Jermaine Dye
QUOTE(mu mu @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 10:08 AM) Yeah, I'd say sign him long term, the guy's worth it. And, regarding being humble, yea, and that's why I like Thome as well, Thome has no chip on his shoulder, seems like he'd be a great guy to have a few beers with. You don't sign a 33 year old with an injury past to a long term deal. We have Dye for one more after this and if continues to put up the numbers next year, you maybe offer a two-year extension. But, I would not sign him long-term because as a team you need bargain guys and he is too old to offer a long-term extension to.

Score one please, Freddy will give up another solo shot, so we could use a run here at least.

8/6 Games
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) Any ideas on what's been hurting Haeger so much lately? Getting tired out, or just struggling with control, or something else? probably just the fact that he is a knuckle ball pitcher. They tend to be fickle, up and down even if their stuff is relatively the same.

24 games in 24 days: The tracker
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Aug 7, 2006 -> 09:59 AM) That's 21 games in 21 days. I'd take 15-6. As long as no more than 2 of those losses came to Detroit. In my opinion though, this important stretch started 9 games ago and we're 6-3 so far. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...=52912&st=0 I don't really care about losses to Detroit, because I really don't think we can catch them. We have to take care of business against Min. My best guess: LAA-W NYY-L NYY-W NYY-W DET-W DET-L DET-W KC-L KC-W KC-W KC-W MIN-W MIN-L MIN-L DET-W DET-L DET-L DET-W MIN-W MIN-W MIN-W I would be happy with 14-7. I see some hiccups, but overall good play. Key series is the Royals, we have to sweep a spiffty team like that, but I can't see it happening.

ALCS Game 2 Rematch. I am going to the game as well, just like the ALCS Game 2. So far this year I am 0-2 at Sox games, hopefully that gets turned around.

Aaron Cunningham
He is damn good. Very solid power and speed guy. You can read more about him the top 25 prospect list comes out soon. One of the best in the system.

Who will be the best QB in the league this year?
IMO, Manning will be the best QB again this year. He may not win the big game, but he will be on of the top 5 QBs in NFL history along with Marino, Montana, Young and the open discussion QB.

Joe Crede Should Have Made the All Star Game.
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 12:40 PM) He has a chance, I'd put the current chances of winning at 30% for Joe and 70% for Mike Lowell. There's really no one else but it's going to take a nice streak of Web Gems from Crede to close the gap. Chavez has only 2 errors, don't forget about a past champion.

Departed Prospects
We drafted Gagne is the 31st round, I believe, but he didn't sign because he wanted to play professional hockey. Also, correct me if I am wrong, but aren't Simon and Eric Gagne brothers?

8/5 Games
QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) What is the velocity on phillips fastball, and what other pitches does he throw because i'v heard about him being like MB. Phillips is in the high 80's, low 90's, has good, but not great control and his fastball is pretty straight. Good change-up and slider. Great pickoff move and fields his position very well. Doesn't have the cutter like Mark nor the control, but he is very similar. IMO, he could pitch better than Vaz and Garcia right now.

New Idea for leadoff hitter next year
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 08:03 AM) Last year id agree w/ you but so far this season his leather hasnt impressed me all that much. He still makes some good plays now and than but just in general he has not looked that great in the field this season. When Juan is focused, I will take my chances with him. But with a lot of good shortstops, sometimes they lose focus and make errors on routine plays, something the great fielding shortstops don't do. It's great when Juan dives on the infield, gets up and throws a guy out, but then when he gets lazy and drops down and throws an error, its terrible. If Juan could focus 100%, he would be a GG, but that is his achilles heel.

Speaking of which I'm going to put your draft piece back up as the main piece tomorrow since it didn't get as much hay time due to the site being hacked this past weekend. oh, thanks. I can have done by Monday, no problem.

Submit your Questions for John Sickels
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 3, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) I found out my email was going through junk on certain filters so I gotta resend my emails to Hahn and Wilder and am still working on getting Shaffer's email. I'll resend, unless you feel more comfortable sending to Rick since you've dealt with him in the past? I'll let you because I have Rick on twice a year on my radio shows, so I don't want him to think I am using him too much, if that makes sense. I need to keep him happy since one day he will be a GM and I can still hopefully get him for shows. When u e-mail him, just say your from futuresox.com and I am sure he will be more than willing, real nice guy. Also, when do you want the prospect reviews done by?
