This is starting to remind me of the summer of 2003

...and to think, these f***tards known as the Royals traded Dye for Neifi Perez.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pot is essentially alcohol that can be more-readily grown at home and doesn't have the negative physical side-effects. The result is that it's very easy to abuse... and would likely be very widely-abused if it were legalized. At the very least, a surge in the number of traffic-related deaths from driving under the influence would occur. If it is so easy to grow at home, why aren't more people growing it now? Why do you care what someone does in their personal life at home? I agree completely people shouldn't get f***ed up and drive on the road (even though idiots claim pot makes them better drivers,) but how is that situation any different compared to now where people can get f***ed up on alochol or abuse other substances that are even more easily attainable like super glue, paint thinner, or nail polish remover? If pot were to become legal, they should do like Canada and punish growers BIG TIME. If I had control of the laws, I'd make possesion of one plant a mandatory jail term, and depending on the size and/or number of the plant(s) I'd enforce prison terms for possible tax evation. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 08:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have never smoked the stuff so maybe my views are out of step and naive, but it seems to me that most of the problems would be solved by legalizing marijuana. It would stop being a "gateway" and the quality should increase, avoiding the poisons that reportedly have been introduced. We could lower enforcement costs and increase taxes. I don't see a downside besides the usual ones that are also shared by alcohol and cigarettes. It so stupid to call pot a gateway drug. What % of people have used alcohol and/or tobacco before using any kind of drug? How come those are never called "gateway" drugs? Oh right, because we collect taxes on them and they are legal. It's also important to mention how much money will be lost by the big time drug dealers if their product became more easily attainable. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 08:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Unfortunately for you the Supreme Court sided with the federal government in an 8-0 decision upholding federal statuates making marijuana illegal so in spite of that law it is still illegal in Alaska as well as the rest of the country by virtue of federal law. How is this unfortunate for me? I don't smoke it, sell it, or live in Alaska. From your good friends at the ACLU : http://www.aclu.org/drugpolicy/decrim/26119prs20060711.html Back to the actual subject, why are some of you in favor of using the American's tax dollars to lock up an illegal immigrant (I'm sure Joe is only going to profile mexicans as well,) yet flip out at the idea of using our tax dollars to provide them with health care or living assistance? Personally I think they should be deported, and not prosecuted under our system. This would be a complete waste of time and tax dollars. Find those serial killers yet Joe? -

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ive seen polls where allowing medical marijuana garnered some fairly decent support but de-criminalizing all narcotics like LCR was talking about will never fly in this country. Ever hear of a state called Alaska? Althought all narcotics are not unbanned, possessing a small amount of pot is legal. Like you said, if people really wanted to legalize pot, they would. -
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great job Neal. At least Vazquez was decent. I can see why Ozzie was hesitant. Cotts did not pitch well that last inning. Why not bring in Riske to face Lopez? I thought riske was going to be the first to go after Javy today?
-
This 6th inning is so fishing stupid. If you're going to build Javy's confidence you're going to do it by letting him pitch out out of his struggles, or put him in a position to win or at least not lose the ballgame. Ozzie did that with McCarthy last year against the Cubs, and now the worst possible has happened. Bullpen order of confidence: Jenks Thornton Macdougal Riske (as long as it's not close and in the 8th) McCarthy Cotts.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> is it just me or is vaz getting squeezed a little? see my post about the outside corner. Chen hangs a floater up there about 6 inches off and the ump gives it to him.
-
QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pk looks like he is not seeing the ball very well right now

So Chen's hanging breaking ball gets the outside edge yet Javy's fastball doesn't?
-
That was soooooooo weak, but my fantasy team appreciates it.

QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How? Nah, it seems like everytime I see a runner go on us, the batter gets a hit.
-
....and of course the hit and run works .......and of course Mack can't make the play. God is this getting old
-
fish I hate Roberts. He's killed us since getting those stupid contacts. Close call.
-
That was nasty. How about some more innings like that plz?

QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Henry was the Yankees first rounder in 2005, and I have no clue who the other guy is. The Yankees are picking up both contracts though completely. It's not that bad a deal for the Phillies. If I were a Phils fan, I'd be pretty pissed off. It's obvious that the managment is cutting payroll, yet they did it after giving us $22 million. I wonder which A-Baller they'll dump Lieber for.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Our pitchers coughed up the lead? That never happens. That lead-off walk scored? That rarely happens either.... The lead-off walk didn't score.

QUOTE(minors @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 01:15 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Read the last portion of the article if they don't like the punishment then don't come back it is really that simple. But some leftist's seem to think that we should coddle these thugs and treat them like they should be. Why do these thugs deserve better treatment than our soliders in Iraq? And I am sure Joe is working as hard as he can to kind these serial thugs so they can get there injections and join tookie and the rest of the murdering thugs. You mean " Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders?" That's just a random thought. Maybe there would be, maybe there would be no change. Do you really think a the last thought a murderer has going through his/her head is "Wait, should I really kill this person. I mean, is the crime worth wearing the pink underwear?" QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I which every county in the USA had a sheriff like this guy. Jail time is not supposed to be a pleasant experience. One who violates constitutional rights and taxpayers' money on settling lawsuits while more important crimes, like the one BHAM has been keep track of, continue to go on. Just what was the jail like before Sheriff Joe? Did each inmate have his own TV, pot of coffee, hot tub, queen size bed or cable box? I read some of the stuff he does, and I'm not aware of what all jails and prisons are like, but that stuff seems pretty reasonable. Cook county banned smoking a couple years ago, so that's noting special. Crap like brain washing inmates with Newt's lectures and making anti-democrat statements that you, minors and NUKE just love to get high on, along with charging inmates for dinner (what if they can't afford it? Is Joe going to let them die? Oh right, that homeless guy who was locked up for shoplifting deserves to starve to death because he's a "thug." ) is completely stupid and embarrasing to the public. Hey Joe, find those serial killers yet? -
