You make good points, but what says we keep Nomar....I like the trade a lot if we keep Nomar for multiple years.

I hated this idea right away, just thinking that we probably couldn't keep Nomar after '04. But your optimism changes my whole opinion on the trade. IF we could keep Nomar, I love it. We would definitely have a guy to build the team around for a few years if we could keep him in Chicago. I just don't want what happened to the team after this season to happen next year. We've lost a lot of FA's so quickly this offseason.

I really agree with what you're saying there. I understand Mags may not be the biggest clubhouse leader, and a Mags trade is imminent. I'd just personally rather do the LA deal. A point I want everyone to see, Mags had better numbers in a pitcher's park than Nomar did in Fenway...

That's another good reason. I just don't understand why we just don't do that deal now. What we need is pitching, and we get tons of it in that deal.

I just wish Nomar would die or fall off a cliff before tomorrow's deadline of 5 pm....I would much rather do the LA deal we had standing for Mags, if it's absolutely necessary that we trade Magglio. We get so much more in that deal, and it's everything we do need. We don't need much more offense.

See, this is why I hate this deal....I really don't see how we will keep Nomar. Nomar has said many times if he's not in Boston, he wants to be on the west coast. Miguel Tejada got $12M a year in his deal; Nomar already rejected a 4 year/$60M from Boston. I really don't think we'd offer him that much money or more to stay here. However, IF we are willing to spend that much on Nomar, why don't we just keep Mags and spend it on him? This trade makes no sense to me....
