  1. See what happens when you throw stuff that doesn't go straight down the plate? Batters walk back to the dugout with their heads down. Simple concept really.

  5. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 16, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) We don't collect taxes to pay for anything, we collect, or don't collect taxes to stimulate the economy. Let's cut taxes 25%, borrow a couple hundred billion from China, and get after this problem. We cut taxes to fight the war in Iraq, let's cut taxes to fix the border. Tex. That statement is every bit as silly as it is wrong. The government is in as much trouble as it is with debt because it spends money like a teenage girl at Abercrombie & Fitch. When politicians get it through their heads that we can't spend like we have been then things will improve. As Ive said a million times before........if the government can't cut back on their spending habit then they needn't bother asking me for more in taxes.
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2006 -> 03:04 PM) I've got another idea. Hire the extra border patrol and customs agents. Have half of them go after the businesses hiring illegals. Fine the s*** out of the guilty businesses to fund the department. You can call them the "Border Revenue Patrol". I'm only joking about the name - serious about the rest. Im down with that.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:52 PM) Well, at least we know you're willing to secure the border as long as someone else is willing to pay for it. Someone else? Doesn't he pay taxes also? How about the federal government get its own fiscal house in order before it comes whining to the public needing more money for another thousand bridges to nowhere?
  8. QUOTE(Cknolls @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) How about cutting 5% from entitlement programs to hire 100,000 border patrol agents? Do that and cut a couple of billion from the defense budget and you can hire all the BP agents you need as well as put up a fence that nobody could cross.
  9. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:36 PM) How would that be a fair question if I never said I supported them but a couple of you did say you were glad the minutemen brought this issue to attention? Too much has come out about the minutemen and racist ties for it to just be a coincidence. One of their leaders left for that very same reason. Funny you should mention "gringos out" when much worse things have been heard in minutemen rallies. Sources? The difficulty is that you can't use a leftist blog or website.
  10. QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:41 PM) 90's- Mike Sirotka. I have no idea why. I always liked Sirotka........especially after the 2000 campaign. Its too bad what happened to him injury wise though.
  11. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ May 16, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) What sport did he play? He played for the Bears in the 80's ( including on the '85 team ) as a safety and was pretty darn good at it also.
  12. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) So is this going to happen or not? July 6, 2005 October 12, 2005 Cheney indictment in France 2004 Cheney indictment during the election cycle Or Dick Cheney has already been secretly indicted I'll believe it when I see it. LOL! Dont hold your breath.
  13. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 16, 2006 -> 02:20 PM) So you people are in favor of the minutemen? Same ones with the ties to hate groups? I suppose then it would be a fair question to ask you if you are in favor of these Mexican seperatist groups who go around saying "Gringo's out!!!!" Trouble is that the Minutemen are nothing like the fire-breathing racists that the leftists portray them as. They are a group of concerned citizens who are tired of the Federal Government ignoring what is a huge problem in our country.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) That would be the ultimate way to stop a lot of problems in the world, but we all know better than that. Yeah. With the sheer number of s***bags in this country who are either addicted or want them for recreational use, there will always be a market for narcotics. That's an enforcement issue more than anything.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:29 PM) No NUKE. It is really great that a small band people, reviled by the leftists, were able bring the issue into focus. It is but it isin't. Shame on our elected officials for pandering to business interests and the Hispanic community for all these years and allowing this problem to fester.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:15 PM) Yup. All $25 million of that aid we give to Mexico. Cut that, and i'm sure they'll stand up and take notice. Every little bit helps. I liked SS2K5's idea for stopping illegals from wiring money home. Take their second biggest source of income ( aside from narcotics traffic ) and they'll take notice alright.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 16, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) The situation on the southern border is not a good one. But it's certainly not at a turning point or expecting abrupt change or deterioration. If we did absolutely nothing right now, what would happen? The same number of immigrants who snuck across last week would sneak across this week. And so on through the end of the year, with only a little bit of variance. If you expected that in 1 week, 10x that number would try to cross, ok, that would be a turning point, and a crisis. But right now, the situation is at least stable. It's not stable in a good way, but it's not getting dramatically worse. Of course, the situation is not good, and it is time to do something about it in terms of legislation. Guest worker program allowing a path to citizenship, increased enforcment against businesses hiring illegals, a program to register those who are already here, and criminalizing future illegal immigration would be logical steps. But anywho, it's certianly not a crisis. A crisis will be what happens when there's an earthquake in San Francisco or L.A. and the California National Guard is 1/2 in Iraq and 1/3 sitting along the southern border with 95% of it's equipment gone. Using your own defenition of a crisis the situation on the border certainly fits. The immigration debate has been brewing for years and years and the Minutemen protests starting last year and that are ongoing have made this issue a center of attention. That and the fact that the country is being overrun by literally millions of people WHO DONT f***ING BELONG HERE!!!!!!! Illegal aliens have taxed state budgets to the breaking point. They cost states billions of dollars a year in services and provide next to nothing in return. Add to that the crime and general lawlessness caused by their presence on the border. Families living and working all along the border are constantly terrorized and made victims of crime committed by these border jumpers and they're fed up with it. See above point in reference to residents of border areas. Make no mistake, this has been a long conflict and its really sad that it took a small band of people, reviled by the leftist bleeding hearts, to bring this issue into focus and get the government to take concrete action to deal with the problem. The people aren't going to stand for thousands of border jumpers streaming across the frontier anymore. They want action. Now on to your National Guard thesis. Currently, the National Guard has 456,800 men and women under arms. Of that number there are about 71,000 mobilized currently. That's not even 20% of the force. This according to the Chief of the National Guard Bureau. http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/nationwor...world-headlines If you had paid attention to the plan put forth by Bush you would also have caught the little detail that Guard members would be pulled from ALL states and not just from the border states.
  18. 80's: Had to have been Kitty and Fisk. Kitty's moonshots were my first memory of White Sox baseball. 90's: Black Jack and Robin Ventura. There were a couple of others but those 2 were just the s***. 2000's: Burly-Mon and Kong.......Thome's making his way to the top if the list as well though.

  20. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 16, 2006 -> 11:44 AM) http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1631888/posts PENDLETON, ORE. - Out of ideas and low on cash one cold morning, the man with the biggest badge in town put his meaty fingers on a keyboard and tapped out a letter to the leader of Mexico. More at link If the federal government had any stones it would take all the monies wasted on services for these people out of their foregin aid money. As with business, the surest way to change bad behavior is to hit them in the wallet.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ May 16, 2006 -> 06:11 AM) You do realize these are people's backyards they are patrolling. Perhaps you would enjoy living in a military zone, many of us on the border would prefer a different approach. These people you refer to are ranchers who have been victimized by illegals for years and years. They will welcome the increased border presence by the government and have been calling for it forever and a day.
  22. QUOTE(mr_genius @ May 15, 2006 -> 11:01 PM) haha, cuck the schlubs or whatever his name is = totally obsessed the cubs suck and are a non-factor. who cares what they do? not me I care what happens to them. Laughing at their misery is almost as much fun as watching our Sox inflict misery and force feed s*** to other teams.
  23. Stu Grimson......one of my favorite ex-hawk players......wore 23 when he was with the team in the early 90's.
