Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) In the playoffs you really can throw the regular season out the window. And we have pitching that can shut down a team on any given night. We'd absolutely have a chance to do something IMO Right now the playoff teams in the AL besides the AL Central would be: Boston Texas Yankees. We are 3-0 against Boston, 2-2 against New York and 2-3 against Texas. I feel like we can compete in the playoffs since we play better against better competition. However, getting there is proving difficult due to our inconsistency.

Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) Hell, if you get a great package for CQ, then you can put Rios in RF for 2 weeks while Viciedo recovers. Let's face it...losing Quentin this year probably eliminates you from the AL Central pennant chase. The funny thing is I think if the Sox got into the playoffs, they could do damage since they play the top teams so well.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) If Dayan is healthy I honestly dont think we lose much by plugging him in RF when Q gets dealt.

Quentin sought after by BOS
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) +1. And we know that KW is VERY eager for some talented young pitching. Young, talented pitching is how you win for the future. Get those good arms that are cost-controlled, and you are set up terrifically for the future.

I would be so down for a Arodys Vizcaino for Quentin move.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) @Ken_Rosenthal Ken Rosenthal Source: Braves "hot" for Quentin - and #WhiteSox love ATL's young arms. One holdup...the condition of Viciedo's thumb at AAA. Would replace Quentin for #WhiteSox. Hasn't played since Saturday. You trade Q. You have to. Sox have adequate replacement in Viciedo, and can really help re-build for the future. Despite the Sox only being 3.5 games back, we are too inconsistent to make the playoffs. Atlanta has some of the best prospects in baseball.

I hate Mike Martz. Greg Olsen is a solid weapon, so why trade him? Everything Martz has done or brought to Chicago has failed majorly, so why trust him in not wanting Olsen?

QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Bucs have their first three picks signed already. Really liking the idea of taking care of them first to get them in camp and worry about finding FA pieces after. Personally I think that method is stupid. The draft picks are the team's property regardless, so if they spend time on them initially, they might miss out on top free agents.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) Can I ask you how you came to your conclusion that he is a nothing? Law had him ranked higher than Chris Sale coming into this season on his top 100. Obviously there are scouts out there who project him to be quite something. I came to my conclusion based on him having a very mediocre year in AA (4.20 ERA/1.41 WHIP/10.1 H per 9 inn) for a guy who will be 25 in two months. If he were so good as a prospect, why are 21-year-old prospects hitting him so damn hard? I know I am not a scout and can't see his stuff, but his lack of success this year is quite worrisome.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:07 AM) If Stewart's pitching in PCL, then I don't really care what his numbers were. I remember Reds fans freaking out whent hey traded him for Rolen. It's actually AA where he is posting the 4.20 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. He is a nothing, and won't be anything more than backend rotation help for when Peavy re-injures himself.

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:05 AM) Are you angry or something? Haha. I have just had it with Kenny's horrible moves.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
A minor leaguer with a career 1.34 WHIP is nothing to be happy about. Add that he is 24, f*** f*** f***

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
This was brutal. Simply simply brutal. I cannot think of one reason how this makes the Sox better for now or the future. The money saved in this deal won't even be put back into the team because we need to cut payroll. I HATE KENNY WILLIAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
According to Gonzo, we get Zach Stewart as the prospect. A 24-year-old starter in AAA with a 4.20 ERA and 1.41 WHIP. KILL ME

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) Jackson for Frasor doesn't open a roster spot for DeAza. Teahen is included.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
We don't get a prospect?? If true, please leave KW.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:48 AM) My 10:43AM prediction was pretty damn good Haha, yeah. That was amazing. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:50 AM) KW interview will happen in 10 mins to explain deal. Wonder what kind of fluff he will spew out how this deal makes the Sox just as competitive in 2011, but even better in 2012.
-
Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
Man, can we just find out who the prospect is already? That is the key to the deal.

QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) BNightengale Bob Nightengale #MLB White Sox waiting for Jacksons arrival. He is now being told deal is official So the Sox are waiting for him, but telling him in person he is gone all at the same time. LOL

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:27 AM) Would y'all have done Jackson + Viciedo + Reed for Rasmus? No...As good as Rasmus can be, I will take my chances with Viciedo.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:46 AM) This just isn't a bad deal. Get rid of enigmatic EJax for a good righty reliever who is cheap for two years. Dump what is left of Teahen's contract and get a shot in the dark with a B prospect. The enigmatic E-Jax is arguably the best starting pitcher on the market. If all you get is a B-prospect and a decent reliever (a soon-to-be 34-year-old one at that), then that is a major fail. I would rather have pressed on with E-Jax trying to win the division. It will all come down to the prospects we are getting back, but I will assume they will nothing like when KW traded Ray Durham for f***ing Jon Adkins.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) I think I will wait until we know the actual trade details for sure, like who the minor leaguer(s) is/are, before jumping off a cliff. Also, let's see what else KW is doing here. But if the trade is in a vacuum, and the prospect is worth nothing... then yeah, that's garbage. If the last five years are any indication, I will be choosing between the Golden Gate and the Bay Bridge.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
Fathom looks like your 10:43 a.m. time guess will be pretty close. If we don't get a legit prospect or two, I am seriously boycotting White Sox baseball.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:22 AM) Heath Bell makes about as much sense as Edwin Jackson. That team is what? 10 out in the wild card and they're interested in a soon-to-be free agent closer? Is it odd that Rosenthal's report almost lends credence to the Jackson rumor? It's for the draft picks. If the Jays think the draft picks they obtain for Bell are better than prospects they give up, it makes sense for them in that way.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 12:05 AM) At what time does this trade break tomorrow? I'm guessing 10:43 AM. How did you come up with that? That's so arbitrary.
