6/28 Games
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 07:38 PM) Kevan Smith is 2/2. C. Kuhn is 1/1 with 2 RBI. Already 9 RBI on the very young season. You should stop following Smith. I have already put my jinx on him, anointing him the class of the 2011 draft.

2011 Minor League Catch-All Thread
David Holmberg has thrown 34 straight scoreless innings. 8-3, 2.39 ERA, 81/13 K-to-BB ratio in 83 innings. Sigh. Great toss-in KW.

Saw this on Twitter: So if you have any young kids who want to learn to suck at bunting, get caught stealing and throwing 20 times during a run down, send 'em to OG's camp.

Guys that are becoming legit prospects
Kuhn's main value will come because he can play almost anywhere in the field, has pretty solid speed and good contact skills. That is a quintessential bench player. And as we saw in 2005, bench players are integral to winning teams.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) This is maddening. KW needs to put his big boy pants on and release Pierre. If he can't do that, resign. When I read that quickly I was like WTF? Re-sign Pierre?!? Then I realized what you meant.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
Don't get me wrong about my Bulls are still terrific sentiment, I still want a better 2-guard. But this very same roster would compete next year admirably. We obviously have a better chance at the NBA Championship with JR (Richardson or Smith for that matter) as a our starting 2-guard than Bogans. But some people are acting like this Bulls team won 41 games again, barely made any noise in the playoffs and are in dire need of a complete makeover.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) MLB can't assure anyone of anything right now. It is in bankruptcy court, not Bud Selig's office. The fact that the Dodgers owe Manny is hilarious backward. If anything, I think it should be Manny owing the Dodgers money. In fact, Manny should be forced to settle all of the Dodgers debts with how much money they gave that goofball and how little an ROI was made.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:12 AM) Who the f*** is running the show?!? They are quarreling way too f***ing much. At the very least, one of them has to go. It is not healthy to have both boobs on the team, creating tension within the organization everyday because how much they hate each other. And I have no doubt about that. These two men do not like each other anymore.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:56 AM) I really wouldn't mind Richardson either, again though not a top choice. I personally don't think the Bulls were as far away as other people seem to think. If we had a 2 who could create and knock down 3s we could have easily won the Heat series. And that's with DRose playing pretty atrociously. Those people would be idiots. Bulls won 62 games and made the Conference Finals. Lost in five, but only one game was a blowout, and that was the Bulls doing the blowout. Boozer/Noah struggled, but hopefully that was injury-related. They got nothing from Korver who usually is a great shooter. This team is damn close. If they kept the roster the same, they would be damn good and still be a top three teams in the NBA.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:03 AM) More KW quotes: "(Viciedo) is playing his (butt) off offensively and defensively. But I'm not going to put a player on this team that my manager is not ready for. I respect him too much to do that. I don't even know what that means. My manager is not ready for? That is so nebulous. Just keep throwing Ozzie under the bus KW.

Guys that are becoming legit prospects
QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) I don't understand why people want to doubt Tyler Kuhn. It's not that we want to doubt Kuhn, it's that we have to doubt Kuhn. I think everyone here would love to see Kuhn succeed because he is the little engine that could. But unfortunately, his numbers right now most likely belie his actual talents. The two prior years, he was pretty mediocre in the minor leagues. And he is a guy whose value is completely tied into his batting average, which is streaky. He doesn't walk a great rate. Doesn't have a lot of pop. Doesn't steal bases at a great rate. Doesn't have a true position. I mean there is a lot to doubt about his game. I don't know what his BABIP is this year, but that number is gonna be ridiculously (and unsustainably) high. But that's not to say he is untalented because he was productive hitter in college, and has repeated that in the minor leagues somewhat. I just think we are looking at the infield version of Brent Lillibridge. And that has terrific value, but it's hard for me to see Kuhn as an everyday, starting Major League baseball player.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 11:33 PM) Honestly, nobody really has a clue. This lockout could last an entire season for all we know. Almost everybody agrees it will go into next season. So by the time they do make a deal, whenever that is, how the deal will look is something nobody really knows. It'll likely be a lot more owner friendly than this one though, that much is pretty likely. The smart guess is on the high end, a mid-level exception to get a Richardson type. The low end, really nothing more than a couple million. Right now, the Bulls are at $60,726,162. Bogans, I am convinced will be gone, so that would free up nearly $2 million. Then you got Jimmy butler's salary. So with 10 roster spots, you are close to that same original number. Then you gotta add 3-4 more players. And worry about D-Rose re-signing if there is a hard cap. But whatever we have, it won't be much and it will take a already proven NBA player to come here for less money. And there may not be a MLE, too. Overall, just very hard to predict.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:58 PM) Well after reading this, it's obvious the Sox are doing the stall thing with Viciedo because of service time. Of course that has to be the reason. Hope it doesn't cost us the division. Cause this lineup remains kind of inept. FIXED.

6/27 Games
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:55 PM) Carlos Sanchez an 18yo SS from the DSL has been promoted to Kannapolis from Bristol. An interesting prospect to watch at least. Looks like KW is trying to up his trade value already. KW: Hey, Jed, we have this 18-year-old who is already in Single-A. We'll give you him for Heath Bell....

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 08:51 PM) Do you think JP is DFA, or something else happens? Im really unsure about it, for some reason I think JP stays on the team, and I hate thinking that. Yeah he really is the only option. Dunn could go to the DL I suppose for a couple weeks with some phantom injury. But Teahen is here to stay. Omar is. Bacon to AAA? It really boils down to JP has to be released for Dayan to get the call.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 08:48 PM) So Viciedo's at 83 days of service and there's about 93 days left in the regular season so if they called him up today he'd finish the year with something like 176 days of service which is 1.004. If they want to wait the 5 days or so to grab an extra year of control I'm cool with it. They've somehow managed to hold off calling him up despite 2 weeks of strong pressure from the media, fan base and I'm sure their consciences so what the hell? What's another week? I guess we can only hope that this is their plan, that Twins series before the break is probably going to be pretty f***ing ugly with our current lineup, adding a potential impact bat could change that. Though I'd say the 15th is far more likely than the 4th. How many days is one full year of service time? EDIT: 172 for arbitration purposes, but a full season is 182 days in calendar counting.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
I would love a reporter to summon up the balls and ask KW if the reason Viciedo is still in AAA is because of his service time thing. Granted KW couldn't come out and say that, but I would love to see his eyes swell up in fury over the question.

Official SoxTalk Favorite Chicago Radio Shows
Because all of you jackasses loved B&B, I decided to listen to them over CJH, and wow. I like them so much better, haha. I don't care for Boers because the way he speaks irritates me and I think he is a moron a lot of times, but despite Bernstein's jackassness, I love him. Thanks for converting me.

2011-2012 NHL Thread
My ideal roster for 2011-2012: Kane-Toews-Smith Gagne-Sharp-Hossa Bickell-Bolland-Frolik Olesz-Kruger-Eager Keith-Seabrook Hammer-Pitkanen Leddy-Sopel Crawford Salak Addded: Simon Gagne (will shift Sharp to center) Ben Eager Joni Pitkanen Brent Sopel With $14 million in cap, you get a high-priced free agent in Pitkanen ($5 million ish), a decently priced veteran in Gagne ($3-4 million; coming off down year and has made plenty already) and two cheap depth guys in Eager/Sopel ($4 million combined).

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
I want Jason Richardson. JR Smith is supremely talented, but is always in the news for the wrong reasons. I would rather have JR than Bogans granted, but Richardson is perfect for this Bulls team. Veteran who can hit 3s. He is also 6'6" which would be nice to have. Can handle the basketball decently. I'll be honest I have never really paid attention to his defense, but he seems like a guy who is average right now, but has never been asked to play defense besides his 55 games in Orlando this year.

Sox "trying to get a return on investment"
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 07:34 AM) Brent Morel is still doing exactly what he should be doing. I have been a big Morel supporter in his minor league days and coming into the season, but Brent should be hitting for better than a .577 OPS. Nine extra-base hits and one walk. That is terrible. Now his defense has been stellar, and going into the year, we knew there would be some growing pains with Brent. But he is atrociously bad offensively. Brent seems to be a good worker, so I hope he can rebound, but he should be doing better.
