  1. Why do we always suck against the worst pitchers. Our offense will be the reason that we don't get past the first round in the playoffs, assuming we make the playoffs.
  2. Now Juan I love popping up is up.
  3. Wow, Joe Crede with a good at-bat.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) The thing that is upsetting is that this is what happens when you have a lineup of a lot of below average MLB hitters. I'm not sure how to do it, but we have to toughen up this lineup. Just way too many easy outs. And no, this isn't in response to tonight's game. I've been saying we have too many easy outs for a while now. Agreed, right now we are below average overall at ss, 3rd, rf. Average wise 1b, C, 2b.
  5. We keep getting cookies and doing absolutley 0 with them. If we can't hit Miller, we are gonna struggle against Timlin and Schilling in the 8th and 9th even though we scored against Schill Thursday.
  6. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 07:02 PM) This goes back to the opinion on his not aging well. He's 29, his power has increased, his average has really dipped and his strikeout rate is rising. He's doing things elite players do in their mid to late 30s. I hope the Sox find another way to spend $40-50 million other than giving it to him. Unfortunately, he is the best 1st baseman out on the market this year in Free Agency. I would rather use his money to add another top line starter and a reliever and let Gload and a cheap right handed first baseman from FA plantoon at 1st.
  7. We need some damn runs.
  8. I don't want to resign Konerko. He is too streaky and can't get the job done. Ross gload should have been in the line-up already.
  9. we look like s*** so far. No pitching and two guys caught on the base paths.
  10. Who calls that call? Scott was off the bag for a milli second. I have never seen that called; the only time I have seen that is when the runner's whole body comes off the bag. That call was s***.
  11. El-Duque has 5 quality starts in 12 starts. Not good.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) b****ing already, that didn't take long. El Duque hasn't look in a while. I can't ever trust him to shut out a team. He will pitch 6 inn and give up 4 runs or 5 inn and give up 3 runs. He is garbage. ERA is above 5 now.
  13. Paging A.J. Burnett, your plane is boarding for Chicago. El-Duque gives up to many runs, you can't trust him.
  14. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) DITTO! Ozzie must have a secret love affair w/ Timo It's not a secret.
  15. Duque starting out good, lots of movement and pumping the heat up into the high 80's.
  16. I don't think he will, but if he does I will be happy for him. He seems like one of the nicest and most genuine guys in the majors. And since the Sox are in first, the Cubs thing wouldn't bother me.
  17. At least the Twins won't get him. ESPN was reporting it was either the Twins or the Padres. Glad the Pads get him.
  18. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 11:15 AM) I still don't get all the drooling over AJ Burnett. Great stuff, but really poor performances. No track record at all of winning or even eating innings. He's a 6 inning pitcher. Aack. Let the O's have him. In the playoffs who do you want to see Contreras/Duque or Burnett. Obviiusly not Count and not Duque who is not the same El-Duque from with the Yanks in the playoffs.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 10:42 AM) Ken Rosenthal of the Sporting News said Florida is going to pull the taking of Lowell requirement and that the Marlins want Marte and BMac for Burnett. I would too, especially if we could get one of : Ron Villone, Mike Gonzalez, or John Grabow. I doubt he could get Wagner, which would be ideal. But Kenny will not trade Marte unless he has a deal for another lefty. My guess is that Kenny has a lot of confidence in Jenks and can take a little downgrade in the pen for a huge upgrade in the rotation.
  20. http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/bal-sp....ports-headlines If we can trade for him and try to sign him, I find the money pretty reasonable, but he Burnett wants a 4-year deal. Maybe a 3-year deal worth $ 25 million, plus a 4th year option at $9 million based on innings pitched. Dunno, just something to think about. I am getting confident that we will get Burnett.
  21. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Of course if Grossman goes down again the Bears have NO chance of making the playoffs. But you forgot we have Chad Hutchinson and Orton.
  22. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Imagine if the Angels had this guy, plus K-Rod. Too Bad. Plus, Turnbow and they already have Shields and Donnely who are nasty.
  23. Jenks has some of the best stuff, ever. No joke, he is up there. 2 pitches close to 80 on the scouting scales.
  24. Bobby with the hammer, 2k's
  25. Hawk wants the hammer
