The Dominican lineup is RIDICULOUS. C Olivo 1B Pujols 2B Soriano 3B Aramis Ramirez SS Tejada LF Manny Ramirez CF Jose Guillen RF Vlad Guerrero DH David Ortiz Good god. The US's chance comes in pitching. Their rotation is better, but I dare anyone to shut that lineup down.

Aura and Mystique are just dancers at a nightclub. A trophy is a trophy is a trophy. You don't get a nicer one for higher attendance. So therefore, I don't really give a s***.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Zimmerman has signed as well for 2.975 million I believe. Tulowitzki, Bruce and Rasmus signed as well. Yeah I just realized I missed a few. Lemme go back and fix.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) Spiff.. if found guilty Mezz can automatically ask for bail while they appeal. The judge can grant or deny Oh yeah, with an appeal I guess it makes sense.

Apparently Jackson was late-arriving because he had to put his face on. Literally.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I heard that the judge has the right to grant him bail because he is definitely a flight risk... then they said something else but my phone rang. Do you recall what they said? I think the anchor was asking about whether they would set bail, but the correspondent said they would only read the verdict. I don't know if they'd do sentencing today if he was guilty or what, I don't think they would. But bail doesn't make sense to me. If he's guilty of something warranting jailtime he goes away in police custody. If he is guilty of the more minor charges, he goes on probation or whatever. And then if he's not guilty of everything, he goes home. Right?
-
QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) CNN calims if he's guilty on any of the charges he goes into custody immediately. Did you hear them mention bail? Because that confused the hell out of me.

Every question gets the same answer: They drafted the best available athlete. Sheesh.

Torra didn't go yet.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) I'll see what I can do. I'll have a cumulative post after the first round with every pick. Let's just do a thread for the first round, where one person (you, if you want to) updates who gets drafted. No commentary or anything, just updates.

Official NBA Playoffs Thread

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 11:53 PM) The game has slowed down considerably from those days. I remember reading an article on how there's close to 15 less possesions on offense for each team a game than there were during those times. And you have to look at expansion. Teams were so much deeper in those days. And like somebody mentioned, shooting and overall fundamentals were better at that time. We can thank Pat Riley's Knicks for that -
I don't think it matters why someone commits a given crime, which is why I don't believe in hate crime legislation. Whatever terrible acts you commit you should pay the price for, but knocking another 10 years onto the sentence for skin color won't wipe out racism.

Possible Trade Between the Royals and Angels
Spiff replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in The Diamond Club
Goddamn; a lineup with Erstad, Sweeney, Finley, Garret, and Vlad would be pretty friggin potent. Add in the table setters like Figgins and Cabrera, the power of McPherson, and the clutch hitting of Molina, and they got somethin. -
11am Central on ESPN Classic for anyone who wants to check it out.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:11 PM) Well, good thing you're not managing us then. I could say the same for you and just about everyone else in this thread who thinks they know everything about not only what is happening, but also what will happen and what should have happened.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) If we had got Politte, Marte and Hermy in the 7th, 8th and 9th, we would have won this with 6 runs on the board Bad managing, no doubt there Yeah because Politte would have been flawless pitching a third straight day, Marte hasn't struggled at all lately, and Hermanson is soooo much different when he's pitching from behind. Shut the hell up and deal with reality.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Well sometimes you just can't have both. At least if you choke in the 6th or 7th, you have time for a comeback. Cotts, Marte and Politte were all used yesterday, so that pretty much left Hermy (never was going to come in the 7th), Vizcaino or Walker. Don't you go and starting bringing logic into this

QUOTE(winodj @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Ever watch that guy on CNBC? I think he's gonna pop an artery or have a cardiac every five minutes. Is he the one who runs around the studio yelling like he hears a voice in his head?
-
He was better in May than April. 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, only 2 walks allowed in 9 innings (compared to 6 in 7 innings in April).

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Jun 1, 2005 -> 12:53 PM) Spiff, what's the title of that book? Cuz I'd like to check it out. And yeah -- HTTD&IP was pretty out there a lot of the times but there were the hilarious parts like how he got out of service in World War II after serving for a while. I think it was called Ladies and Gentlemen--Lenny Bruce!. There's a lot of detail on his childhood and stuff, interviews with his father. It was pretty good, I can't remember whether I finished it but there's some interesting stuff in there.
