  1. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thoughts on Henry Blanco since he's been brought up in this thread ... He can shut down the running game, or at least deter it. Personally I wanted them to sign this guy when he was a FA. Still not sure why the Cubs would help out the White Sox and the Sox wouldn't want to give up too much for a pending FA - I think Blanco's contract expires at year's end. As for his game calling ability, I haven't seen too many good ones these past two years, maybe it's the pitchers he has to work with? Could be Widger's problem too. Jim, Blanco is the a FA to be which makes it more ideal to bring up Stewart next year rather than to try and throw him in the mix right now. Maddux, Prior, and Zambrano all pitch a hell of alot better with Blanco over Barrett and I have seen signs of frustrations between Prior and Barrett and Maddux and Barrett when they have a rough outing. Zambrano pitched very well today. Did you happen to see who was behind the plate? Blanco has caught Maddux in a couple of stints, the Braves' staffs, Santana, Radke, and Prior just to name a few, but how much success can those pitchers atttribute to Blanco? I'm not saying Blanco is solely responsible for their success, but there certainly is a connection. Why would the Cubs help out the Sox? Chin Hendry said he'd trade all free agents to be (hence the Maddux rumors, Williamson, Walker, and Pierre rumors.) How many other contending teams wish to upgrade for their backup catcher? QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 04:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Henry Blanco (the crappy hitter who calls a good game) is now batting 36 points higher than Chris Widger (the crappy hitter who calls a bad game). I think it's more important to look at their LHP splits because that how Ozzie would most likely like to play them. I think after today, Blanco has twice the OPS as Widger against LHP.
  2. QUOTE(shoota @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 07:51 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quality post. :rolly WHERE'S OUR BABE RUTH FOR CASH CONSIDERATIONS???
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah I always knew the person who said they had a source Tracey would never play for the sox was a bunch of bs. It didnt make sense at all..... Im not saying the poster is a liar im just saying his source is garbage. Fathom, care to comment?
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We can't evaluate that deal overall until we see the key part of it...Andy Marte. The Indians were suppose to win this year. Unless Shapiro secretly wanted to try and rebuild and not go for the gold this year, that was a very bad trade. (Crisp, Riske, Bard for Shoppach, Mota, Marte, and Riske)
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kyle has about 2 inches and 50 pounds on his brother and from what I remember Kyle's also got about 6-8 MPH on him. How can these two be brothers if they were born 6 months apart? Do they have the same dad? (Which could explain why Kyle is such a skirt chaser )
  6. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Gooch /= a leadoff hitter It just doesnt fit. AaRow can stay in Philly...if we get a new LFer, he damn better be able to leadoff in the order too. This is big Xbox thinking here, but if the Sox were able to get Abreu to replace Pods, would you honestly be too worried about a "true" leadoff hitter?
  7. Getting Jason Johnson, Jason Michaels, and Mota for Riske, Crisp, and Rhodes really help pushed their team to the next level. Shapiro of GM of the year!
  8. Something just doesn't sound right about trading a SP for a reliever. I dunno. I don't know what Garcia's problem is, but I still don't think he's pitching as bad as the overall numbers look. Vazquez really, really, really needs to avoid the big inning. It's so Annoying. Garland isn't going to waive his NTC. You can't trade Buehrle even with his recent struggles.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> After our performance against the AL East this year, people are going to start saying we're overrated. And they might be right. The only AL East team we've been any good against is the Orioles. I don't give two s***s about people's opinions anymore. Just give me results.
  10. Crobsy is a f***ing Sox killer. I remember him doing that s*** to us back in April of 2004
  11. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jenks and Turnbow. If they had kept those guys, the Angels may have had one of the best bullpens in history. Joel Peralta also looked pretty good against us last year. He was claimed by the Royals in the offseason. I think Proctor was almost traded to the White Sox for Scott Schoenweis back in July of 2004, but Scott went on the DL.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My prediction: Roberto Hernandez will be on the White Sox by Tuesday in a deal including Sean Tracey. KW makes all his moves on Wednesday. How much longer in the minors for hermy?
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 02:34 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is it possible that Cliff Politte is actually THE worst pitcher in the MLB? Jason Johnson. Remember how people said that guys career record wasn't that big of a deal because he played for the O's and D'Rays, and how he's an upgrade over Scott Elarton?
  14. .350 BA coming in......increased 8.04 ERA coming in.........increased Rehabbing Hermanson > 2006 Cliff Politte.
  15. QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> God this is f***ing ridiculous. This team looks f***ing horrible. Ozzie needs to start kicking these guys in the ass. This series is big too, I dont buy that "It's only July bulls***" We have a 5.0 game lead in the wild card, and now it's going to be 4.0. Not to mention a 4.5 game lead in the AL Central. The Tigers haven't won yet, but I won't doubt it considering they are playing worthless Kansas City later tonight.
  16. This is looking like the first inning against the Cubs with all this first pitch swinging s***.
  17. Epic Buehrle meltdown coming. *sigh* I thought the Yankees hate bunting.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> BTW hopefully at some point we stop drafting guys who can barely break a plane of glass with their fastball. Oh God. Not this argument again. Keep your radar gun. I'll take a smart pitcher who gets batters out. Well that was interesting.
  19. Does anyone else think that Aquafina encourages binge drinking (with beer of course?)
  20. QUOTE(Capn12 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 01:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thats a bulls*** call. Thats not a strike Froemming is a f***ing joke.
  21. ....and the streak of a White Sox pitcher not having a quality start with Widger behind the plate continues. Last time it happened: June 15th, Buehrle against the Rangers Time before that, Garcia against the Scrubs (a team he owns.) on May 20th Conicidence?
