This whole Jessica Lynch thing makes me nauseous. She got caught in an ambush, captured and hurt pretty bad and for that I feel for her, but that's where it ends. She did not "empty her m16 into the Iraqi hordes" or do anything else that can be defined as heroic. The press got a hold of this one and blew it way out of proportion. They are giving her a bronze star for valor too ACK!! If anyone wants to make a movie about anyone they need to make one about a guy named Sergeant First Class Marshall from the 11th engineer Battalion. This stud killed over 50 Iraqis with his crew served weapon before being fatally wounded. He was credited with single handedly holding off a large dismounted Iraqi attack until reinforcements could arrive. I understand that he will be put in for the medal of honor soon, but certainly, as usual, the real heros are only known by a precious few.

One day about 10 years ago I was coming out of a burrito joint with a couple of my buddies and we were racing to the car to see who'd get "shotgun" when I slipped in a puddle of water and skidded forward on my ass about 30 feet until coming to a stop in front of a fence. Because I was now soaking wet my friends made me walk home instead of riding in the car. I still haven't lived that one down.

I just had a look at your sig & I have to admit that it gave me a chuckle. Especially the part about being "tricked into fighting Uncle Sam's Wall Street Wars". First of all, nobody gets tricked into going to fight a war. If you are in the military , like me, and your unit is called then trickery is not necessary, you have no choice but to go. The only choice you have is whether or not to join the military in the first place & nobody is ever forced to do that either. Those of us in uniform are where we are because we want to be here, not because someone "tricked" us. You are implying that somehow we are all idiots that are fooled by some slick talker wearing a white beard and a red, white and blue top hat to run off and go shoot people. I know you don't agree with the war but myself, everyone else that went with me and nearly all Americans are very proud of what we did over there and we offer no apologies.

I am going to school for communications in the fall and should be returning to the U.S. from Iraq within the next 2-3 weeks. THANK GOD I think the end is in sight. It's been 8 months and counting for me over here. I feel bad for the other guys in my unit who are stuck here till the fall at least, but there's nothing I can do about that. If I had to guess at my next time in town it looks like the second half of August. Once I do get back to Ft. Stewart I have to turn in all of my gear & do a s***load of paperwork to clear from there. Looks like I'll be home for 3 weeks or so in the end of August/early September time frame and then I plan on taking most, if not all, of December off before going to my new assignment the first of 2004. (I have over 2 months of vacation saved up). BTW, Whose hawks Jersey were you wearing in the pics at the dealership?
