QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 7, 2005 -> 10:53 AM) Does anyone know the percentage of our runs scored in the 7th inning or later this year? It seems like this year, we're within 1 or in a tie game and then the offense comes through with a few clutch hits, we take the lead, go to the bullpen and Game Over. Maybe Juggs can help me with this one but it seems to me that we always score our go-ahead runs in the 8th inning then come back and shut em down with Shingo/Hermey.

QUOTE(TLAK @ May 7, 2005 -> 06:57 AM) I have a theory on why Maryotti, Kruk, Reynolds, Phillips etal don’t know what to make of the White Sox. They really don’t report on baseball, they report on baseball stars. Sort of like these ‘People’ celebrity shows. They tell you everything about an actress’s private life and her gowns but nothing about her work. Garland’s performance has been remarkable, Iguchi’s start is certainly of interest but, on the whole, this is a group of players that are just doing their job everyday. The Sox winning run might come on a ground out in the 5th. They win the game by relentlessly making the plays for 9 innings. ESPN focuses on hero plays, like a walk off homer, to exclusion of the rest of the game. The strength of these White Sox is the rest of the game. Very good baseball, but not so good as a video clip. There is just not a lot of glitter to this team for these guys to grab hold of. No one play where a writer can wax poetic on a given player’s moral fiber. The media doesn’t know how to write about this or condense it into a 20-second clip. So they either skip the Sox or talk about Ozzie. With the White Sox the team is the star, not a couple of guys. That's an excellent theory but I think there's more to it than that. If it was all about "hero" plays then why are the Spanks & Scrubs getting all that attention? Seems to me that they are making all sorts of "Anti-hero" plays lately to snatch a defeat from the jaws of victory ( Latoya's throwaway and Payrods boot come to mind here). I think it has more to do with where they think their fan base lies and that would be on the N. Side and on the Eastern Seaboard. Lately ESPN is spending about 1/4 th 1/2 of their broadcasts whining about why the Spanks are in last place.

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ May 7, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) I'm just looking forward to if the Sox sweep the Jays the naysayers saying they've still only played one team with an above .500 (since the Jays were 3 games over coming in, hence they would be at .500 with a sweep) That would be a typical Moronatti argument. f*** em. Just pile up wins, get further and further away from the f***ing twinks and go from there.

QUOTE(El Piervizdyeguchansodnik @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:38 PM) Can anyone explain to me what was wrong with the batters box today? And also what happened in CF later in the game that Rooney and Farmio were pissed over? I was at work today and got to listen to the game a bit but have no idea what happened. I dont know about what rooney and farmer were pissed about but the home plate area was all jacked up. They had some slippery clay or something there and batters on both teams were falling and busting their ass all night long. Pretty comical really but I'm just glad nobody got hurt.

QUOTE(3E8 @ May 6, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) I like how we stole 3 bags tonight, and it should've been 4. Yeah, gooch got f***ed over on that call.

A thread like this is so pointless and stupid when we win our 6th game in a row.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 6, 2005 -> 08:50 PM) Seriously, where the f*** was Gordon? Nocioni with the open look to tie it and he misses. Of course they would go cold when it matters......no playoff experience. They'll be better next time around.

QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ May 6, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) 7-1 Twins Morneau had a HR Mauer is 4-4 with a HR I dont expect the Rays to do much against Minny. They had their chance to fatten up on the Spanks, time to get back to reality for them.

Classic call by Len Kasper... ".........and he threw it awayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy" Very Santoesque right there.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) The Cubs just lost 3-2 in the 9th. Again. Hawkins blew another save opp. The season is falling apart for the Cub because they have no closer & a weak bullpen. On the S Side it's the opposite. The Sox have 3 guys who are probably just as good as the next to close in Hermanson & Marte. But the S Side has a struggling Konerko in his last yr before FA. D Lee would give the Sox a bonified run producer & good defender at 1B for the next couple of years. All at a reasonable price below Koney's. Getting Shingo would allow the Cubs to then entertain trades with the NYY"s to get rid of Hawkins. The Cubs might be able to do a Hawkins for Karsay trade. Both had far greater success in their former leagues. Marketing wise the WSox would be giving up a player they built a theme around. Not an easy thing to do. But D Lee could make his own name on S Side as well. If the Cub think D Lee is worth more than Shingo + Koney then they can keep him & keep their losing ways as well. Why should we break up our team to help those assholes?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 6, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) He would be a good pickup if the Cubs had a closer and Latroy was the setup man. He dominated in Minnesota setting up Guardado he'd do the same on the Cubs. He can't get 3 outs in the 9th what makes anyone think he can get 3 outs in the 8th? He's clearly lost his mind being on the North Side and drinking all that kool aid.
