They're getting a little too creative with the camera angles. Blimp shot on a fly ball = hard to follow.

you get the i-pod mini or i-pod shuffle?

Losman would have been the #1 pick in the draft this year. As it was, he was drafted higher than Orton. I would still say he's better.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 12:52 PM) Justin Zwick is SO OVERRATED I didn't know he was highly rated to begin with. When I watched the spring practice he threw like a girl; even that touchdown to Holmes was wobbly. -
YOU AND I BOTH KNOW THAT IS A MATHEMATICAL IMPOSSIBILITY

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) I wish I can understand the reasoning of any person who insists relief efforts were dragging due to 'George Bush not caring about black people.' As if he held reserve in sending National Guard Troops because those left behind weren't white and middle class. Kanye West's words, which probably hold more value to New Orleans residents than George Bush's, could only heighten tensions among policemen/relief workers/other citizens. Idiot should continue writing about his car crash and less about critizing our president for apparently ignoring blacks. When in modern history has there been a natural disaster of this magnitude on American soil? Without the flooding it would have been desvastating--with the addition it far exceeds the damage of Hurricane Andrew. Obviously, FEMA, New Orleans itself, and other relief agencies were not prepared for the devastation Katrina would leave. Mistakes have surely been made and need to be appropriately addressed in the event of a similiar large scale disaster. Kanye's comments are no different than any neoconservative suggesting every natural disaster in the Middle East or Indonesia is the work of God. It's the type of ignorance which embarrasses you just listening to it. I was just going to say what you said. The first two paragraphs are especially the point. I think wino is right too about any discrimination being rooted more in wealth than race. The whole thing is a wake up call I think when it comes to this country's economics. The extreme capitalism I suspect is a driving force behind more than we'd all like to admit, and I suspect it had a lot to do with Bush being re-elected. But there's no way I can sit here and believe the man somehow held aid back from the hurricane victims just because they were black. If I did, I would be on the next train to Canada.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:38 PM) Really? Show me the last team that was built around defense and lost it's leader on defense, and both of it's coordinators, and still succeeded in the following years. Going by the history of the NFL, they're going to slip into mediocrity, and likely even worse. I seem to remember a Patriots team who was built around defense and cut their leader on defense (Lawyer Milloy) the day before the season started. But I can't remember how they did.....oh yeah they finished the season with 15 straight wins and a Super Bowl. This team is built upon the philosophy that everyone is replaceable. They may not win 14 again but to say they're not upper-tier coming off 3 Super Bowls in 4 years is ridiculous. Those other teams that dominated didn't have free agency (except for Dallas, but it was just beginning) to replace their aging vets like the Patriots do.

QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) I disagree with this. New England might not even be in the top tier of playoff teams this year. Well there goes your credibility.

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Schweigert...now there's a guy who could bust out this year. Looking at their schedule, there is a good chance that they can go 1-7 or 0-8 on the road this year. @ New England @ Philadelphia @ Tennessee @ Kansas City @ Washington @ San Diego @ New York Jets @ Denver As if the road games within their division weren't difficult enough, they have to go into New England, Philadelphia, and NY. Brutal. They'll probably repeat last year's 2-6 road record. I think Washington is a win, and Tennessee is beatable. But it doesn't look good for them. On the plus side they do get teams like Dallas, Miami, Cleveland and the Giants at home.
-
Pretty sure the Raiders are going back to a 4-3. They have bad linebackers but I really like the way Schweigert plays.

Are you saying you don't believe in Gary Brackett and Donald Stickland?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:10 AM) I think I saw Pelican about a year ago open for someone else at The Bottom Longue. Are they purely instrumental?? Where'd you find their latest record? Yeah they're purely instrumental, I found it at Newbury Comics. Any mid-sized record store should have it.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I dar anyone to question the Bears D: On 26 possessions in the preseason, the Bears' No. 1 defense gave up just one TD. 1) I read an article in AP about Ian Curtis's last days a few months ago. Really chilling stuff, comments from the band about how they didn't have any idea what was going on with him. I don't care if Joy Division/New Order gets a ton of pub, they spawned a whole (latent) generation of imitators. 2) Pelican - The fire in our throats will beckon the thaw = awesome album.

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) Losing 2 guards is losing all of your O-Line? They kept their two great tackles and get their pro bowl center back from injury. However, I guess 2 guys make an offensive line these days? As far as defense, I think that the Pack D will be much improved this year. They will be a bend but don't break type of D. I really think Jim Bates can help turn them around. From what I have seen in the pre-season they have had much more sure tackling, played more physically and looked more organized overall. They have not given up a big play pretty much the whole pre-season. I think most Dolphin fans can attest to how good Bates is and how much is coaching and preparation can help turn a D around. However, that is just my opinion. They just got b****-slapped by the Patriots in all facets of the game, and they have been outscored 54-10 the last two preseason games. I wouldn't exactly call that encouraging.

QUOTE(bighurt4444 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 07:10 PM) Let's look at the stats. These stats are rankings for left fielders in the AL. Scott is last in homers, 7th in runs scored, 9th in batting average, last in slugging percentage, last in triples, 17th in the RBI (which means there are backup left fielders with more RBI's). So now you tell me if those stats deserve to be an All Star? No they don't. Is Scotty overrated, yes. He does steal a lot of bases, but that means nothing if you don't score. I would take 7 other left fielders in the AL before Scotty. Ramirez, Matsui, Anderson, Crawford, Mench, Crisp, and Stewart. If you are looking for offense, Scotty is not the man. Sorry, but the facts back it up. Podsednik is overrated. Do you realize that corner outfielder is usually a power position? It's just because we already had Rowand that Pods is in left. When you compare him to freaking Ramirez, Matsui, etc obviously he's going to be lower in slugging percentage and homers; who gives a s***. You are comparing a prototype centerfielder to a bunch of left fielders. Did you not notice that as soon as he got hurt we went on a huge losing streak? Do you understand baseball at all?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:41 AM) Well, Buehrle's not the first pitcher to get roughed up in Texas. I haven't heard any other pitchers come out in the press and basically accuse the Rangers of cheating. Buehrle's my favorite player on the Sox....but he's gotten a little too "open" in what he says to the media this year. Between this and the Cubs cheating comment he made, he's coming close to crossing the line of displaying good sportsmanship. If you think a team is cheating, the perception of sportsmanship is the last thing on your mind.
-
You focused on the one thing he can't do, which is throw the ball.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:26 AM) Yeah, there's a definite difference between having a coach on the bench trying to steal the signs, and having someone supposedly in the outfield relaying the signs to the hitter. To me, it sounds like Buehrle has a big case of Loser's Limp. This is the type of comment I'd expect to hear from Prior/Wood/Zambrano after a rough outing. No it's not loser's limp, it's pure frustration. He said he made good pitches, and somehow they knocked him around. Stop being such an ass every time a player has a bad game.
