2010-2011 NBA Thread
Donaghy is just trying to get attention. I really can't believe Van Gundy would intentionally say stuff in LeBron's favor let alone what Donaghy asserts is Van Gundy wagering on the NBA Final's games with inside info. This dude is such a idiot. EDIT: Is this some sort of parody?

Some New Predictions
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) I think James is one of the first to really point out the silliness of the win totals, to be honest. Over the long haul though win totals are pretty meaningful. I mean you may have a year or two in a long career where you have low win totals despite great numbers or high win totals despite bad numbers. But everything tends to regress toward the mean. The best pitchers end up with the most wins. I would be willing to bet if you looked at the top 10 pitchers in wins from 2000-2009, they would be the so-called top 10 or 15 pitchers in baseball during that stretch.

Thomas "had a lot of teammates involved" in steroids
QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 09:11 AM) He was in everybody's top ten. Huge star. Like caufield said, for a few years it was him and Griffey.

6/2 Games
If Shane Lindsay didn't have such horses*** control, I would say he would be a nice addition to the Sox bullpen. But as impressive as his arm is, he will get eaten up with his control at the ML level. Still crazy numbers he has: 26 innings, 7 hits, 27 BBs and 33 Ks Kinney having a solid year and has been in the majors before, so i think we will see him at some point soon.

2011 Films Thread
The Hangover was funny like Borat was funny. It was just real raunchy stuff that really makes no sense and you don't have to think about it. I didn't go into the movie expecting Seinfeld-esque humor.

Lilly flower
Considering Lillibridge can play at the very least five positions solidly (LF, CF, RF, DH and 2B) and probably two more adequately (SS/3B), there is no reason he shouldn't be starting 5 or 6 games a week until he cools off. This is true especially when our LF and CF has the worst WAR in the Majors at their positions and our DH is second to last. Really there is no reason Lillibridge shouldn't be starting over one of Pierre/Rios everyday.

Some New Predictions
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) This team is too unpredictable to predict. It's really all about pitching and defense. If the starters are good and Sale, Thornton, Crain and Sergio are as good as they have been of late, the team should finish over .500. We actually do need another reliable righty in the pen with Pena out of the mix right now, thankfully. It'd be a risk to put Jackson there, but it might be smart. Who will be the HR leader? Paul Konerko How many HRs will Dunn end up hitting? 10 How many wins will Humber have? 10 How many wins will the Sox end up with? 3 games over or under .500 What're your thoughts? It'd be nice to beat the Cubs in both series. Either you don't like math, or you are saying one postponed game will not be made up

*Official* Work Out Thread
Running a half marathon this Satuday. 13.1 Chicago. Hoping for a PR there. Flat, fast course and I PR'd there last year, so hoping for a repeat.

Thomas "had a lot of teammates involved" in steroids
Well I can think of two big-time guys he played with. One was known as the Horse and one had a mysterious surgery in Vienna. I could name others I was suspicious of, too, but the list would be long. Also this further anoints Frank as my favorite player of all-time. Man I really am gonna try to get out to Cooperstown when he is inducted. Not only a clean guy, but such a good person. Never in trouble outside of baseball.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Ben Gordon is not that great a player. Sure he can score in bunches, but he turns the ball over like crazy and never plays defense. He is also small. I don't want any part of him again. I can't see how he helps this team get over the hump. He will give you 20 on occasion at the offensive end, but he easily gives it back on the defensive end. Plus, his contract sucks, which probably won't be realistic with the new CBA. I am scared to think Rose would have to guard the opposing team's best guard if we have BG.

Some New Predictions
HR leader = CQ, 34 Dunn = 17 HRs Humber = 12 wins Sox win 83 games, enough to make it look like KW and Ozzie did an Okay job.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:33 PM) Hawk: "And that's how you get yourself a 16,000 square foot house in Scottsdale." Did he really say that again?! That's so annoying. Glad I am not watching, only Gamedaying.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) Thank goodness he will have the most ABs on the team. I've never seen a player so deserving of it. The Way the Stealth Elf is playing, he should be the leadoff hitter. He has the speed that Ozzie covets and is just ranking. Pierre should bat 10th.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:28 PM) Rios should be put on the DL due to his toe. As for Pierre, he'll continue to suck the life out of this offense for another 100 games. Pierre could also go to the DL for weakness in his arm kinda like Mauer's weakness in his legs.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:22 PM) He and Lance Berkman, among other "reborn" aging sluggers, make me definitely think there's something going around the league. Berkman just had a bad 2010. In 2009, he was solid. Ortiz always screamed out user though.

Sox vs BoSox Game Thread 6-1-11
This team could be a hell of a lot better if Viciedo started in LF and Lillibridge in CF. At some point, you just have to play the better players regardless of age/cost. Heck, I would even put Teahen (when he comes back) at DH to see if he gets hot.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) I don't think anyone is calling for Lillibridge to get an extension right now and be our starting LF next season. However, he is a great bench player. We have two of the worst starters in the Majors at LF and CF. I am saying he should be starting right now, and if he keeps it up then next year.

Jackson would accept move to pen
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) E-Jax to bullpen = epic fail for KW. Yep. Just add it to the list. That has to be doubly brutal though. First you gave up a cheap, solid pitcher for him. And now, he might not even be a starter on your team.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 1, 2011 -> 12:41 PM) Didn't we almost trade Jermaine Dye for Delcarmen and Wily mo Pena? Nice memory. http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/reds...ours_to_go.html I wish we could have got Masterson, would have saved the Sox some embarrassing games against him.

Sox vs BoSox Game Thread 6-1-11
We just better hope our hitters don't try and hit a home run every time. I realize it's tempting to just swing for the fences against a dude throwing 60 MPH, but you just gotta focus on line drives, not fly balls.

2011 White Sox Catch-All Thread
The Mariners released Manny Delcarmen today. He hasn't been good for a couple years now and was not good in AAA, but he was real good before. I gotta imagine he is better than Bruney or Marquez. I think we should make a play for him.
