  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:41 PM) Kills me that he broke his thumb. He was on his way to making the team. He wasn't gonna make it. This organization has ulterior motives. We have Juan Pierre anyway!!! Why the hell would be want this Viciedo character?
  2. Nice job by Alexei on that play. Granted with Dunn up, it won't matter, but it's the thought that counts.
  3. I would love to see new starters permanently at 3B, 2B, LF, CF and DH. That is sad. We have horrible players at every one of those positions. No organizational depth whatsoever to help replace these guys. Viciedo is the lone guy and go in LF (but really switch CQ to RF) or DH. We can easily send down our 2B and 3B, but they are the tallest midgets in this abysmal organization.
  4. WTF is going on here?!?! The Yankees aren't trading their .941-OPS hitting starting centerfielder who also happens to be one the 10 best players in MLB this year for a prospect. Granted Viciedo is really good, but Granderson is an established MLB All-Star who plays terrific defense and is hitting amazingly this year.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 01:26 PM) Brenly would be at the top of my list to interview. ^^^^^ I would love Brenly. One of the smartest baseball men in the game.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) After seeing the preview for that movie, I'd plow Jennifer Aniston til sunrise. I'll be honest, she didn't look super hot to me. Granted I have never been a big fan of Anniston, but she looked eons better in Just Go With It.
  7. Jeter hits his 3,000th hit, and it was a HR -- pretty neat. He is kind of an overrated player, but he is a good person off-the-field and always seemed to come through in the clutch.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 11:17 AM) FWIW, Peter Gammons was on a Boston radio show this morning and said he expects Ozzie to be fired during the ASB. He said he may be managing the Marlins in a week and also mentioned KW knows his ass is on the line as well. Please be true. But I still will point to KW being the biggest culprit in the organization. But Ozzie also needs to go. We have two Pamela Anderson-sized boobs running our organization, and it's time for both to get the heave-ho.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 08:01 AM) Yes, Horrible Bosses is the comedy of the year. It did not disappoint. Definitely agree. I thought it was funnier than the Hangover. It was hysterical. Sometimes a little raunchy, but I was laughing almost the entire movie. Does Charlie Day ever not play the same role? He was pretty much the same character from It's Always Sunny.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) It's pretty insane how far Dayan's plate discipline has come in just one year. The kid is not only loaded with talent but apparently very willing to make adjustments, great combination. He also seems like a real good kid. I think the future is quite bright. I am actually incredibly confident that he will be a .300/30/100 guy at the very least in his prime. I based this on the fact that he appears to be a very hard worker and already is a stud. I also am enjoying his July month more so than any previous other month. Sure the batting average has dipped (but as we know, batting average tends to be very dynamic). I am thoroughly impressed with his 7/6 BB-to-K ratio.
  11. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 01:51 AM) Maybe I'm being cynical, but the video I saw of Hamilton, all he talked about was himself and his support system in his time of need. It seemed like he thought this was all about him. I'll be honest, I thought Hamilton was completely apathetic. Granted that is his personality and I am sure he was incredibly saddened and distraught over everything.
  12. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 04:14 PM) Somebody might move up from B'ham to Charlotte to fill Harrell's spot. DOYLE!!!!! Let's hope. Though he was just moved up to AA not to long ago, so I don't think that would happen. More likely Leesman.
  13. The Trout pick doesn't really bother me that much. A lot of teams missed on Trout not just the Sox. Trout was real raw and everything just clicked for him after being drafted. Mitchell was on the way to being a real good baseball player before getting hurt.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 8, 2011 -> 01:25 PM) CST_soxvan Daryl Van Schouwen Lucas Harrell was claimed off waivers by Houston. Beaten to it.
  15. De Aza looks like a Lillibridge-type. Good fourth outfielder, but if you start him on an everyday basis, he will get exposed. Doyle is really tough to say. So far, great numbers at every stop in the minors. Great peripherals. But alas he is 25 in AA. Right now, you would have to err on the side of caution and say swing starter, long man.
  16. I re-watched it and looked for his child. Got sick chills seeing his son on the video. Two eerie coincidences: 1) It is almost one year to the day that another fan died at that stadium (366 days ago to be exact) 2) Last year's fan was a firefighter and apparently this guy was, too. http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb/news/story?id=6747510
  17. Video. You see him fall, and that's really it. Might be taken down soon because of MLB rights issues, so not sure how long the video will be up. I can't imagine how Hamilton feels. This is just so sad. Such a freak thing. Can't even imagine the horror for the guy's son.
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 09:16 PM) http://www.sportspagemagazine.com/content/...-de.shtml?47712 Any idea if there will be a webcast for that? I would love to watch it.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) Wait, WTF...we moved Rios up to 5th in the order? What's wrong with you Fathom? Why wouldn't you want our stud-.600-OPS hitters backing 4th/5th?!?
  20. Why do I torture myself with this s*** year after year?
  21. Dayan intentionally walked in his second at-bat. PS: I just got a turkey of posts. Three in a row!
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2011 -> 06:42 PM) So what type of stuff does Axelrod have? This is not sourced or anything, but I would guess high 80s with the fastball and a solid change-up and curveball. Has the quintessential Minnesota Twins prospect look. Not going to overpower you, throws strikes and doesn't beat himself.
  23. Dayan is so f***ing good. It is downright embarrassing how the organization is handling him. Third best hitter in the entire organization at worst (hell he very well could be better than Quentin right now) and he rots in AAA.
  24. Pierre has no doubt stepped up his game. Fielding still questionable. But he is making himself much less of a black hole now. If he plays like he has the past two weeks (while still not great), he is at least serviceable unlike Dunn, Rios and Morel. I haven't been saying Viciedo for Pierre for the last 1.5 weeks, so that should say I how I feel about him. I am all for Viciedo for Dunn now.
