  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 11:25 PM) CSNChi_Beatnik Bruney may not be DFAd after all; whispers in the clubhouse are that Pena's last appearance for Charlotte was cut short, with pain. Bruney isn't great, but I think he is better than Pena. Maybe Infante should get a turn? I would say Shane Lindsay, but if you walk nearly one guy per inning at AAA, the Majors will kill you.
  2. Let's get it done. Hernandez is old. Phillip is young.
  3. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:00 PM) I saw this one projected lineup on a 'Hawks board by what everyone knows him as the cap geek on that site, and it looked like this: Bickell Toews Kane Sharp Richards Hossa Frolik Bolland Ward Smith Madden Kruger That would be ridiculously scary, but probably a pipe-dream. The bottom line is, like I said earlier, if they can sign Richards for 3-4 years (just in time for when Toews and Kane need new extensions), it would be a great pick-up. My initial reactions are I like Smith much better than Bickell on the Kane/Toews line. Bickell is too slow for Kane/Toews and doesn't use his body enough in front of the net. I also don't think that team has enough strength. Ward was pretty good defensively for Nashville (so I read) last year, so I don't mind him. I can do without Madden again. As good as Richards is, I don't think the Hawks will commit five/six years at $6 million for him.
  4. Lewin can STFU. If he was doing a Yankees game, he wouldn't make that comment about the Bronx cheer.
  5. If I am Dunn, I just don't swing at all in my at-bats. If he swings, he Ks. If he doesn't swing, at least he could walk.
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) Just another guy who plays 2nd base to me nothing special. Remember when his outs where line drives? Man, he was so good then. Now...
  7. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) What's everyone's feeling on Beckham? I don't see a Major League caliber hitter. I would bench him if I felt we had a replacement, but we really don't. I guess Teahen can play there, Omar looks old as nails. Kuhn is not ready. You're right, he isn't close to hitting well, but at least he plays D well. It's kinda a tallest midget-type thing.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) Some team won on a walk off balk a couple of nights ago. DJ Carrasco was the balker.
  9. We need to capitalize here. Five outs we were given this inning.
  10. I am glad Dunn took yesterday's progress into today's game.
  11. If Juan Pierre is starting, it's probably 1-0 Nationals now. Instead, Lilli makes it 1-0 Sox. I love the elf.
  12. Must be serious, too. Danks is a warrior.
  13. This is the type of injury that f***s you for a week, especially after yesterday.
  14. Merkin raving about Viciedo on White Sox Weekly, saying everything he has heard about him is great. Peavy even mentioned to Merk how great Viciedo looked. Also implied Sox (mainly the front office) are getting tired of Juan and might look to cut ties in the near future. Nothing imminent, however, and I am reading between many lines.
  15. The Hawks also desperately need two enforcer-types who also are decently skilled. None of this John Scott s***. He was so bad he barely could even get minutes. Really wouldn't mind Ben Eager back, too. Was great for the Hawks as a fourth-line winger who was talented enough to play on the third. But was never afraid to drop the gloves. We really needed a physical presence last year and had nothing except Scott who sucked. Plus, nobody even wanted to fight him because they were scared.
  16. Ozzie walked 239 times in his ENTIRE career, good for a .287 career OBP. Is it possible because Ozzie couldn't ever take a walk in the majors yet played 16 seasons, he severely underrates OBP as a statistic? Or maybe just doesn't care about it at all?
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) Jackson probably made himself a lot of money last night. You have to think Washington is a favorite to sign him especially since they get along well with boras BTW, here is a more complete answer to your walk question. http://www.baseball-reference.com/play-ind...are.cgi?id=ZR4b
  18. Let's get it done. Gorzelanny is a chump. Johnny is headstrong.
  19. Fathom, here ya go: http://www.baseball-reference.com/play-ind...are.cgi?id=ZR4b
  20. Brent Morel's walk rate is 0.6%. Too tired to track that historically, but gotta imagine he the worst in the last 10 years.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:06 AM) Any of the stat guys still up? What's the fewest walks in a year for someone with say, 300 at bats? It should come as no surprise that the fewest walks for someone with 150 games is Ozzie Guillen with 10. Not exactly what you asked for, but hilarious nonetheless. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_wk1.shtml
  22. Our top two hitters have a combined OPS of 1.157. Jose Bautista's is 1.140.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:00 AM) Yep, lost in the drama of this game is the continued struggles of Pierre. I truly feel like his pink slip day is coming soon, and I would point to maybe after next weekend after the Cubs series?? As for the game, someone elsewhere said to not let losses bother you until this team is .500. Pretty good philosophy But when the division winner is gonna win like 85 games, it's so hard to. If the Indians were still playing .600 ball, I would have turned off this game hours ago. Alas, we are still right there in this horrible division.
  24. BTW, Juan Pierre's OPS is now under .600.
  25. This game has made me sick to my stomach.
