  5. QUOTE (Brian @ May 21, 2009 -> 04:16 PM) AMazing what can happen, if it happens, so fast. Was at work at 6 and a guy came up and asked if I heard about it. I doubted him but as the day went on, it snowballed. Unreal. Under contract til 2012, correct? 2013 i believe, fa in 2014
  6. according to rotoworld they seem to think he will waive his no trade clause

  10. from rotoworld: MLB announced Friday that Neifi Perez has been suspended for 25 games after testing positive for a banned stimulant. The suspension is effective immediately and it sounds like the Tigers may call up Ryan Raburn to take his place on the roster. Losing Perez isn't much of a blow to the Tigers given that he's hitting .172 with a .487 OPS. Raburn, 26, is hitting .292 with solid power and speed at Triple-A
  11. i always wondered what happened to him on a&e, whats the story with that? it was on like 10 last night, pretty good from the parts i saw...he is a huge baseball fan and loves shoeless joe...
  12. Just wondering if anyone had seen this show on tlc. its pretty neat, this company (trademark) buys shoeless joe jacksons old house and they move it and restore it in greenville sc and donate as a museum to the late player as a way to honor him and try and get him back into baseball. pretty neat show, i didnt catch the whole thing, but apparently there is a big push down in that area to get him reinstated and into the hall... also josh hamilton (former #1 pick) is on throughout the show and they show his steps to a comeback....kinda neat documentary
  13. i would love to play again...i think i was in league 5 the last few years but anyone is fine with me head to head experienced last year in 5 rather not be commish
  14. Bobby Jenks has moved to Chicago and is working with a nutritionist. Jenks saved 41 games last season, but that came with a 4.00 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. He clearly has the talent to be one of the game's truly outstanding closers, and taking better care of himself may help him get to that level. He's listed at 280 pounds and he may have been heavier than that last season. Rotoworld
  15. from rotoworld....A baseball source told the Los Angeles Times that the Red Sox, Cubs, White Sox, Indians, Astros and Rangers could pursue J.D. Drew. The White Sox? The personalities of Drew and Ozzie Guillen couldn't possibly be more different, so that would be rather fun to see. We'd add the Tigers, Padres, Orioles and maybe the Mariners to the list. Also, the Blue Jays could try to sign him as a center fielder if they make the decision to trade Vernon Wells.
  16. White Sox signed outfielder Luis Terrero, who had been with the Orioles, to a one-year, $410,000 contract. Terrero's chances of making an impact with the Orioles last season were undone by an 0-for-19 start. The 26-year-old hit .318/.367/.560 in 302 at-bats with Triple-A Ottawa, and since he's a fine defender in center field, there's every reason to believe he can be a useful reserve outfielder. He might even get a chance to compete for a starting job with Brian Anderson, Ryan Sweeney and Jerry Owens if the White Sox can't upgrade. It's a nice little signing for GM Ken Williams. from rotoworld...
  17. I live in VA so I saw this on the news but I just saw it on Rotoworld as well: Rays prospect Erik Walker is missing after a boating accident Saturday in Grayson County, Va., and a search continued Sunday. Walker and another person were riding rapids on the New River Saturday near Martinsville, Va., and Walker fell in and went under. The 23-year-old Walker was a 20th-round pick out of the University of North Carolina-Charlotte this year. A reliever, he had a 0.48 ERA and a 53/6 K/BB ratio in 37 2/3 IP for short-season Single-A Hudson Valley. Hope and pray for his safe recovery...
  18. didnt see this anywhere, please delete if posted elsewhere: Brewers acquired infielder Tony Graffanino from the Royals for LHP Jorge De La Rosa. The Brewers aren't giving up yet. Still, it had become clear that De La Rosa wasn't in their plans, meaning that they sacrificed little to shore up their infield here. In other words, don't rule out a Carlos Lee trade just yet. Graffanino should bump Chris Barnwell from the roster and see action at third, short and second. He could play at least three times per week until Corey Koskie returns -- if Koskie returns -- giving him a little value in NL-only leagues. He was hitting .268/.346/.409 in 220 at-bats for the Royals Rotoworld.
