  1. Holy s*** thats a bad move. Konerko and Garland for a 40 something starter? How many years do you think he has left in that arm of his and who the heck is gonna hit anything for us next season if Konerko goes? Lee? Thomas? Neither of them inspire a lot of confidence in me. Bad move!
  2. Can things get any worse for this team? Just when they look like they are getting a little something together and making themselves look just a little bit less pathetic this has to happen. ARRGH!!
  3. I also believe payroll taxes like Medicare and SS would go away under this plan so you can effectively double your exemption.
  4. Once I get settled at my new assignment in January I'll certainly have X-Box live. I'll look forward to kicking your ass! :finger
  5. A lot of you aren't getting the whole deal with tax reform. People below the poverty line would be exempted from paying anything and would no longer have money withheld from their paychecks. That would be a huge boon to them. Prices would be lower across the board because businesses would have their tax burden lifted lessening the impact of any tax imposed. This has the added effect of helping to keep jobs here due to lower unit labor costs. Also foregin companies ( the japanese automakers come to mind here ) would want to locate more of their operations here. The wealthy would also pay a lot more money. Under a flat tax there would be no more deductions for anything, no more tax shelters, no more cheating the system. In other words, all those rich people and corporations that hide their money offshore would no longer benefit from that and would have to cough up extra cash for their goodies they buy. I dont believe this is something we should rush into but both sides agree that the tax code needs reform and I think it's certainly a goal worth pursuing. SS2K4 What's your take on this?
  6. Those were the days indeed. You had to buy your tickets a month out or you had no chance. Hell, the Anthem was worth the price of admission ( I used to get chills hearing the crowd roar and feeling the building shake from the noise ). Then Roenick, Belfour, Stevie Thomas, Larmer and Chelios and all the rest took the ice and usually won handily at the old barn. If the final score wasn't enough then you had Stu Grimson and Mike Peluso stirring things up in the fighting department. *sigh*
  7. LOL! I had no idea. I pulled this pic off of Fark and it sat in my pics folder for a while before until I changed over my avatar pic.
  8. This season is toast and I've heard that there is a potential to miss at least some of next season as well. The NHL is dying friends and neighbors. Even when and if it comes back it will be a shell of its former self. What a waste. At least the AHL will get somewhat better with NHL refugees.
  9. HALO Fans allow me to give you a preview. The bootleg of this game, from France of all places, made it to Korea and I had a chance to sample the game for a few days. IT'S TIGHT!!! I didnt get to play campaign mode cause I didn't own the copy and my X-Box isin't modded but multiplayer was awesome. There are almost all new maps in the game for MP but they did bring bring back "Blood Gulch and Battle Creek" under new names and with a few upgrades. The new weapons are awesome as well. NO MORE PISTOL SNIPING FROM ACROSS THE BOARD! The magnum has been totally defanged and only is effective when dual wielded with a plasma weapon at short range. The Covenant weapons rock. The sniper rifle kicks ass although you can only get off 3 quick shots before it overheats. A trained HALO sniper though can make quick work of the enemy with only 2 though. The Covenant carbine is a quality weapon for dealing with enemies at medium range with its 2x zoom and 20 round magazine. There's also the plasma pistol from last time......no change.......and there's another plasma rifle that is faster and more powerful but overheats faster as well. There's also a grenade launcher but it's almost completely worthless IMO. Human weapons are a bit different. The "Battle Rifle" takes the place of the AR and it's a 3 round burst weapon with a 36 round magazine and 2X zoom capability. Again, good for taking out enemies at medium range. Additionally there's the SMG which has a 60 round clip but the rounds are weak as hell, you need to dual wield to do any real damage. Sniper rifle and Rocket launcher are back and are no different from before except the rocket launcher cycles a bit faster. As for the controls they are exactly the same from the last game so anyone with experience in the original HALO should be able to get going pretty easily in this one. Hope this helps some of you guys.
  10. This guy's just another head in the sand moron who's bitter his side lost. Nothing like spewing invective and hate when you have no helpful ideas.
  11. Any time you lose you "suspect" foul play. get over it .......and while you're at it stop reading these leftist conspiracy theory sites.
  12. It didnt take terrorists to divide our country, look at how badly we were divided after the last election. If anything the attacks brought us together for a while. It's too bad that's gotten away from us.
  13. What does what happened in 2000 have to do with the Bush Administration's jobs record, aside from the fact that the recession started toward the end of Clinton's administration and carried over. BTW, thank you for proving my point. Seems that the only thing really holding things up during that period was a massive ramp up in defense spending.
  14. If you cant see the correlation then you're not paying attention to facts. Do you not find it somewhat odd that the period of most aggressive job loss occured right after the terrorist attacks.........or that the Dow shed 20% in the space of a week..........or that GDP growth in Q1 of FY 2002 showed a big drop? It all fits together.
  15. Hows this for proof. http://www.bus.ucf.edu/dpi/Special%20Chart...201%20Month.htm This chart shows gains and losses in U.S. non-farm payrolls in the period before during and shortly after the 9-11 attacks. In the Sep-Dec 2001 period alone the U.S. economy lost nearly 1.1 million jobs. After the dust settled though you can see a recovery beginning in the spring of 2002. The wider chart clearly shows that job growth had been stymied toward the end of the Clinton Administration and the recession that was already in progress was deepened severly by the terrorist attacks.
  16. Funny but I do seem to remember the stock market bubble bursting on Clintons watch. But that's Bush's fault too huh?
  17. Keyes is a moron. You want to talk about extremist Republicans there you have it. He's an embarassment to the party and a big reason why the Republican party is hurting badly in Illinois.
  18. My avatar is all in fun. Do you know what I do for a living or anything else about me for that matter?
  19. It's hard not to feel that way when these are the only type of people you ever hear from on your side.
  20. Personally I thought it was hysterical. In all seriousness though he's goofy.
  21. I'm just a stupid redneck, gun-toting, bible-thumping lunatic because I backed Bush remember? :rolly
  22. You have more conspiracy theories than a dog has fleas. It's getting old.
  23. Exactly why the economy was not a reason to elect Kerry.
  24. Let them do it. I hope they do it. I want them to do it. Go on leftist elite. Go on calling Republicans and anyone else who dared to disagree with you stupid and ignorant. You are accomplishing nothing but motivating our side more and digging your own grave deeper and deeper with every asinine comment like that you make.
