  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 11, 2011 -> 02:45 PM) Whatever. You guys can get smart and defensive or whatever. You know what I meant. The expectations for the Heat were astronomical. The Bulls could've won 50 games and nobody would've said a thing. I wasn't that shocked by the Heat's start. You just don't throw a bunch of stars together and say play ball. Once they started to get a feel for one another, they started to look much better. I know what you mean, and I agree. But the the Bulls still have room to improve, too. A lot actually. Better 2-guard, full health and they will be better. I still think the Heat will beat the Bulls in the East Finals.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 11, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Heh. Yeah, by that same logic, this year's Bulls team would have won 70. Take away our 9-8 start and injuries to Noah/Boozer.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:23 AM) The Brandon Short, CJ Retherford or John Shelby, Jr., of 2011? And always be weary of high batting averages without great walk rates. Walk rates are sustainable, and usually high BAs are not.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 10, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) Juan and his .600 OPS and bad defense and bad base running is blocking him...how sad But he is a grinder!!
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2011 -> 12:07 PM) They are Co-Executives of the Year. Fair. Riley had the biggest coup of free agency's history while Gar had perhaps the best Plan B ever and improved the Bulls by 21 wins.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) We're going to ride Alex Ernst to the promised land. That gives me great hope
  7. QUOTE (Knackattack @ May 9, 2011 -> 11:00 PM) What are we gonna do about the rotation if Peavy is good? The real question: What are we gonna do about the rotation if Peavy stays healthy? Sadly, he will re-injury himself at some point soon and we won't have that worry.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 9, 2011 -> 08:59 PM) I think he needs to get to 550 and he'd be in. 500 is borderline for me. But, I think Paulie gets to 550 because I love me some damn Paul Konerko. If you think Paulie is gonna reach 550, you also love some other stuff (it's white and powdery). J/K

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2011 -> 09:02 PM) Lindsay still has a 0.00 ERA for Charlotte. Any reports on him? I know our relievers down there (3-4 of them) have been putting up pretty impressive numbers. Didn't we just pick him up this spring or in the off-season? Noticed another DeShields playing at Lexington in SAL League. Delino's son? Yeah, as a minor league free agent. He has walked 10 in his 7 innings at Charlotte though. That's not good enough. But that is his MO. Great stuff, poor command. Edit: Just realized he hasn't given up a hit yet in Charlotte, too.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 9, 2011 -> 08:32 PM) So what are the thoughts on 2B Ross Wilson? Former "2-A-Days" star is hitting .315 with a robust OBP around .410 or so. He has just about the same amount of Ks as BB, and OPS over .800, which is shocking considering his 0 HR, and only 7 Xtra base hits. Obviously he is not showing any power, but his AVG and especially OBP skills are looking awful good. Is this just a product of a college kid in Low-A, or could he be a decent prospect going forward? I think it's the former. That lack of extra-base hits is quite worrisome. Maybe he could be a decent bench player one day, but doesn't profile as a starter down the line.
  11. Doc just said, "If ya need a blow, I got timeouts." Yes, I laughed hysterically when he said that. Blame it on my immaturity.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 9, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) He's improving. Trust me. Next stop a ball to the outfield!

Jordan Danks has an .844 OPS?? Wow that is pretty good for what I thought it would be. Granted his home park is a terrific hitter's park, he is showing some rebound at least.
  14. I think people need to remember statistics are relative. It's nearly impossible to compare statistics across eras and say 500 HRs in 1960 was the same as 500 HRs in 2011. You have to compare Konerko's numbers to players of his era and when you do that, he just doesn't stack up. It's like saying Roy Halladay is nowhere near the pitcher Cy Young was because his career ERA is higher and he has far less wins. Roy Halladay has defined the 2000s in my opinion as a starting pitcher. But when you compare Roy Halladay to anyone now or the last 10 years, he is the best pitcher in the game.
  15. If Paul Konerko makes the Hall of Fame, the HOF should cease to exist. I love Paul, but he was never one of the top five first baseman in baseball at any one point. He has had a great career, been a terrific role model and won a World Series, but no way he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. 500 home runs is not a guarantee for the Hall of Fame anymore. In 10 years, countless others are going to join that list. Just like 300 wins used to be the automatic HOF wins total, now that is more like 250. I hope Paul gets his number retired in Chicago, statue somewhere in the park, face on the outfield and all, but no HOF.
  16. And Ramon Castro actually saw first base today -- something AJ has forgot. I would like to see him play a s*** load more.
  17. Typical Buehrle. Can never hold a lead.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 8, 2011 -> 03:58 PM) Nope, it's sad what happened to him. Yep. It was a catastrophic injury for a guy with his skill set. I still have hope for him but his confidence must be at an all-time low.
  19. QUOTE (greasywheels121 @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) Became a multi-marathoner this AM, as I ran the Wisconsin Marathon in Kenosha in 4:10:23. Congrats!!
  20. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 7, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) Pilot Refuses To Fly With Muslim Men On Board I hate racial profiling, but I gotta admit, when I am someone in public and see a Muslim dressed in their traditional garb, I get that uneasy feeling. And I am in no way a racist or anything. In fact, one of my good friends in Muslim.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) He's not getting demoted. In fact, if Peavy shows he's healthy, I think a pitcher is going to get traded pretty soon. Seeing as where we are in the standings, I am firmly on the trade Danks bandwagon for the first time. If you trade him by the deadline, you will get the most for him since it's not a rental. I am pretty confident he isn't re-signing here so might as well get a top prospect or two.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) Tonight was just an absoluteyl patetic display of managing by Ozzie. He's doing his best to force JR and KW to get rid of him. If Ozzie took a s***, lit it on fire and put it on JR's doorstep, I don't even think then he would be fired.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) So that would mean Humber would be back in the rotation after a start or two. It's just f***ing ridiculous that the best player on this team right now will lose his spot to some dude that has sucked with the White Sox since he joined and can't stay healthy.
  24. Two changes I would make. Viciedo for Pierre in LF. Lillibridge for Rios or Gordon. Both deserve it since Pierre, Gordo and Rios suck. Hell Ramon Castro should get a hell of a lot more ABs.
  25. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2011 -> 11:41 PM) So who's supposed to be good in the 2012 draft that isn't a Boras client and doesn't want above slot money? LOL.
