QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 12:01 AM) So how much of that is a benefactor of being in a good system? You're gonna have a hell of a time convincing me that he'd do just as well in Buffalo or Detroit or Atlanta, or multiple other teams. I'm not saying he isn't good...I'm saying he's overrated due to being a system QB. Explain to me what a system QB is. -
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Where do we go from here? How can I "support" my favorite artist, while illegally downloading his or her music, giving absolutely nothing? Oh, I don't know, stupid s*** like concerts and t-shirts. I buy a ton of cd's because I want to support the artists I love but the great thing that mp3's and P2P has accomplished is to bring out the underground stuff and show music beyond the clear channel garbage.

Madison, why not Dyeanna? You're not a true Sox fan! Anyway, congrats dogga

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:00 AM) Hammer, I got a question for you Forgetting everything Brady has accomplished for 1 second, and putting him in a different system - is he starting somewhere with similar success? From everything I've seen of Brady, he's a good QB in the sense that he is smart with the ball, makes good throws, makes accurate throws, and is a hell of a leader on the field. He is also a money QB in that he makes the plays when he needs to, thus making him a great QB. But I also view him as a system quarterback...not really a huge knock against him, because he continues to win and put up great numbers, he's earning a good paycheck because of it, and because it's not a system that you can plug any QB into and see success right away or down the line. I just don't think he'd be near as successful anywhere else. Way to absolutely contradict yourself. He's smart, makes good throws, is a great leader, comes through in the clutch...BUT HE WOULD NEVER SUCCEED ANYWHERE ELSE. What do you think being a good quarterback is, throwing 70 times a game and having a cannon for an arm? That's really worked out for Brett Favre lately, eh? In the words of Herman Edwards, you play to win the games. The QB's job is to make sure that his team wins games. Brady does what he needs to do. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 12:15 AM) 5 from 15 from the field tonight. Gonna see a lot of those as the season goes on. Oh and Greasy if you keep shooting .500 from the 3PT line, you're my pick to win the East. Responding to a few different posts that I didn't see until now. 1) Nobody brought up Walker going for 25 & 16 the night before. 2) New Jersey is far from being a lock in the Atlantic 3) Phoenix is definitely gonna miss a beat with Amare out til March. Marion hates playing the 4, and Kurt Thomas isn't exactly the same as Amare on the fast break.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) You do have to admit...it's a little funny when a team goes wire-to-wire, absolutely dominates in the playoffs, and is agreed upon by several experts in the baseball world that this was one of the best teams in the past 25 years that they are said to be the second best team in the majors exactly one week to the day, with that 1 team being better the team in their same division. You'd think if anyone, they'd put the Yanks. You also have to admit it's not only a little funny, but it's flat out dumb to be doing this rankings 1 week after the World Series is over. The entire offseason sits in front of you, and who knows what any team is going to do at this point. Funny yes, but not distressing or aggrivating. Their April predictions are way off, we all know that, so why would anyone put stock in November rankings? I know the whole concept is so stupid, but I'm not going to go creating some conspiracy theory about how ESPN ranks teams because of how close they are to Bristol.

QUOTE(G&T @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 08:46 PM) First, you change from present to past tense in every other sentence, but that's not the issue. Props for being the only one to notice that (sometimes mid-sentence), it drove me nuts. But I don't want to be an ass about it. A little more explanation about how it affected you (GoRow) emotionally might have helped. Maybe set it up more with how them losing had gotten you down and the win made you that much happier. And the first sentence, it doesn't really mean anything.

A world series title still apparently wasn't enough for some people to stop carrying their "ESPN hates us" cross. Not talking about you Hibbard, but some of the respondees.

he made me a white sox fan back in the early nineties. he gave me a head nod during BP in san diego. its one of those things you can't really relate to anyone else but he picked me out of the crowd and for a half second there was an unspoken understanding, maybe the coolest moment of my life. just a head nod, no reason to go crazy. anyway im blabbering.

QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) I'm sorry if I was a bit graphic or blunt in the words I used, but the fact is that we have not won squat except for the Division and the Pennant. People are celebrating as if we've won something beyond that, or if we will have an easy time doing that. That's not in line with reality. If the Sox win tonight, by all means celebrate, and make threads like this. God knows I will too. But they haven't won yet. We could still easily lose this thing. Such unjustified optimism is one of my major pet peeves when it comes to baseball. Prematurely crowning themselves champions is something that other team's fans do, and I find it highly distasteful. (See 2005 Red Sox, 2004 Cubs, Yankees every year, etc.) I don't want to have to see that in my fellow Sox fans. Unjustified optimism when you're up 3-0 in the World Series and you've won 16 of 17? If that's the case, then what the f*** constitutes justified optimism?

RX Bandits are awesome by the way.

QUOTE(Wedge @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) It's a Purdue bar? Yeah, I think you're better off not kissing anything there. wicked.owned.

"At least you still have the Texans"

I can overlook a lot of things, but the fact their Nazis, well that's kind of a turn-off. This is especially funny--"We're proud of being white, we want to keep being white," said Lynx. "We want our people to stay white … we don't want to just be, you know, a big muddle. We just want to preserve our race." "We want to keep being white"?! What the f*** are you talking about?
