spiff, I was just going to post how good Soriano would've looked with runners on 1st and 3rd with two outs, but it turns out he has a sub .200 BA when there's a runner in scoring position with two outs.

Podsednik hasn't stolen a base in the second half and he has a line of: .242/.306/.455. We need OBP from him. As for Javy last night, I didn't think he should have been in the 7th after the crowd got all over him, but I had no problems with him in the 6th. As I posted in another thread, Vazquez through 6 innings had a line very similar to Josh Beckett last night. The difference was Beckett was getting run support and was the winner .

I don't get it. Flash says our farm system sucks before we make any trades, then he whines about trading away our precious farm system when the trade is made. Last time I checked, the only free agent to be pitcher on the Sox is David Riske. After 2007 it's Buehrle (Not too sure what Thornton's contract status is.) It was mentioned KW was looking to to trade Garcia this past offseason, so why not move one of Garland/Vazquez/Garcia for a younger pitcher and some precious prospects, bring back Riske and/or sign another arm. I'd much rather have Macdougal through 2009 than Gordon and his $13 million comittment through 2008. Why wasn't Haeger mentioned in the second post? Going into 2007: Buehrle Contreras Garland Garcia Vazquez Jenks Macdougal Cotts Thornton McCarthy Riske Seriously. Look at how long we control all of those arms and tell me why I should give two spiffs on how trading pitching prospects is a bad idea to when we might have to fill possibly 1, ONE hole. (Which can be done by re-signing Riske)

6 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 3 ER, 4 K's, 1 HR. That was Beckett's outing 6 IP, 6 H, 1 BB, 3 ER, 4 K's, 2 HR. That was Vazquez's outing after the 6th when people were throwing him under the bus and thought he should be pulled. Amazing how much that "run support" thing can help a pitcher eh?

Hmm, after getting blown away by Oakland in his first start, he is shutting them down. Getting 7 runs of support doesn't hurt either.

In addition to #1, I'm not sure why he told the press he'd pull Vazquez in the 5th or 6th if he felt he was putting himself in a position to not win the game. He's 0/2 by my count since he made that claim during the previous Cubs-Sox series.
