Apparently Hawks are getting Rostislav Olesz and Steven Reinprecht. Rostislav Olesz: $3,125,000 for three more years Steven Reinprecht: $2,050,000 for one more year Campbell: $7,142,875 for five more years **All from Capgeek. Saved: $1,967,875 at least, could put Reinprecht in the minors as he seems over the hill. Stan Bowman FTW

He definitely got part of Paulie's leg. Very subtle. Paulie deserves an Oscar for that.

That is crap Alexei, not just the K, but run to first base.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:32 PM) Morse hits 40 points better against right handed pitchers. Has 6 home runs against righties with an OPS 75 points higher. This is when you need a manager who can read a god damn stat sheet. Preaching to the choir. I am conviced Ozzie have never looked at splits or spray charts in his entire life.

Well we can always hope for a drop-third strike

I think we will get some runners on, but somehow in the 9th, I fear Juan Pierre batting with the game on the line.

It figures the next batter strikes out easily.

Edwin pitches his ass off and he gets a no-decision. And the Sox will likely lose. That's just not right.

6.24 Games
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) Yeah I can see that about Smith. Just because he's a catcher and most of the high picks are relievers, he certainly has a bigger positional upside. I like Gardeck, but again, reliever. If Walker and Johnson bust, Smith has a good shot to be next best. Kanny is playing a doubleheader and won game 1 5-1. Miguel Gonzalez quietly having a solid season since coming from extending spring training. And that is partially my reasoning. If he hits even close to his potential as a catcher, that would be tremendous. And I think the likelihood of busting from Walker is pretty high (although I like the pick and upside). Johnson doens't seem to have the control to be more than a mid-rotation guy, imo. And then like you said, the other top picks are projected relievers. I really think his batting upside is .270-.280, 25 HR and 90-100 RBI with solid everyday catching. If you are catcher and playing his solid defense while batting like that, you are a perennial All-Star. Like I said, I am sure I will be wrong, I am sure I am overrating the hell out of him and once he gets to Single-A, he will be probably suck. But I love love love this pick.

Brouwer is pretty replaceable as a power forward by Beach, so that was a great value trade by the Hawks.

6.24 Games
Two thoughts: 1) Shane Lindsay is ridiculous. Now 7 hits in 32.1 inning, good for a .070 BAA. I am not sure what the record would be for that, but that is simply insane. Despite 27 BBs, his WHIP barely is above 1.00. He has to be having the craziest pitching season in the minors. Nook Laloosh?? 2) This has probably a 95% chance to be wrong, but I think Kevan Smith will be the best player for the 2011 draft. Yes, he is killing Rookie-Ball as a 23-year-old in a super small sample size, but I love his skill set, make-up and potential. AJ wasn't a full-time Major League starter til 25, so while he is old, it has happened before (Lou Brown voice).

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) He's not good defensively. Do you watch games, or just look at stats? I do watch games, but you can look at stats, too. You simple can't be bad defensively and put up a +28. He is much better defensively than his reputation said when the Hawks signed him. Is he a top-10 defensive defensemen in the NHL? No. But he didn't hurt us this year in the least.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) I guess I'm the bad kind of fan when it comes to tickets. I will go through stubhub and buy already purchased tickets from a season ticket holder as opposed to newer tickets from whitesox.com because they actually offer discounts on stubhub. In essence, I'm not helping their "tickets sold" policy for attendence. When tickets are as astronomically high as they are, you gotta go for the bargains.

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:22 PM) Seriously sucks. Monday through Saturday are going to suck sports wise this winter. I am fairly confident the NFL will be back before games are missed, but could you imagine if there were two simultaneous lockouts?

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 05:51 PM) Um, what the f***? Um, yes. People bashed him when he came here for his defense. But he was very solid this year and last year. You don't have a +28 being bad defensively. He was better than Seabrook this year, and many times was playing better than Keith.- 2011-2012 NHL Thread
Just heard on The Score that there are rumors B. Campbell has been traded to Columbus. I am skeptical of anyone picking up that contract, but could be interesting... All over Twitter, too. That would be a huge move. I really love Campbell but he just isn't worth his near-max deal. If he was playing at half his salary, he would be perfect for this team. Very underrated defensively.- 2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:48 AM) By rule, the Bulls can only contribute 500k to solve his buyout situation. Mirotic (or his agent I guess) would have to cover the other $1.5 mil. That wouldn't have really been an issue if he'd gone in the top-5, but at the 23 slot that's more than he'd make in his first year in the NBA. Got it. Thanks for the info. This buyout stuff makes much more sense now.- 2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:11 AM) exactly. I still can't believe the circus comments from last night happened. Yeah, and because we are only taking on one guaranteed contract, we will presumably have a little more cash for a free agent or two.- WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
