwin 89,90 and then Jenks 99,100 those hitters will be so off balance! Can't wait to see what he can do.

I am really excited to see what Jenks can add to this team. If he proves to be consistently good we are f***in set. -
I really don't care, he isn't with us anymore so... feel sorry for him he never did anything bad here but oh well.

No doubt about it I love Big Frank, seeing him in a Sox uni helping them win brings one of the biggest smiles to my face. -

Perfect example of why this team is so good this season, even though they didn't hit the struggling starter well they still got to that bad pen. We won because of the home run but I am sure if we needed pods to steal to score later we could have been capable of the same outcome. Good job Big Hurt on coming through. 30 games over .500 keep it going sox. VOTE PODS!!! -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 08:23 PM) I sure hope Freddy is ready to step up and save the bullpen tomorrow because I doubt McCarthy's going 6 innings tonight. Last time we said that he got a CG, even though I don't expect that again (it would be nice though) I do hope he gives us about 7 or 8 solid innings. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) As Milkman said earlier, seems like everyone is trying to hit homers now. If we lost this game (I know, a long way to go), it would be an extremely disappointing loss. I don't mind the homeruns as long as they know when is the right time and when it isn't. I don't like seeing guys swinging for the fences all the damn time they go up to bat. I do see your point though and it is a sad but true statement. -

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Cotts is having a monster season This isn't an idea I am suggesting but I wish he was versatile enough where he could spot start and do a decent job but even then we don't have a deep enough bp for that... -

Why can't any of our prospects give us some consistent solid efforts?? -

QUOTE(rafacosta @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) Aarow needs to cut down his Ks...14 BBs and 60 Ks. That's too bad... I didn't realize he was K'ing so much... thats A LOT of K's at this time of the year. -
QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:13 AM) ERA in the last three years against Boston is 3.20, 1.93 at Fenway. It's only about three or four starts, but there's nothing that supports him getting crushed. Mark's numbers are decent, Freddy's suck (although that's to be expected since he struggled 2 of the last 3 years). The point is that the three of them are pitching great this year, and none of them have shown any reasons to doubt them yet. I love it how Freddy stepped it up knowing we had a tired bullpen from the day before and goes out to throw a CG. Thats why this team is so great, everyone picks each other up. We have 3 starters that can compete with the best of them, lets just wait and see what happens but I am comfortable with what we have going against opponents.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) People just can't seem to jump over that hump that this team is for real, and not going away. I know it doesnt happen much Sox fans, but let your guard down a little bit, enjoy, and have faith in this team. A lot of sox fans are still not convinced this team is for real. After a two or three game losing streak a lot of people here are saying "back to earth we go." Thats why I usually don't like to come after a tough loss or after a little skid. You can't blame people though, I mean we have had our times the past couple season where we have been good but this good? Arguing about this isn't going to do much, the only thing that will is winning this division, which these sox are totally capable of.

Just because our bullpen has been great for a few weeks I still wouldn't mind pulling the trigger on a dominant reliever. I am happy, very happy things are still going great with what we have. You always have room for improvement though.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Thats what I love about this team. Every day somebody different steps up and gets the job done. You can't go wrong like that. Reminds of you of that one team thats won the division title 3 years in a row...the same one whose 10 games back now!!! No but really, the reason the Twins have been so good is because everyone steps it up when needed. Good job Sox keep it rolling. -
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) He is commenting on the All Star Game. He said LaRussa is going to load the team with Cardinals. Stoney had to correct him, and tell him the manager doesn't have much of a say as to the reserves this year. But here's the topper. He just called the Cardinals, a team that has lost 3 straight, and is 5-5 in its last 10, and is 5 games behind the White Sox, the hottest team in baseball. Oh, and he also said the toughest job in baseball is GM of the Mets. Go cry yourself to sleep, Steve. Atleast he didn't say Takatsu got on base a few times LOL.
-
Hey I know its still a lot of baseball to be played but if we keep this up this divison is a lock for us. I mean right now were hitting homers were stealing bases. Everything is clicking, we just need the pitchers to keep us in the game and we'll give them a chance to win. Also our defense has been great.

Prior is definately starting on Sunday...

QUOTE(Stocking @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) hear dusty say takatsu got on base a bunch today?!?! Hopefully next time everyone clobbers their pitchers so he can remember who f***ed him up. Another 10 run inning would probably sew everyones names into his head correctly. -
Which AL Pitcher Should Start The All-Star Game?
Whitewashed in '05 replied to AddisonStSox's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) American League leaders in major pitching categories: ERA: 1. Rogers - 2.46 2. Buehrle - 2.48 3. Halladay - 2.51 4. Colon - 2.99 5. C.Young - 3.16 WHIP: 1. Santana - 0.93 2. Halladay - 0.95 3. Buehrle - 1.03 4. Garland - 1.09 5. Colon - 1.16 OBA: 1. Santana - .241 2. Halladay - .259 3. Buehrle - .267 4. Garland - .285 5. Colon - .291 Wins: 1. Garland - 12 2. Halladay - 11 3. Buehrle - 9 3. Colon - 9 3. Rogers - 9 3. Bonderman - 9 IP: 1. Halladay - 122.0 2. Buehrle - 116.0 3. Santana - 107.0 4. R.Johnson - 103.0 5. Bonderman - 102.2 Ks: 1. Santana - 124 2. R.Johnson - 94 3. Halladay - 91 4. Bonderman - 82 5. Clement - 78 CG: 1. Halladay - 5 2. R.Johnson - 3 3. Buehrle - 2 3. Garland - 2 3. Colon - 2 SHO: 1. Garland - 2 1. Halladay - 2 1. Mussina - 2 4. Buehrle - 1 4. Rogers - 1 4. Santana - 1 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Halladay is easily the starter of the All-Star game as of right now, Buehrle is back to back with him in 6 categories. So it wouldn't be hard for Buehrle to pass Halladay. One bad outing by Halladay and a great outing by Buehrle and suddenly Buehrle passes him. Johan Santana is having a much better season than advertised, his WHIP, OBA and SO numbers are insane. The defense behind him has been s*** which translates to the high ERA and Win numbers. I don't know why people insist on Garland starting it, his numbers are not all that great. He has the most wins (by 1 over Halladay) and his WHIP and OBA numbers are decent (Halladay is far ahead of him in both). Rogers is the same case as Garland but instead of Wins he has ERA going for him. After his miserable start last night his ERA has skyrocketed from 1.98 all the way up to 2.46, which pretty much sqrews him here considering his high OBA and WHIP. Bartolo Colon is having an extremely underrated season. He started slow but has picked it up since. His ERA is under 3 now and his WHIP and OBA numbers are good (though both are a bit lower than Garland's). He now has 9 Wins and should be a candidate. Pecking Order: 1. Halladay 2. Buehrle 3. Garland 4. Colon 5. Rogers ----------------- 6. Santana Sounds pretty convincing to me, Halladay does deserve it with Buehrle being right behind him. -
I can't wait until he gets his stuff together. He's gonna be a good one.

Anyone catch David Bells throw to first on a ground ball down the foul line? One hell of a throw is all I have to say.

I guess El Caballo is happy being under .500

El Caballo, we were just talking about him the other day. I love Carlos, he was great here. Hope he keeps killing the pitching. Everyone loves him we love Pods good deal.
