White Sox signed LHP Doug Davis to a minor league contract.

Davis was released by the Cubs at the end of June after posting a 6.50 ERA over nine starts. The veteran left-hander will provide depth at the Triple-A level

Seriously? Why not just promote from within to AAA? This is just stupid. We have four lefties in the pen better than this turd. He won't ever see the MLB roster, and if he does...

In the event that 2-3 starters are traded we now have another warm body to fill the spot

Can I have that contract please?

They'd probably get the same value if it was me pitching :P

This would be awesome if it was 2005 Doug Davis.

This is the move that sets the brilliant master plan into action.

I find it comical that management didn't even think damage of the jokes being made at their expensive might outweigh the bombs given up by Davis in Charlotte.

It's obvious guys.

He pitches to Dunn for batting practice.

I love it when people overreact to a minor league deal signing.

I think people are playing around for the most part. Nobody cares about this waste of a signing.

Coop will fi......ahhh forget it.

Actually, I think the plan is to convert him into a DH and Walker will fix his swing.

Post of the year.

Period.

Thinking about this a bit more - I wonder if this is insurance in the case should Peavy be unable to continue and a starter is dealt.

Never know.

We have.....

Peavy-Danks-Buehrle-Floyd-Jackson-Humber-Santiago and now Davis as back-up.

We have 8 starters. Either Kenny is just stockpiling for next year when we lose Buehrle and Jackson, or he is planning on trading multiple starters in the next couple weeks.

The move to finally put us over the top!

Didn't Doug Davis beat some kind of cancer?

If we have a bad showing over the next 2 weeks - I wouldn't write this off as an option.

Cancer of the thyroid.
