7/17 Games
Smith is a baller. They really need to move him up, way too old for Rookie Ball and way too good.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 12:16 PM) What, giving up an apartment after being called up? He's not exactly made a million dollars. Keeping an apt. in birmingham after moving to charlotte is a decent expense. I need to retract that last comment. That was awfully stupid, ha.

Marmol on the bloc, should the Sox be calling?
I like Marmol, but I don't think the Sox have the ammo to trade for him.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 09:56 AM) The fielding percentage is surprising, considering we have Pierre and Teahen on the team. A.J.'s no defensive wizard either. Fielding percentage is a misleading statistic though. While obviously it is really good not to make errors, other teams have better range overall than us and thus, make more balls put in play outs. And our ability to stop a running game is atrocious.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 16, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Apparently he was very pissed and still is about being demoted. He and his wife had given up their leased apartment when he went up to Charlotte. Now they're living with another couple. The White Sox at least had the decency to fly him back, albeit on a red eye, to Birmingham. That was very imprudent on Kuhn's part I will say though.

Sox versus Tigers Game thread
QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Jul 16, 2011 -> 05:24 PM) Maybe three SS's in MLB make that play by Alexei. While it was a great play, it wasn't that great. Most MLB SS should be able to make that play. So E-Jax has his best start, do we trade while he comes off his best start?

Bobby Jenks back to the DL. 6.32 ERA and a 2.23 WHIP. Safe to say KW was at least right to let his lard ass go.

The White Sox sign uber-talented DOUG DAVIS!!!
Seriously? Why not just promote from within to AAA? This is just stupid. We have four lefties in the pen better than this turd. He won't ever see the MLB roster, and if he does...

2011-2012 NHL Thread
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 15, 2011 -> 11:33 AM) $2.3m annually for Frolik is pretty good. He will probably net 17-20 goals next year and be a pest in the playoffs on that Bickell and Bolland line. It's very similar to when they had Steeger-Bolland-Ladd. Frolik has a similar game to Steeger (might be overall better when D is considered) and Bickell is that power forward in the mold of Ladd albeit not as good as Ladd.

Where there is smoke, there is usually fire. It may be a case of a deal not being done, but for all intents and purposes, it's done.

Future's Game Thread
So thought it might be cool to get a Future's Game thread going. I am taping the game, but will be eagerly awaiting to watch later. On my Comcast, the description for the game goes as follows: Nevermind that Trout is not playing anymore, but I laughed hysterically upon reading the Infante part. Let's go Dayan!! According to Phil Rogers, Dayan is batting clean-up for the World team.

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 09:49 AM) The 2011 Red Sox and Twins responded without changing managers. First, the Twins are still seven games out and eight games under, they haven't responded. They have just played better. Responded would be in first place, and they aren't even close to that yet. The Red Sox have the third highest payroll in baseball, and it was the first 12 games of the year they really shat.

Backup Catcher
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 10, 2011 -> 08:27 AM) He was yanked from the game yesterday so its assumed he's coming up. The question will be can he make contact at the major league level? So far the answer appears to be no. Yeah those big ass swings can work in the minors, but not likely in the Majors. He is also is hurt by the fact that he gets PT once or twice a week. Will be nice to see what/if we have something in Flowers for an extended period of time.

There was your game-winning SAC fly if you bunt.

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
Whoever that former manager was that called Ozzie has a lot of nerve.

A broken hand could be a blessing in disguise. Why not see what Flowers can do -- again?
-
White Sox vs. Twins, 3:10 CT, Fox
WTF is Ozzie even doing? He always goes out to pointlessly ask the ump what just happened when he knows exactly what happened.

QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:59 PM) I've been a supporter of Morel to this point, though it seems he's overmatched. I really liked Morel coming into this year and even through the first two months. But at some point, you have to make adjustments and he seemingly is incapable of doing that.
-
White Sox vs. Twins, 3:10 CT, Fox
Brent Morel has no bat speed whatsoever.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) Doubtful even Lillibridge could have scored on that had they pinch-run him. Maybe...10% shot. I disagree. They would have at least tried, but I think Lilli does score.

Don't worry guys, Brent Morel has this...and by has this, I mean he will roll up a breaking pitch the left side for an out.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) No way he wasn't making the team They would not have brought him up to sit on the bench, which is what would have happened had he started the year on the Big League club.

Mark has not given up more than three earned runs in his last 13 outings (including today) and has five wins. YEESH.
