  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 09:25 AM) Do you have to pay a player the rest of his contract up front if he is released, or do you still pay them on the normal paydays? Without knowing the rules, I would still say he would paid every two weeks like the rest of the team.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 22, 2011 -> 07:20 AM) I wasn't worried, but halfway through the season with his current numbers coupled with his decline the second half of last season has to be a huge concern. He does lead the league in strikeouts. He's basically been Carlos Zambrano as a DH. Don't disrespect Zambrano like that.
  3. If we only score three runs against Doug "f***ing" Davis...
  4. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) Carlos Sanchez 2-2, 2B, 3 BB tonight for Bristol. Turns 19 in 8 days. 41 BB in 156 AB last year in DSL. Granted, the pitchers are wild in that league so who knows what that means. Could be worth following. 41/26 BB-to-K ratio is dirty in any league. Definitely a guy to watch. Really young with great discipline already is nice to see. Obviously we'll know more after his Rookie-ball season.
  5. The Dunn signing was not KW's fault. He was perfect for the Sox. We can blame KW for the Rios thing, though. Dunn has been about as consistent a slugger as there is in the Major Leagues. For the past eight years, you know you are gonna get .400 OBP, .900 OPS and lots of Ks. With Rios, we picked him up and his fat ass contract when he was hitting awfully and had been declining the past few years.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:18 PM) Please. You have to let Dunn bat there. You don't pinch hit for the 15 million dollar man. When your $15-million man is batting .021 against lefties, you do.
  7. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) Can the Sox win another game in spite of Ozzie. He has to have the guts to pinch hit for Dunn there, even a random fan had a better shot. I trust Virginia McCaskey more than Dunn in that situation.
  8. A blind man could see that one coming. I don't care how much Dunn makes, you do what's best for the team there and that is pinch hitting for Dunn.
  9. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) He's running at second. WTF!!!! Pinch hit Edwin Jackson. Seriously, he should not be batting here. Beckham would suffice, too.
  10. You guys get your wish, Adam Dunn against a AAA pitcher.
  11. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) Isn't Haiti the only former French colony in the Caribbean? Wikipedia told me, also included are: # Dominica # French Guiana # Guadeloupe # Haiti # Martinique # Saint-Barthélemy # Saint Lucia # Saint Martin
  12. What's more appalling, the fact that Rodrigo Lopez is pitching in a 3-2 game in the 9th inning or that we probably won't score against him?
  13. If we don't add four runs insurance against a guy who was bad even during his prime, I am gonna curse aloud multiple times.
  14. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:06 PM) Yep, is French Caribbean a real thing or did I simple mean Haitian? # Dominica # French Guiana # Guadeloupe # Haiti # Martinique # Saint-Barthélemy # Saint Lucia # Saint Martin All that is French Caribbean, apparently.
  15. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:05 PM) Haitian? HE GAWN! Yep, is French Caribbean a real thing or did I simple mean Haitian?
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 11:03 PM) Well, I knew he's from Alabama. I should've limited it to Hispanic or AA. To answer your question, I have no clue. I've watched tons of pregame and postgame shows for the last few years. Maybe I have heard him talk, but I've never really listened to anything the piece of crap has to say. He most definitely is Black, but his name suggests he could be Hispanic or French Caribbean, too.
  17. Right move, but I just have this bad feeling that Santos will not have control 2nite.
  18. QUOTE (bobryansson @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) Anybody know the answer to my batting average question comparing with versus without RISP? With runners in scoring position: .249 average, .324 OPB, .379 SLG and .703 OPS. Overall: .254 average, .322 OBP, .397 SLG and .719 OPS. You can do the math and see we are not too far away from our season averages with runners in scoring position. Worse, but not incredibly worse.
  19. That throw was Juan Pierre-esque. I made fun of Pierre again!
  20. A fly out for Dunn!!!!!!!!!!! He's back!!!!!!!
  21. QUOTE (whtsoxfan @ Jun 21, 2011 -> 09:43 PM) Kenny and Ozzie playing Hot Potato.... “I don’t mind having Viciedo here–at all. My problem is, where am I going to play him? He’s got to play every day. If they want to bring Viciedo up, I got the pen ready to put it down.” http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/06/21/ken...lay-hot-potato/ Again the words out of his mouth making me laugh. You switch him and our outfielder with a -1.1 WAR. Does Ozzie even understand statistics beyond the basic average, home runs and such?
  22. Juan Pierre even makes outs in rain delay programming haha
  23. Rain delay programming. Ah May 2006 when I thought this team was the best ever.
  24. Two outs until officiality (completely made that word up).
