Kotsay bailed him out, thank god.

Ozzie looks like he's passing a stone.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:25 PM) I speed in the outfield I was gonna say, I've never been so happy to have Pods in left.

Contreras got effed in the eh on that call. Swing or not, it was over the plate.
-
Need a K/pop-up bad.

Why does every "Moneyball" guy look exactly the same? Moderately tall, somewhat athletic left-handed hitting white guy with longer hair. They must have at least 7 of them.

QUOTE(brijames @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) How many runs win this game guys? I say 4 4 is a good call, I'll say 5 for diversity's sake.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:53 PM) That's Danica Patrick's excuse. That was the root of my thinking.

Best race car driver - Willie Harris (he's light-weight)

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew

The noisemaker might actually be screwing up the A's hitters more than Contreras. But if I was in the guy's section I'd tell him to knock it off.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Yeah, but do you realize how many runs this team could score per game if Uribe could just find what he had the first 2 or 3 months las tyear? I do, but until it happens I'm happy with the amount of runs he saves per game.
-
Uribe's swing is like Happy Gilmore's golf swing. But I don't care cause he plays a hell of a shortstop.
-
And Jennie Finch has pitched a no-hitter!

I have confidence in Apu (or whoever) to pick a non-crap book. I like the idea cause I've been trying to read a book but I never have the motivation to go pick it up.

Funny stuff. McSweeney's is a quality site, I've read a few other stories there.

QUOTE(zach23 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) I was at this game and that was when the Rowand's Rowdies came down and wanted to fight the Aaron's Amigos over who was the better fan group. The most idiotic s*** I have ever seen at a baseball game. If this guy is one of the Rowdies, he must be a dumbass, because that was my impression of those guys that night. That's tremendous.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) It's pretty f***ing sad when I feel like I'm in the minority for ENJOYING a 53-24 team. You probably feel like you're in the minority, but I don't think you are. It's just that the ones who don't seem to enjoy it are the loudest.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) I understand that stats are not the end all be all of baseball but are they not an indicator of what is going on? To supposedly have a lot of speed in your lineup with Podsednik, Iguchi, Rowand, and Uribe, and still being ranked last in doubles and triples in the MLB shows something is going on. Doesn't it? I'm not saying that all of those guys are swinging for the fences but I do think that the rest of the lineup is. Also, demeaning someone about their baseball knowledge when you are having a simple discussion doesn't strengthen your argument. Alright genius, if doubles are such a blatant indicator of success, tell me why the records of the teams who are the top 7 and bottom 7 in doubles look like this? Rank in doubles-Team-Record 1 boston 45-32 2 reds 30-47 3 brewers 36-42 4 cubs 40-37 5 d-backs 39-41 6 orioles 43-35 7 giants 33-44 ...................... 24 st louis 49-29 25 san diego 43-36 26 minnesota 42-34 27 dodgers 37-41 28 tigers 36-39 29 phillies 40-39 30 white sox 53-24

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 1, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) No one will change your mind, but every few days I find the need to say that a few of you use this board as your personal frustration dumping ground, and there are other people who have grown tired of it. Nothing personal but IMO you guys jump to conclusions as if you know more than the coaching staff. I agree with everything else you said, but this is the most important part I think. When Jason created this board he wasn't thinking, gee I'd like to make a place where people could just bash everything the Sox do or don't do everyday while other people actually try and have meaningful discussions. I only read a few posts in the game thread (which is more than I've probably read in a few weeks combined) and they were ridiculous. People b****ing about how this team sucks and the best record is a fluke and we can't hit s***ty pitching etc. ENOUGH. The constant negativity of a few people on this board has ruined the game threads to the point where I don't even like to read them anymore. Instead of interesting discussion on the best team in baseball we get "They suck, all they do is swing for the fences" "Here comes Shingo to f*** it up" "Ozzie is an idiot for not putting in (player x)". I'm f***ing tired of it. You kiddies want to b**** about everything on the internet, go make a livejournal.

I'm amazed that anyone can find something to whine and complain about after a road divisional sweep for the best team in baseball, when tonight's game is still over 10 hours from beginning. Some people around here are truly talented in that respect.

I started the game thread yesterday and we cruised to an easy win, why not do it again? QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) Is this all on TWIB? Where did these random thoughts come from, Jack Handy? Yeah they had a story about all the people who have sang Take Me Out...at the Cubs game. As a side, ESPN has the 1996 Home Run Derby, with the 1997 to follow.
-
The only mention of the Sox in this TWIB is AJ's walkoff against LA.
