Sox scouting Brandon Beachy
Haven't read most of the thread, but... We have a horrible offense and very good starting pitching, so we trade our second best hitter away for a starting pitcher?

Comparing this season's 53 game streak
If I have learned one thing about White Sox teams, it's that they are completely fickle. Who would have thunk last year they would go on that crazy hot streak? Who would have thought in 2006, we would sink faster than the Titanic post All-Star break? With our pitching rounding into form, I think we are safe from another 10-20 stretch. But it will be up to our offense to see if we can find a nice hot streak. We get consistent starting pitching almost every year (we have been top 10 in quality starts for almost every year the last 10). To me the last 70 games are so will be about the White Sox's offense.

Sox/Royals 7/4 - Sox gain independence from being under .500
JP to pinch hit, ugh. Even though he has played well, I don't like him in this situation. End it Mark.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) What's Kevan Smith's top quality? Real solid in every facet of the game except speed though relative to catchers, he is probably average. Top quality I would say is no glaring weakness.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) someone please tell me how long we're going to have to wait until lineup/roster changes are made? are they seriously going to wait until the off season? Well there will really only be offensive change for next year and that's Viciedo for Pierre. You'll see the same s*** next year, too, don't worry.

Sox/Royals 7/4 - Sox gain independence from being under .500
We've had this s***ty offensive approach for five years now (second-half 2006 through first-half 2011), and while the players have certainly come and gone, the one constant has been Greg f***ing Walker. Give him his damn walking papers already.

The GREAT Daniel Hudson
QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) at Milly-Walk-A: 4 innings, 8 hits, 6 runs, 5 er, 1 bb, 3 k, 2 homers including a grand slam by Shawn Marcum. Off the hook for the loss, and his ERA went up to 3.75. KW says f*** you to all Sox fans after this start!

That was hilarious. And quite sad.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) Morel, Rios and Dunn all between 575-601 OPS. JESUS of Nazareth, that's not good. Do any other contending teams have 3 guys below 600, in the AL? Can we just stick in DeAza in CF? I'm guessing the answer to that is no, he sucks in CF. Not a great arm for De Aza, but terrific range. He is at worst a solid CF.

QUOTE (aprec32 @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 06:41 PM) Why should we be voting for Ethier? Because if we help them get another All-Star, they will try their darndest to pay us the money for JP.

I honestly don't know why the Sox haven't broached the idea with Dunn to just take two weeks off on the DL. Maybe they have, I don't know for sure, I guess. But baseball is just like anything else. Sometimes the best medicine is time away. Give him two weeks to go back home with his family, relax and get his mind back together. Since nothing else has worked, why not give this a try?

Cowley vs SoxTalk
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 4, 2011 -> 08:59 AM) I'm not at all opposed to that....just make up a back strain for him and bring Viciedo up....but you can't just bench him indefinitely like people are calling for...you don't sign a guy to this kind of contract and then just write him off as a bust 1/8th of the way into it. He really needs just two weeks to go out in the country, away from anything baseball related, fish, hunt and just clear his mind. Come back after the All-Star break for a brand new season, so to speak.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 03:15 PM) Going by signings and the words of Hawks beat writers and Bowman's words, signing Frolik AND Campoli is going to be very difficult. Give me Frolik and I'll be happy. Montador and O'Donnell solidified the D.

White Sox vs Cubs First Pitch 1:20 CT
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 03:19 PM) He is being paid by the Sox. The Sox pay him to give his opinions which (in their minds) are on the side of the players. Who's time is HE wasting? Usually, the fans are the ones wasting his time and their own time by calling with stupid ideas. Actually I believe he is paid by the Score.

Why do you PR Lillibridge? Let him bat versus Marshall and pinch run Omar.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 02:30 PM) Ozzie: "where would Viciedo play?" Oh I dunno Ozzie. 90% of your offense is hitting under .240. It shouldn't be too difficult to find a spot for him. He is the third-best hitter in this organization at worst. And is stuck in AAA because of a game of chicken between our GM and manager.
