  1. I've voted 50 times now. I voted 25 the day it came out for the Sox, and I just voted another 25 today.
  2. It's crazy how they pass in three's. (Reagan, Charles, Wiley) I've watched The Sports Reporters and Sportscenter many times with him on. No question it's scary how he died. He was awfully young to pass. RIP.
  3. I've only seen Roger Clemens and Nolan Ryan; I'm actually lucky enough to say I saw Nolan Ryan pitch in '93. I was 7 at the time, but it's still pretty awesome. However, I have to go with Clemens. Clemens came into the league and helped the Red Sox go to the WS, and he has just been dominant in MLB for about as long as I have been alive. He's also had to pitch in an era of baseball where the umps' zones have gotten smaller and the batters have gotten bigger. Clemens is the greatest pitcher of all time.
  4. Agreed. I was thinking about that last night looking at the all-star ballots. There aren't that many "great" catchers; I don't see many in the minors either. I just started to look at what I-Rod and Piazza have done; all I could say is wow. I really feel we have a perennial all-star in Olivo if he stays on this upward track. Olivo!
  5. Looking at what redandwhite just posted, they were basically about the same w/ the exception of BA. You have to remember what Boston's offense was last year, and what the White Sox offense was in the first half of 2003. That had to hurt Thomas' RBI numbers a little bit, and help Vartiek's.
  6. Yes, Frank was on the list. He finished 2nd.
  7. Thomas' numbers in 2003, at the ASB: AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS 301 46 81 23 0 20 48 64 8 66 0 0 .269 .407 .545 .952
  8. Yeah, and Frank didn't deserve to play in front of the home fans at USCF......
  9. I voted forever on that last year for Frank, we're simply out numbered. If there's a Red Sox or Yankee on that 32nd man vote again; we're screwed.
  10. The Pistons have shown the inferiority of the East is just hype. My favorite team the Indiana Pacers, had the best record in the NBA, at 61-21. The Pistons are just a better team; they have the potential to score and the defense is ALWAYS on. I don't think it matters what the format is; the Pistons are going to win it.
  11. I like that; it shows we have one of the best GMs in the bigs. Imagine if he had the freedom to work with a team that has a $80-$95M payroll. KW would be scary. However, I really don't think Beltran's worth it. We know he's going to be just a rent-a-player.
  12. I tried it out on MTV.com, and I like it. I think I'll probably pick it up sometime in the near future.
  13. Also coached the IU football team for a little bit.
  14. • Ranks 2nd in AL in HR (16) • Ranks 8th in AL in R (43) • Ranks 1st in AL in BB (54) • Ranks 1st in AL in OBP (.463) • Ranks 2nd in AL in SLG (.631) • Ranks 1st in AL in OPS (1.094) Projected season stats are: 118 (Runs), 154 (Hits), 38 (2Bs), 44 (HRs), 110 (RBIs), 148 (BBs), .463 (OBP), .631 (SLG), 1.094 (OPS) at a .299 BA.
  15. You make some great points.....Welcome to the board, Blizzard of Ozzie!
  16. I guarantee he's improved. He was 14 at the time, and there's no question he wasn't done growing. I still can see him being something special.
  17. From what I remember of it being in SI etc....I don't think he ever knew what he was doing was wrong.
  18. I think the writers are starting to question giving the rookie of the year award to players like Shingo. Hideki Matsui was well-deserving of the rookie of the year award in the AL last year; however, I think the media kind of froze him out because of his years in Japan. It's pretty interesting, because they gave it to Ichiro and Nomo. Also, Jackie Robinson was the rookie of the year and he had many years of experience in the Negro Leagues. I really think he should be in the running if his numbers are there. You should have a shot at the rookie of the year award, if it's your first season in MLB.
  19. LMAO......That is so much like the Whitesox.com message boards, it's scary! This is a tough ass question; I think I could probably handle my wife being a Cubs fan.....It would be harder if she was a fan of a division rival.
