Im starting this thread a day early, because Howard Stern has made a major impact on my young life (20 is a couple months away). He's going to Sirius, and after i activate my reciever i will be going with him (its kinda gay to say it that way... but i idolize the guy and its how i feel....) He has been a major factor in the way my peronality has molded (read some of my posts) and has made my morning drive a pleasure for years. (my dad let me listen to him before i was old enough to drive) Whoever is a Stern Fan on this board, will most likely agree with me, and i hope that they wont hesitate to post some of their favorite moments...... Here's Mine: Howard had admitted to having cyber sex way back when the internet had just begun... he bravely invites one of his cyber companions to the show, swearing she must be so f***ing hot because of the way she can type sexually explicit comments online... well she comes in and she is this housewife that while attractive is well just kind of a normal looking woman... he still calls her "baby" and "honey" and tells his audience that they dont understand the love they share (sarcastically of course) It was a moment where he totally allowed us into something taboo at the time (still f***ing disgusting in my eyes) and something very personal that i hope no one else would want to admit to.... i laughed my ass off and still do to this day. again, if ur a stern fan (most probably older than myself) please post ur favorite memories. Steff i know your one, and i hope that you have a few to share.

well here's my theory of why Mike North does morning drive... after him... the programming can only get better... and it does, Boers and Bernstein are the best listen in the city... especially after tomorrow... consdiering Howard Stern is going to Sirius

This guy bothers me to no end... im so glad the Knicks are 6-15... i've never hated a team more than I do this current Knick team. Besides Channing Frye... the embody all the bad things about basketball. (no defense, poor shot selection, etc...) i dunno... i just hate em

Did anyone see pics of Eddy Curry wearing spandex capri's under his shorts? embarassing... im very glad he gawn

ROB MACOWIAK IS ALOT BETTER DAMASO MARTE? HE LEFT THE TEAM! LUIS VIZCAINO? THE ONE NAMED JIZCAN FOR THE MAJORITY OF THE YEAR? EL DUQUE? THE ONE WHO SPENT 2 DIFFERENT STINTS ON THE DL THIS YEAR? FRANK? OK... FINE.... BUT AT THIS POINT.... JIM THOME IS LH AND CAN PLAY SOME 1ST... FRANK CANT DO EITHER. AARON? YES... YES YES FINE... WE ALL LOVED AARON... BUT A HEALTHY THOME AND BRIAN ANDERSON IS OF MORE VALUABLE. if you honestly are angry at kenny williams... your an idiot... this is the dumbest thread in the history of the board.

Anyone catch that Hawks overtime win?
MurcieOne replied to jenksd's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Thrasher game was really exciting to watch.... anyone who saq Kovalchuk bat the puck out of mid air... from behind the goal line... witnessed the goal of the year... the kid is an unbelievable talent. The Shoot out was dissapointing from the standpoint that.... the moves werent all that spectacular... Garnett (former wolves goalie) isnt really anything special... he's an AHLer playing in the NHL IMO.... he got beat on some bad moves... the thrashers forwards shelved a couple on Bulin that were pretty solid.... bu hey...hawks won -
QUOTE(jenksd @ Dec 11, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) Everytime we play the Wizards there are a few givens: Arenas scores 329892382 points The Wizards blow a lead People get thrown around I know... this is becoming quite the rivalry... who woulda thunk it? It all started when Eddy Curry took a swing at Brendan Haywoods balls back in the preseason of 04. exciting basketball is a good thing.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 10, 2005 -> 02:32 AM) The latest report is that they are interested. Ramierz, Lee, Tejada... thats a scary 3-4-5... especially if Pierre can get on base for them. Rich Hill, Ronny Cedeno, Guzman, Pie, Walker these would have to be some of the names heading east if they wanted to talk turkey with the orioles.

QUOTE(Pauly8509CWS @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) I was there as well, and I thought the first period was very quick with a lot of the play involved in the neutral zone. Look, you cant stop what you can't catch, that line is hands down better than anything the Hawks have, to keep them on the perimeter is fine with me, it beats the hell outta them camping in the slot for shots. Also, great job by the defensemen to clear out rebounds. This is a touchy situation, see, when Ward knocked over Khabibulin Simpson was near the crease, but against a great PP Unit like the Rangers have, it's tough to take that kind of a penalty in a tie game. Khabibulin was wrong in "taking care of business as you call it. He cost the Hawks 4 minutes of even strength time, and was lucky the Rangers couldn't bury one on him. Also, I'm very surprised nobody brought up how great Duncan Keith has been playing recently. Logging the most minutes in the last three games since Aucoin has been out. He was on the ice nearly half the game yesterday, 27+ minutes. Great skating ability and positioning really outweigh his size disadvantage. Hilbert and Sharp also looked pretty good. And I though until the GWG, Arny looked like s***- lazy, slow, bad on FOs, no intensity at all. There is no doubt that Jagr is a full 2 levels of skill above anything we have, but the shots they generated from allowing him to roam, were all decent scoring chances... and granted the hawks did a good job clearing out the garbage (jimmy dowd saved a goal), if Habby doesnt make 3-4 great saves in the third where the hawks were out shot 15-5... arny never gets a chance to redeem himself. I agree that it didnt let anyone camp out in the slot... but if u let Jagr handle the puck in the zone un touched.. hes gonna find a way to beat you, were just lucky khabby answered the call agree to disagree i guess That being said Keith has been playing his best hockey since Yawney let him watch a game from the press box. I think Keith has made an unbelievable adjustment since the beginning of the year. before the rule changes, they were teaching him to focus on using his stick against his opponents because he was small... now that gets you 2 mins in the box... hes learned to use his speed to beat the play. Kieth was Yawney's boy down in Norfolk, and you cant help but be impressed... Yawney looks like the right coach for this team. Sharp fit the bill IMO, he's quick and actually won some face offs... i still dont know if hes a first line center... but he definitely fills a need and was worth the price. Hilbert intrigues me alot, hes a little on the short side, but i can see where his talent lies, he's good at creating in the offensive end and finding his shot... although he missed on a few friday night. im going to enjoy this team even more when the Finnish Flash circa 05 comes back... bottom line they play pretty tough.

QUOTE(BabyJesus69 @ Dec 8, 2005 -> 12:25 AM) even though they do it a lot, they played the entire third period like it was a 5 on 5 penalty kill. i said the same thing while i was at the game... they allowed Jagr and his cronies to work the perimeter and find their shots.... it was mind blowing. I feel kinda bad, i just wrote an article for the Gazette, talking about how all indications point to Arnason being traded, and just to make me look like a pecker head... he goes out and wins the game. Like u said... the first period was brutal to watch, yet the second period was pretty good and i think the hawks showed some pretty good resillance coming back and netting a goal right after Vandermeer coughed up the puck in our zone and gave em an garbage goal. fun game to see.

ARE YOU READY FOR THIS.... Tommy John's daughter.... married to the chicago bears long snapper.... THE PAT MANNELLY....the man with the marvelous hands who snaps the ball in situations where distance is a must. we must get him to broadcast... we must.

pretty good deal for them it appears... although the last cubs pitching prospect who was traded to FLA.... well he goes by the name of Dontrelle Willis.... but he fills a big need for them... good move by hendry

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) The Babchuk callups seems to be due to a.) Aucoin's bad groin and b.) Simpson's sucky-ness. I hope with Ellison gone, Keith gets more time at the point on the power play. He and Aucoin seem like the only two reliable defensemen on the PP, with Seabrook coming in at a close third. I'm just saying -- I'd much rather have a Bryan Berard at this point than Simpson, or even Cullimore. Oh well... Cullimore is bad for the new NHL.... real big... bad footwork.... not very fast, he likes to hold an awful lot... put his team behind the 8ball Simpson hasn't been anything special, but he's fills a spot and does his job Bryan Berard is currently 739th in the league with a -16 plus/minus rating... i liked bryan's offensive game alot... but my god, he doesnt take defensive responsibility serious at all.... he'd be good for a team if he ONLY PLAYED ON THE PP. Sharp is a player ive heard of once or twice, and he seemingly just never got a full shot in he NHL.... I think the move is pretty much a wash... i think Sharp is alot like Ellison, hopefully with a little softer set of hands, Elly couldn't finish on alot of his scoring opportunites. I think Hilbert and Sharp both add some young depth at the Center position (althought Hilbert is playing LW currently) and on this team could be top 2 liners... because we lack tons of offensive talent

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) How long are players usually out with a concussion? depends.... symptoms can linger for a weeks afterwords.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) I think Ben Gordon and Tim Thomas could get the Bulls something pretty damn good. I still would love to put together a package to get KG including those two players and than some. I just don't know whose available via trade. I'd love a good center, but I don't know of any on the block. don't forget that we have two 1st round picks and two 2nd round picks.... im sure that Paxon wouldnt be totally against trading some of those in return for some veteran talent.
-
I think Paxon likes his starting backcourt the way it is, ditto with Skiles... i think ur gonna see Ben get traded, he's really not a typical skiles player... i love ben, but Hammerhead is right, he's hurt the team at times this year.

Bears might take look at Price, or might not
MurcieOne replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) The only snag is that after the season is over, we wouldnt really need him with bradley coming back next year. Thats true, i like Bradley alot... but can you ever really have enough GOOD WR's? I mean how good would it look to have Price on one side, Moose on the other and Bradley in the slot or some combination of that? Just more options for the 2 young qbs on this team.... maybe we dont have to draft a WR high in the draft then also... -
QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 03:12 AM) Honestly, I believe that the next game vs. Pittsburgh will show the Bears that they need to bench Orton in favor of Grossman. If you want me to make predictions like i did for the Sox in the playoffs i will.... we both know how those went! im pretty sure i said we'd lose 1 game? Is that correct Knightni?

1 thing people may not have noticed... and again this is coming from Rex's biggest fan... i've seen him a few times on the sidelines... and he looks chubby (not the same chubby as i get in my pants when i see him, mind you) and im not sure if he really is "ready to play"
-
As Rex Grossmans biggest fan... im not sure i can be totally biased in my comments.... however, allow me to try I think no matter who this team puts in at qb... they're going to be expected to manage the game... this formula has us on an 8-game winning streak and it would be silly to try and go out and get into a fire fight when were wielding only a cap gun. If Rex magically gets on the field at some point this year (wish i sincerely hope... yet doubt) i cant see turner or smith opening up the playbook for him either... were still gonna be run-run-run-run-run-pass. THAT BEING SAID... i think that Rex is on a bare bottom level... a more talented and more accurate passer then his rookie counterpart. all i can remember is how amazing i felt after watching him connect with Moose in the HOF game way back in august. Basically... i believe that once Healthy Rex gives you a better chance of maximizing what pass plays we do run... because he can make the throws that Kyle has shown unable at this point in his career. However, either way... this offense is not going to be much better because systematically.... were not engineered for the BIG play and we wont because we dont have to be... and because Kyle cant make the throws, and Rex isnt healthy enough to prove that he can. In my heart i want Rex on the field (which i believe that he will be come game 1 of 06/07.... unless the wind blows too hard) but im not gonna argue if KO is still the QB come playoff time, because i cant see it bettering the team enormously.

"Hello it is me, Freddy Mercury. I joking, he die of AIDS. It me Borat, I not a la la loo lee. The only sex disease I ever have is gonoreah. 15 times! The ladies like Borat!" I'd actually really like to see them in concert.... i still get shivers when i hear Bohemian Rhapsody, We are the Champions etc...
