The only time I mix beer is for Car Bombs; a pint of Guinness, drop a shot of Jamison/Bailey's in there and drink it as fast as you can.

QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) American superband, huh? Not neccessarily rock? How about Alabama? 40+ Number one singles! Just saying. Where is Led Zeppelin from? Zep is from England.

He would, but what I'm saying is that networks are afraid of him because he's smarter than 95% of the population and he's not afraid to show it. They like tools like Joe Theismann and Bill Walton. We all saw how the general public responded to Dennis Miller. If you're not appealing to the lowest common denominator when it comes to sports, you're labeled as "too smart", whatever that means.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:08 PM) LYNYRD SKYNYRD End of Story. Had Van Zant not gone down in flames theyd have been huge. Jimi Hendrix too. AC/DC. Jesus guys. Jimi Hendrix, for all intents and purposes, was a solo artist. AC/DC was from Australia. So "Jesus" yourself.

QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) Once again Fair = both sides get to talk, Balanced = equal time. That's all they ever claimed. They never said they aren't entitled to thier own opinion. Given that Murdoch is Mr Conservative it should come as no surprise to those watching what that opinion is. Now if you claim they repeatedly deny the other side the right to talk or don't give the other side equal time then you have a legitimate claim they are not living up to their motto. As for Oberman he is sorely missed on Sportscenter. He was a far better entertainer of news then the people they have now. Keith was a natural where the guys now always seem to be forcing a joke out. I am shocked by those ratings. Maybe Keith will go back to ESPN soon. MSNBC is getting trounced. As much as I'd like Olberman back on Sportscenter, 1) he burned too many bridges when he left and 2) he is way too much of a personality to be on sportscenter. ESPN makes sure that as soon as their anchors develop any sort of personality are off the show, so that if they do leave it won't be devistating. Hence the Stan Verretts and Scott Reeses of the world.

Ramones, Lifetime, Green Day (as much as they piss me off nowadays), you can see where my roots are Edit: mine aren't really the most popular or successful bands of all time but ones who influenced culture and music a whole lot. Quintessential American bands that defined their genre.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:44 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2115697 Good lord the Pacers are looking good. They might be the deepest, most versatile team in the league. For those who don't know much about Jasikevicius, he's got shooting, ballhandling, and passing skills that rival Steve Nash. And Like Nash, he's also a matador defender. But overall, this is a very good signing by the Pacers. If Artest can stop acting like a fool and just play basketball, this might be the best team in the east. I think you may be overrating him a bit, comparing him to Steve Nash. If his skills rivaled Nash, he would be starting. I remember him from Maryland; he was good, but not spectacular.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) f***, Pods running the bases is like every Crede, PK, and Uribe hitting. He is a streaky f***ing base stealer. Castillo just has a quick release and a solid arm. -
QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) Celeb Fit Club 2! Hellz yeah! I loved Willie Aames going to Busey's house for the exercise session and how scared he was about going. Yeah that was good stuff, I could see him being hesitant but Busey is the man. Their team is totally gonna win, especially with Jani going AWOL already.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) No Joe?? No Aaron??? No Gooch??? What is this? The 3rd game of the series?? Couple of lefties, and Joe needs more rest I guess. -
I'm not a fan, and it's not any moral reason, I just think it's boring. I'll take Celebrity Fit Club 2 or Surreal Life any day.

Holy f***, I thought I could pretty much deal with any story but that's retarculous. I thought I was gonna faint.

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) my god, that song is in NCAA and is quite possibly, the most annoying, screeching song of all time well it all depends on whether you're a fan of indie noise rock. i am so i like it.

3 days until we are officially supposed to be done with this book but I start the thread now just because I've never finished an assignment three hours early, nevermind three days early. And the thing is, even though I bought it right after it was suggested, I didn't even start it til about last Friday because I was finishing another book. I really enjoyed it because it was deep without trying to be deep. It didn't pretend to be any kind of panacea (like Branson's 'Very Common Prayer' book). It just told a story. And at first, when it was boring, I was wondering what I had gotten myself into. But as the pages counted down (something I think every book should do) the story got wider and deeper and more enthralling. The last 50 pages especially were filled with a lot of good quotes, none of which I can recall at present. I almost said f*** it, and didn't read it just because I hated Fight Club (the movie) so much. But this book turned out to be what Fight Club wishes it could be. No stupid surprise ending, no fooling the audience to appear somehow smarter. Just a plain story where you draw your own conclusions.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) Jazz 1. Thelonious Monk 2. Django Rheinhardt 3. Gene Ammons 4. Jack McDuff 5. Charlie Parker Blues 1. Muddy Waters 2. B. B. King 3. Lightning Hopkins 4. T Bone Walker 5. Elmore James Rock 1. Eric Clapton 2. Doors 3. Animals 4. Led Zepellin 5. Rolling Stones I'm over 50 so flame away. These are three favorite genres and my 5 favorite artists in each genre. Music has kept me from losing it at times and any criticism of an old man's choices are matched up against all the pleasure and good times the music has given me. I don't know what there is to flame. The artists on that list that I've heard, and I'm talking mostly about the rock group here, they are quality. And really I don't think about these threads as having to defend your choices so much as showing people what you're about and what has made you who you are today.

I wish I could say I'd handle it, cause I wanna, but I have a feeling I'd let everyone down ala last year.

Breakdown of everyone's chances -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:27 AM) You know oddly it seemed to matter so much that they changed the face of the team. Because scoring runs has been a difficult thing for this team. But then again it seems that scoring runs has never been a problem. In fact Ozzie wanted to change this team around because Scoring runs was a bad stat. KW wanted grinders on this team because the home run or nothing score 10 the one night and then get 3 hit by a no nothing the other night was bad. 2004 3rd in the league in runs scored. 1st in homers 2003 8th in runs scored 4th in homers 2002 3rd in the league in runs scored 3rd in homers And don't forget all those division titles we won the last three years.
