  1. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) They're saying the Sox allegedly told the Guillen family this, and also told other teams to lay off him because they're taking him. I am gonna call BS on this. It really makes no sense.
  2. QUOTE (Nokona @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 03:14 PM) Bernstein on the Score saying the Guillens feel very, very hurt and were promised that Ozney would be taken between 10-15. Yes! Now let's have Ozzie go on a tirade against KW and the organization.
  3. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 06:48 AM) I get what Jake is trying to say. But whoever these "guys" are he's talking about aren't ending up on the DL every two weeks. Yeah, there is a difference between something nagging that long-term is innocuous (just short-term pain) and something that if aggravated can lead to a major injury.
  4. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) Dunn will still end up with 40+ HRs by end of season Come again?
  5. Are we just drafting the entire Cal baseball team?
  6. Must be easy heat because he looks like he throws effortlessly.
  7. Love the upside. Great pick because of the risk.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:39 AM) Johnson should be pitching this weekend in the Super Regionals. Looking at his stats, seems like someone you don't want to hit against. Control is really bad, but didn't give up a lot of hits. Kinda sounds like ole Danny Wright if the 95 velo is right.
  9. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:34 AM) Wow there goes Tilson. I think that's a bit early for him, but I think that means the Cards probably think he's signable. That's an organization I would sign with.
  10. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 11:28 AM) Vogelbach is 5-11, 260. That's not right. He is a DH drafted by an NL team. At least Prince Fielder is relatively athletic. He is big, but he can scoot for a guy his size. You probably need a sundial to time him around the base paths.
  11. Who are the top college starters left? I am sure we will take one of them.
  12. Cubs just took an offensive guard with their second-round pick:
  13. I don't mind giving draft's flash grades, but we just need to realize as good as drafts look today, those same ones will look very bad in four years. And vice versa. I would be interesting to see how Baseball America's draft grades look four years later. Probably very little correlation.
  14. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) He is still only 18. He should still know better than that. You learn how to play baseball the right way when you start playing highly competitive baseball, which he has since 10 years old probably.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) Um, what did he do wrong? Acted immature. Watched his home run leave the park like he hasn't hit one in his entire life. And blew the kiss at the end. If he did that in the majors, he would have a nice bruise on his back the next day.
  16. How can an owner say he is satisfied with his GM/Manager when his $125-million team is under .500?
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) Lines that you guys are going to love: But the Sox told me has a great feel for baseball.
  18. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 08:28 AM) Wait wait wait. We gotta remember we don't typically draft guys to develop them fully, but to trade them instead. Hopefully this guy slaps up a .330 in WS and Kanny next year with 60 SBs and we ship him off for some ready talent. Can't wait. $5 to Bart Scott.
  19. When does day two get going?
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 03:18 AM) Drafting a reliever with the 13th overall pick is a terrible strategy. Considering most first-round picks do nothing as major leaguers, even a relieving Chris Sale will be a fine pick. Obviously his value is higher as a starter, and I think he will be made a starter next year, but he was a terrific pick regardless where he ends up. If he is a reliever, he is gonna be a late-inning reliever of some sort and that still has tremendous value.
  21. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) He played at North Park I thought. I dont think the kid would get a sniff of division I. http://www.uicflames.com/sports/m-basebl/m...len_oney00.html Must have transferred after a year to NP.
  22. It's looking better, and you would think we can only get better since Dunn/Rios have sucked so much. I still worry a lot about the bullpen depth and the starting pitching remaining productive.
  23. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) Ah the Guillens good for a foot in mouth experience. The funny thing is that I wonder who was a better prospect Oney Guillen or Carrie Schueler. That kid is such an idiot. He only played baseball at UIC because of his name, and only got the chance to have a .376 minor league OPS because of his name. His baseball ability is about the same as a few people on this board, and that ain't a lie.
