  1. From Sports Illustrated on Mirotic I think more needs to be explained about his buyout because $2 million is not really that much. There must be some really sticky language in his contract. Granted, he isn't ready physically to be in the NBA yet, but I would really like to know more about the buyout. Hopefully once Gar can talk about Mirotic (when the trade is finalized), we will know some more specifics of his contract.
  2. Funny that Jackson pitches against the Diamondbacks last week and then the next start the team who apparently wanted him (then didn't), which was the reason KW traded for him.
  3. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) Love the new sig maggs. It pained me to remove NPH and his crazy-hot scale, but it had to be done.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 10:05 AM) Priceless.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:33 AM) Here is something impressive in odd statistical way... Tyler Kuhn manages to have a .933 OPS, and slug .504, while hitting only one home run. That .429 OBP is pretty sick. Doubles machine.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 01:19 AM) He's 6'10" 225 and a forward. He was a 6th man off of the bench for Real Madrid Basketball. 7.9 PPG 3.8 RPG 0.5 APG 0.7 SPG 0.3 BPG .524 FG% .889 FT% .421 3PT% But he was 20. And Real Madrid is considered the best basketball team in the world outside the United States (and I guess Canada, although that could be debated). Look at those percentages though, he has a great shot and is only really coming into his own. This year, I am sure he will be moved into the starting line-up and become the star you want him to be. My overall point is the Bulls won 62 games last year despite injuries and they weren't going get their championship-caliber 2-guard in the draft, so they had to take the best player available. And he is that exactly. Once he comes over here, he will much more physically mature and probably ready to make a 20-minute impact in the NBA right away.

    It's nice to see Santos has got his mojo back. With him locking down the 9th, Thornton and Crain splitting 7th/8th duties, our pen is starting to look like it was originally conceived to be. We still need that long man, but if that's the thing we are lacking, I guess that's pretty good. And just release Pena, Bruney is better.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) J4L, May not agree with what you say, but I do agree that you should be able to have your opinion (regardless of what I may think of it). That being said I can understand why people are frustrated with how the posting has been going, but that is the ebb and flow of message boards, especially sports. May not live for the board, but the loss of any poster is a loss. Very well said.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) I didn't want Brooks. I wanted Hamilton or Johnson (yes, I know neither is a SG) but I believe you always go with BPA. Which they did in Mirotic.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) F- for the Bulls. They passed up on better prospects that could help them THIS year for a project. A rookie SG was not going to make a difference, especially one taken at 23 (or 28, whatever) in a weak draft. Brooks is nothing more than a rotational player.
  11. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) They NEVER said rehab, it was just a conclusion I made, based on the inferences, tone of voice, and Kane's history. And based on what I heard, too, I found your conclusion to be sound. You never came off as saying it was fact, it was just your opinion.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 12:45 PM) It's all bulls***. It was Dan Bernstein who started the rumors about him being noticeably absent this off-season. The rehab thing was just speculation from here.
  13. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) See, that's the problem. I don't think this team ever plays up to its potential anymore and that's something I hang directly on management. I know you disagree, but I feel that they underachieve almost every single year. That's why I think they need to bring new people in on the management front. That's one of my biggest pet peeves when people defend OZ/KW. Well the players just underachieved. Underachieved for nearly every year in the 2000s?!?!? At some point, the underachieving has to be placed on the management of the team. Heck, I don't think it's underachieving, I think it's poorly built ballclubs with no minor league system to help supplant those struggling players.
  14. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:43 AM) LOL. Ever since I saw Mr. Baseball, I've wanted to spend some time in Japan and specifically their baseball world. Best part of that movie was Frank's 20-second cameo. Haha.
  15. Big things happening for Josh Fields. From Rotoworld.
  16. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) I mean, they did get embarrassed in 2008 as a regular season team that hardly deserved to make the postseason. I wouldn't say we embarrassed that year though. We won one and game one was close (in fact, we led early). It's not as bad as 2000 was when we had 95 wins. My philosophy is get to the playoffs and just see.
  17. QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) You'd have to think there's no way the Bulls draft three players who will all be on the roster this upcoming season so an international pick is extremely likely if we keep all three picks. I'd say most likely at 43 but you never know. According to all the draft gurus, the international talent drops precipitously after this Mirotic. So that's why I would grab him at 28. In the second round, there really may not be any legitimate international players left. But your right, no way we draft three and have three dress this year.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 08:00 AM) I wonder if there is any chance the Bulls can package somehow and move up? There hasn't been any buzz from them. I think they have tried to move up, but no one is biting (yet). My realistic draft: 28 = Nikola Mirotic, combo forward from Montenegro 30 = JaJuan Johnson, Purdue 43 = Malcolm Lee, combo guard from UCLA Since we don't need our players to get a lot of minutes right away, I would really like to see them take a international player and stash him away for awhile. This Mirotic guy has All-Star talent, just is young and you won't see an ROI on him for three years ish. Johnson seems like Taj 2.0. Real smart, plays defense, shoots well, works hard, just a little thin. And Lee would be a nice reserve guard who can play defense and handle the point if you want Rose to play off the ball. I would love Brooks, but no way he is there anymore.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 07:58 AM) I wouldn't be upset if Kane went. You'd hate to see a kid screw up a life like his has potentially in front of him. Best of luck to him. He has HOF talent if he can keep his head on straight. Probably a real good thing. Hate to see someone end up like Daryl Strawberry with addiction issues.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:53 AM) It clearly doesn't exist for the Sox, despite AJ and Ozzie being in the dugout together for 6 years. I would expect the Sox and Oswaldo to be last in line to add one of those.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2011 -> 09:48 AM) Should a catcher and a manager have a signal worked out between them for "Come and take this pitcher out" that no one else, even the pitcher, recognizes? That's not the worst idea I've ever heard. I thought of that, too. It may exist and be subtle eye contact things.
  22. Coincidence or not, AJ's career win-loss record for teams he is on has to be ridiculously high. He is a jackass many times, but he also is a uber-competitor who wants to win. I happen to like his jackass attitude many times, but it does have the potential to rub many (including his teammates) the wrong way. EDIT: I calculated his teams' win-loss records for every year he was a starter: 875-746, .540 winning percentage. Only been on a losing team twice (2007/2009 White Sox). Year Wins Losses 2010 86 76 2009 79 83 2008 89 74 2007 72 90 2006 90 72 2005 99 63 2004 91 71 2003 90 72 2002 94 68 2001 85 77
  23. According to Cowley, Peavy said that he and AJ were arguing over who was the better hunter.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:31 PM) AJ is an ass. There really isn't any argument there. But he's our ass. There is really no middle ground with him even with his current teammates. You either like his bulldog, in-your-face attitude or you hate it. I can see where he and Peavy (being very similar in that bulldog mentality) would clash.
  25. QUOTE (ROC Sox Fan @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) What's a Kustok? That's a Kustok.
