  1. I kinda want AJ to make an out, so we can get this game official. Buehrle gonna need a quick 1-2-3 next inning with the rain moving in.
  2. Does Hawk realize a mediocre Little Leaguer could fool Dunn right now?
  3. Taking a straight fastball right down the middle. Wow.
  4. Is the shift even necessary considering Dunn is gonna strikeout?
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 08:00 PM) Exactly. I hate Juan like the rest of you, but I give him his props there. It was the right use of Juan. Omar and CQ deserve some blame, not the bunt. I am not criticizing Juan there, he got the job done. But in general principle, if you are squeezing in the third inning, something is wrong with that player (and clearly there is something wrong with Juan). It was def. the right call because he was not gonna get the run in swinging.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:54 PM) Yeah. No way that Lilli could do that. It's sad that we have to resort to squeeze plays in the third inning.
  7. You know what's funny, if a Yankee or Red Sox player had hit a HR in five straight games it would make the A block on Sportscenter, Konerko will make his appearance about halfway through the show.
  8. Pierre just bought another month of starting with that squeeze.
  9. Can they stop telling me what somebody's average has been since [insert date]? Average means nothing. Tell me his OPS or wOBA Comcast.
  10. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 07:35 PM) Born in 1988. He better get out of rookie ball soon. He was a QB at Pittsburgh (surprise that he was drafted by the Sox) before playing baseball. So that's why he is old. But he has got terrific power, great defensively and top-notch make-up.
  11. If Konerko is God, what is Dunn? A cockroach?
  12. Kevan Smith, 2011 draftee from Boston College, 2-2 with a HR so far. That kid is gonna move FAST.
  13. Ozzie pre-game quote from Daryl Van Schouwen of the Sun-Times' twitter OMG. WTF.
  14. QUOTE (SouthSidePride05 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 02:02 PM) What's going on? The great Oz must be mad at this organtation! He's sabotaging us before he moves to S Florida. It's the old George Costanza-Yankee routine. Try your best to get yourself fired by committing every egregious act you can toward the organization, yet keep your job.
  15. Juan Pierre ranks 9th in MLB in plate appearances. The two lowest WARs of the top 10 in PAs are Austin Jackson (0.9) and Melky Cabrera (1.7). Noodle-armed Pierre is at -1.1, though he somehow improved since his -1.2 a couple days back. PROGRESS!!
  16. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Maybe that's why he lost his speed. He's exhausted from running 6 hours before each game. That's probably it! LOL Too many pre-game wind sprints.
  17. QUOTE (forrestg @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Dunn's treatment is the opposite of reality for us when we go to our jobs. If we go to our jobs and not produce at an acceptable rate for our pay grade we are demoted or let go. Dunn however; with his less than mediocre showing is treated like a big chubby Princess. Chances are though, if you were great at your job for the last eight years and all of sudden struggled for a brief part of year nine, you would, too, be given the benefit of the doubt.
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) But if he's here we have to play him. After all, he is an investment that the Sox made. You are also forgetting how he arrives to the park at 11 a.m. before anyone else, gels well with his teammates and often leaves the park after everyone else.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 01:31 PM) I think that the expectations coming in that he'd be Miguel Cabrera at 19 (sold by the people who signed him) play into that as well. You are probably right, and since he didn't have huge success right away, the big guns (Callis, Law, others at BA) viewed him as a failure despite showing some serious potential. On a pure hitting basis, he is probably one of the top 10 hitters in the minors. Now, he doesn't have a polished game like others in fielding, running and plate discipline, which makes him less of a prospect than many guys. But on potential as a hitter, he is just about as good as anyone out there sans maybe Harper.
  20. I think the overall point though remains that Viciedo has been ignored by the mainstream prospect publications and reporters despite his success.
  21. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) The f***? What is the difference between Jared Mitchell, Chris Young, and Keenyn Walker? Yeah, they are all relatively similar players.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 12:30 PM) Hopefully, Forman is lying. I think he is. He isn't gonna come out and promise big changes because if he can't make a big move, he'll look like an idiot. JR even said the Bulls need a much better scoring 2-guard, so I think they make a move, how big is relative. I don't think it's Dwight big, but a guy like Jason Richardson would still be a big move, IMO.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:04 AM) 2003 was quite the fail. Carl Everett was such a monster for Texas that 1st half, we got him right before the All-Star Game and he played in front of the Comiskey faithful. That was one hell of a f***ing team that finished 2nd place. Also the year of the Billy Koch experiment. Gag. Oh, and the rotating fifth starter.
  24. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:04 AM) Pierre being gone is a good thing in every way I can think of. Replacing him with Viciedo would be the ideal move, though. When we lose this division by about five games with Pierre sporting a -2 WAR, we will know exactly the one move that could have made up the difference. That is not to say Dunn/Rios aren't equally culpable in this White Sox s*** show, but we have those guys for 3+ years and need them to rebound of be completely f***ed for the next few years (as if we aren't already though). We don't have another player that can DH and Lillibridge as good as he's been is not suited to start six games a week at one position rather four or five games a week all over. So while I realize Dunn/Rios are the bigger underachievers, Pierre's s***tiness could have easily been resolved by one simple move.
  25. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 20, 2011 -> 08:17 PM) Are you Terry? If you are, you were really good yesterday. No sadly, I was Josh on I-94.
