I just got back from the game and all I can say is BRUTAL!!! I was in total shock that the Sunday lineup managed 7 runs tonight but naturally when we score the dirtbags in the pen ( Walker and Jizzcan in this case ) hand the lead right back to them. Walker better be on the red-eye flight to Charlotte tonight! Viz should be traded for whatever we can get for him. He's that bad.

So far I only have one book in the queue and thats: Real Money: Sane Investing in an Insane World by Jim Cramer.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) So... The manufacturing data came out today for May. It's down. HOOORRAY! LET's RALLY THE STOCK MARKET! These people are the most ass-backward people ever. I know, slow down in mfg means that the fed won't have to keep raising rates. But it's just damn funny when people will lose their jobs because the mfg sector is not expanding everyone on Wall $treet thinks it's good news. No. SS2K will back me up on this one. The market rallied smartly today becasue with manufacturing slowing somewhat that raises the possibility that the Fed will be done with its rate tightening cycle sooner rather than later and with that off their backs that gives the market a lot of room to run higher.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2005 -> 06:53 AM) I'm not surprised at all. They have been projecting this for a while now. I was just surprised that they lost by 10 percentage points. The EURO has been taking a real shellacking in the currency markets the last few weeks and this only throws gas on that fire. Its about time the dollar started rallying.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 28, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Just slippin’ on by on LSD, Friday night trouble bound Aliota Haynes and Jeromiah. Great Song!

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) We need to be 7+ games out in front at the break before I start to really know it's gonna happen. That's about where we were mid-season in 2000 and you just knew the division was ours. I dont feel that any lead is safe against them. They are just that pesty and they always finish strongly.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:16 PM) Now hopefully El Duque comes back strong, and Garland gets back to his original stuff I'm going to each of the next 2 games so here's hoping the Sox can run their record with me in attendance to 3-0.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Cliff Politte just finished off another solid outing in which he went 1 2/3 without allowing a baserunner. I say he should be given the 8th inning when the Sox are trying to hold a lead and get the ball to Dustin to shut the door. He's got microscopic batting averages allowed whether he's facing lefties or righties and Hermanson is the only pitcher on the team with a lower ERA. I think Politte in the 8th followed by Hermanson in the 9th would = many White Sox winners. He's certainly making a great case for it. As of late he's been nothing short of awesome while Marte has been fighting it.

Interesting stat time. Polittes last win before yesterdays game was April of 2003. Now he gets 2 in a row...............and deservedly so. Great Job Cliff!!!

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) I agree. Pods and Gooch have been consistent all year. But now we've got Rowand starting to look like 04 Rowand. Konerko's average is still low, but his power numbers are very good. Crede and Uribe are looking a little better. I still wanna see more consistency from Everett and Dye. Not to mention Frank and hopefully Ross Gload returning. That will help a ton. I agree with all you said except for Crede. Yeah he had the dinger today but this last month his average has been falling like a stone. He needs to get his s*** together and start hitting. Uribe has been terrible lately as well but he has gotten a few big hits during the last week. -
I know there was some concern about him when he came out but all appears to be well.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) I know everyone loves the home run. But to me, that is what we need to do more of. We have the personnel that can do it, they just need to approach the plate that way. Rowand is starting to heat up because he is using his power to center and right center. I would like to see Pods LF Gooch 2b Arow CF Thomas DH Kong 1B Dead RF AJ C Cruddy 3b Uribe SS I know that Thomas loves the 3 hole and all. But Arow kills fastballs and would do great in front of Thomas. Thomas would get big time RBI opps. Its another way to keep the best part of our lineup together with our best hitter in a generation. Just a thought. I'm in total agreement with you there. No way should Kong be hitting 4th as bad as he's slumping. My only issue with your lineup is that Cruddy should be batting 9th until he starts swinging the bat consistently ( if thats even possible )

Oz says Freddy will be just fine on the postgame show.

We managed a bucket full of hits tonight and managed to put up a few runs for a change. The offense is slowly but surely coming out of it even though we have a few laggards. We need to see a lot more of what we had going on back in the 1st inning where we strung some hits together.
-
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) Nice win. Politte great game. The first scoring series where we strung a few hits together mixed some hits with speed and smartball. Very nice. Clutch Clutch hit by the Dead man. And I called it in Chat before the inning started!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 Hopefully Garcia's hammy is ok. That sequence in the 1st inning where Pods, Gooch and AROW got 3 hits in a row and we scored a couple of runs was most refreshing. I dont even recall the last time I saw that happen.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:39 PM) I think people will start to slowly realize that PK is looking for a big payday (and not the candy bar, even though he's a fat s***). Swinging for the fences so that some dumb team will give him 3 years/30 million or something like that. He's not going to get even the candy bar from this team unless he starts hitting the damn ball. -

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ May 31, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Ugh I don't think there has ever been a more frusterating best-record-in-the-MLB team. Its not even that we're not hitting the ball anymore. We have double digits in hits tonight but we can't hardly get em home. -
