Wise Reinstated
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 03:57 PM) He's still behind Swisher, Dye, Griffey, and Owens on the depth chart. Throw Wise in and he's a sixth OF. I'd say behind the first three, but he is the #1 defensive replacement. IMO, he still has a very valuable role. Plus, Owens and Wise can't hit lefties and BA is a power hitter against them. And really Swisher/Griffey suck against lefties, too.

Angels vs White Sox - 7:11PM Start
Do the Angels still have (too lazy to look it up) Robb Quinlan. Cause if they do, he will be starting and is guaranteed for a big game, he always does well as Mark.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 03:43 PM) I assume this means we've seen the last of Brian Anderson. Why? The rosters have expanded.

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) This team can do two things: 1. Deflate, press too much and fall into the abyss 2. Use this as a rallying cry and crush these freaking teams. I just don't see us deflating. Let's fight this, White Sox. The question becomes who steps up and helps carry the load. My best guess is that either one of Paulie/Swish gets hot to help JD and Thome. But one of them has to catch absolute fire for the rest of the year even though Konerko had a great August.

Carlos Quentin has a broken wrist
At least it is not ligament damage, if there is a silver lining. He will be missed.

We're back!
It's sad that I barely survived without this site, but alas I did. I think I checked every 10-15 minutes just to see if it was back.

Twins bullpen = very bad. This game is not even close to over. Gotta get Morneau out though.

Fall of '08 television season thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) The new season of Prison Break is off to a great start. The end was good, but I thought the beginning and middle was convoluted and confusing. Ramblings aside, I will still watch religiously every week.

9/1 Games - Labor Day
This draft class continues to impress. With Morel showing legit pop, that is six guys who are showing to be legitimate ML prospects (Beckham, Danks, Morel, Upchurch, Hudson and Carter). Even Kuhn and Greeene have played well, but I would like to see them do their stuff at higher levels, because they do not have the physical tools of Hudson and Carter.

Best 2009 draft prospects
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) This Tigers Blog believes they have figured out the Elias Sports Bureau's formula for calculating Type A and B players. Toby Hall: 25.714, 33.334 points below the lowest Type B Ken Griffey JR: 68.816 TYPE B, 2.5 points below the lowest Type A Jim Thome: 66.000 TYPE B, 5.316 points below the lowest Type A Orlando Cabrera: 84.127 TYPE A, 13.379 points above the highest Type B Juan Uribe: 55.556, .938 points below the lowest Type B Joe Crede: 38.776, 17.718 points below the lowest Type B So assuming this thing is accurate Jim Thome is only a Type B, Juan Uribe is just below Type B and Joe Crede is going to net us nothing. Terrific Cabrera: 2 Thome: 1 Griffey: 1 This is a new system for for FAs right? The old was disposed of like two years ago? If that's the case, I liked the old one better because it seemed everyone was a type A free agent.

Call Ups
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 11:53 AM) Well in this case someone like Owens could be particularly useful even without getting ABs, so there is call up that could actually be impactful Agreed. Also by having Phillips as a third catcher, it allows you to pinch run for AJ and not worry about having no catchers after Toby. The September call-ups while usually they don't play too much, they often impact the game in subtle ways by giving teams more flexibility in the bullpen, on in the field in the baseballs, etc. If we are killing a team, we can use one of the scrubs sent up and not have to even think about DJ, Thornton, Dotel, bobby and such.

What were your favorite games to play as a kid?
21: a basketball game good for 4 people. Kick the can. Good ole fashion tackle football in the snow during winter. Nothing, IMO, beats that.

Official 2008-2009 College Football Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) Yeah, like when they allowed those 35+ points. Leaving 2 guys wide open for down-the-field passes really showed me. We'll just agree to disagree. I don't think Missouri's defense is that good nor do I think the Illinois offense is that good. They will probably lose 2 more games this year, which should get them to a solid bowl game (Capital One?). QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 31, 2008 -> 12:23 AM) giving up 42 points is not a sign of a good defense. Mizzou's defense will be the reason OU will win the Big 12 this season. Missouri held Texas Tech, one of the highest scoring offenses last year and of all-time to 10 points. They are a better defense this year than last year. By the end of the year, they will be in top notch shape. It's too hard to judge much from the first game because teams get so much better or worse as the season goes on. Missouri's D is very solid and anyone who watches college football would know that. Two first round type players on the D and other draft worthy.

White Sox @ Red Sox 8-29
Well luckily I am leaving in a few minutes and won't have to watch this. Hopefully, he gets it figured out and we score some runs, but it doesn't look to promising right now.

White Sox @ Red Sox 8-29
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 10:20 AM) Stat of the day: Javy is 2-5 with a 4.61 ERA lifetime against Boston. If he pitched six innings and gave up three runs, which would be about that career ERA against the Bo Sox, I would be very happy.
